Chapter 487: Dealing With the Students

  • Next Chapter

"Killing players, huh," Emilia mumbled, "I hope that doesn’t make something bad happen."

"Worst that can happen is our [Slaughter Meter] increases, and it actually mostly results in benefits as long as you don’t reach Tier-10."

"What happens when you reach Tier-10?" Violet asked, "Never heard of that."

"Something bad," Leon shrugged, though his expression tensed slightly at the thought, "But let’s focus on these guys first. I’ll tell you later."

"Alright."

Just like that, the group was ready to battle this group of students who were corrupted by Divine Academy and the thought of gaining power from the gods, and none of them had any intention of holding back.

MaxCharisma as well as the many players in the entrance hall of Divine Academy all pointed their weapons at Leon and the group.

Their eyes were filled with a mixture of greed and confidence that only came from believing they had the upper hand against the intruders.

’All of them were blessed by the God of Magic or God of War, so no matter how small the blessing was, and I assume it’s extremely small, I have to get rid of them quick.’

The warriors at the front began to roar to power up their companions, their voices echoing through the hall as their muscles bulged and their weapons glowed with newfound strength.

Meanwhile, the mages, who were positioned at the back, began to channel their power into one single devastating spell that would surely wipe out anyone caught in its path if it was ever allowed to finish casting.

At the same time, the warriors also rushed forward, eager to attack or at least help out the mages finish casting the spell before anyone could interrupt them.

They knew that keeping the casters safe was the only way this fight would end in their favor.

"What do we do?" Celeste asked, slightly panicking, "Do we attack too?"

"They’re too far for us to hit them directly with a normal attack, and the students blessed by the God of War are likely aiming to protect them," Violet analyzed, her eyes scanning the battlefield with cold precision, "So our best bet would be to kill all of them in one go before they can finish whatever they’re preparing."

"I can use my [Inferno Breath] to do that," Violet continued.

"I-I can also use [Divine Wrath] ," Emilia suggested.

"Good," Leon grinned, "Then use all of your attacks at once, I’m gonna use one of mine as well."

Leon had several skills that could be used to hit several targets at once, like Lightning Cataclysm, Blood Beam, or even Vines of Desolation.

But in such a case, he already knew which one he wanted to use, because there was no point in wasting something flashy when a single clean strike would do the job.

Violet opened her mouth, gathering her flames in a powerful volley of fire that swirled and crackled with deadly intent, the heat already distorting the air around her.

Emilia pointed her scepter forward, charging her power as golden light began to pool at the tip like a miniature sun.

And Leon gripped his sword tightly as he took his stance, darkness energy surging around the blade.

"FOOLISH, YOU CANNOT DEFEAT THOSE BLESSED BY THE GODS!" MaxCharisma roared as he reached the group first, swinging his glowing blade at them with everything he had.

At that moment, time seemed to slow for a few instants as Leon gazed into MaxCharisma’s eyes.

It wasn’t from using Time Stop though, it was simply a feeling that Leon had as he looked at the man and saw everything he needed to know about him in that single glance.

’So pathetic,’ were Leon’s only thoughts.

In MaxCharisma’s eyes he could only see a vortex of greed for power, willing to do anything to achieve it no matter who he had to step on or throw into a deadly zone just to test something out.

The God of War and God of Magic had told them that if they managed to eliminate Celestial or any of the members of his group, they would actually bless them for real.

And thus they took their chance, even if many of them had to die in the process.

After feeling how much power they acquired from this minimal blessing, they knew they had to get more, as that would mean being the strongest beings in the higher domains and never having to bow to anyone ever again.

Unfortunately for them, they stood before the only person who knew about the gods’ plans and what would happen to those who trusted them blindly without ever questioning the cost.

Time resumed as MaxCharisma’s blade rushed forward, and at that moment, Leon, Emilia and Violet unleashed their power all at once without any hesitation.

BOOM!

Divine Wrath! Inferno Breath! Dark Crescent Slash!

The golden beam erupted from Emilia’s scepter and rushed forward, disintegrating anyone it met with in an instant and leaving nothing behind but scattered ash.

Violet’s flames engulfed anyone in their way, taking the other half of the hallway and reaching the mages who screamed in pain as the fire consumed them before they could even finish their spell.

And finally, Leon’s crescent, powered by his SSS-Level sub-talent, finished the job, as it took over the entirety of the hall and rushed forward without slowing down for anything or anyone.

SLASH!

The first person it cut through was MaxCharisma, cutting his body in half as the man’s eyes widened in complete disbelief at what was happening.

"B-But... the gods... blessed me..."

"You can’t even consider what you got to be a blessing," Leon gazed down at the man’s body with a cold gaze, "Now die."

Just like that, MaxCharisma’s eyes lost their spark, and he died, achieving nothing in the end and leaving behind nothing but a corpse on the floor of the hall he had tried so hard to defend with such confidence just moments ago.

The rest of the students were no different, all cut apart by the crescent, or killed by the girls’ attacks that swept through the hall like a storm.

The ones who tried to run were caught before they could make it more than a few steps, and the ones who tried to hide behind their fallen comrades found that their bodies offered no protection against the kind of power that was being thrown around.

"SUMMON A SHIELD," one of the mages shouted.

The mages at the back abandoned what they were doing, removing the powerful spell they had been casting to instead summon a powerful shield to save themselves from the onslaught.

Unfortunately for them though, as Leon, Violet and Emilia’s attack hit their barrier, it started cracking under the pressure.

And eventually, it was shattered completely, killing all of them where they stood and leaving the hall in complete silence.

"Thanks for staying in a linear hall for us," Leon shrugged.

And of course, right afterward came the notifications, as they had killed actual players, not monsters or natives.

Ding!

[You have killed 37 players.]

"Oh well, not that bad, plus it’s been a while since I’ve actually killed any players, I think the last time was when those Imperial Guild players tried to capture Celeste."

[Slaughter Meter: 836/1000 (Tier-3)]
