Chapter 1444 - 1441: Reaching the Other Shore

The beautiful things are always fleeting, just like the butterfly's beauty is limited to those brief moments.

The time on this river was not long, indeed it truly was a shortcut. Such events were not within Igor's plan, and it was somewhat unexpected, so they were still in a state of astonishment.

Although Igor was intent on communicating with the Water Spirits, unfortunately, he could not achieve his goal.

During this period, it was so tranquil; he didn't want to break this silence. Besides, he also didn't know what to say. They had heard the previous conversation between Lord Soron and the Water Spirits, and they knew that there was some gap between the Water Spirits and humans. Such a gap was enough for the Water Spirits to be wary of any human. So even someone as simple as Igor knew not to speak casually.

You never truly know what to say to not offend the Water Spirits, but you should understand that silence won't cause you trouble.

The shortcut the Water Spirits paved was not very broad; those fish and the river were not as calm as imagined. They were pressured and could not approach, but that did not mean they didn't want to try.

The water surface of this shortcut was very narrow, entirely a small and calm water surface, only enough to accommodate a single canoe to glide quietly. No wonder Lord Soron's Spirit Book told them that this canoe was the best tool to cross this Han Lake.

Igor and his companions rowed the boat quietly, with Igor at the front, Amoon in the middle, and Douglas at the back. Originally, Douglas was to lead, but Igor refused, telling Douglas that even if there were danger, he accepted it. If he could not pass safely, it only meant he was such a person. Douglas and Amoon admired Igor's decision but were still uneasy. What ultimately convinced them was what the Spirit Book said at the end. Trust, trust in everyone.

Now both Amoon and Douglas were glad that Igor went ahead because they knew themselves well. Seeing such a situation would make them vigilant and hostile. Such emotions could anger the Water Spirits in the water. But Igor was completely different; he was so simple and would only marvel at such sights without hostility, let alone fear.

Igor rowed forward with curiosity, easing the Water Spirits' wariness.

No matter what, they didn't make the Water Spirits uncomfortable or angry. However, they also couldn't establish a state of communication with the Water Spirits.

During the crossing process, at first, there was the sound of water flowing and Igor's voice of awe. Later, there was tranquility, just the sound of paddles slicing through water. Eventually, the Water Spirits' prior coldness faded, and they began to sing, making everything beautiful...

Engulfed in enchantment, Igor and his companions continued forward unknowingly reaching the other side of Han Lake from where they started.

At this moment, the sun had just climbed to the highest point in the sky, yet to unleash its full brilliance and warmth.

Igor pushed the canoe onto the shore, marveling at everything that had just occurred.

Everyone safely made it to the shore, their astonishment not yet faded. This shortcut saved them lots of time.

They turned back to look into the water. The previously calm river suddenly surged; the fish leaped from the surface, apparently dissatisfied with what had just happened!

The Water Spirits vanished as silently as they had appeared, mysterious both in their arrival and departure, yet they provided Igor and his companions with a shortcut.

"From beginning to end, we couldn't even say a word of thanks!" Douglas remarked, still bothered by this.

"We couldn't communicate with them, and couldn't make them lower their guard. Many things can't be resolved in a day," Amoon said thoughtfully, evidently having a comprehensive understanding of the whole affair.

Igor was half-understanding of Amoon's words, but from this experience, he could see that the Water Spirits were not as malevolent as rumored.

He also felt there must be some misunderstanding between humans and Water Spirits that needed exploration and discovery in the future.

Igor approached the water's edge, first bowing, then shouting loudly to the river.

"Hey! Thank you, your singing is beautiful!"

He felt this was the best way to express his gratitude. He had no way to elicit a response from the Water Spirits, but he could convey his sincerity.

The Water Spirits' adherence to their promise to Lord Soron indicated they were not a capricious race. They must have their difficulties, their misunderstandings.

Igor's shout caused a slight ripple on the water's surface, but not a significant one.

Douglas and Amoon also followed Igor, expressing their gratitude to the Water Spirits in their own way.

This shortcut saved them much time and successfully brought them to the border of the Wensi Empire. Although not yet in the core of the Vero Realm, they were close to the frontier city of Romanvis.

Now, they needed to quickly leave this place; after all, the Vero Realm's border was not like Kayne's.

This area was desolate and remote, uninhabited. Compared to Kayne, it was barren land.

After discovering Water Spirits in this part of Han Lake, the Vero People abandoned the place entirely, not wanting to engage with the Water Spirits. Dealing with the Tree Spirits had already consumed much of their time, and they could not afford to create another powerful enemy.

The river banks were thus forsaken by the Vero People. Compared to the Kayne People's meticulousness, the Vero People valued plundering more. They would never develop such barren lands. In their bones, they had a tendency towards plundering much like the Mantai People.

Therefore, arriving in this desolate place, Douglas and Amoon remained very cautious.

"We need to make some preparations!" Douglas first proposed, feeling it was necessary to carefully discuss how to approach the Gaoju Family with the Dual Fish Badge.

"Yes, we need to make changes. The Vero are naturally suspicious, and we've arrived at Romanvis, which is not a good place."

Igor nodded; he understood these matters well, even though he hadn't been here, he had read about it in the Spirit Book...
