Upon seeing the masked man, Daniel Hayes immediately sneered and shouted, "Wright, you son of a bitch! Did you think I wouldn’t recognize you just because you covered your face?!"

Recognizing that rough and arrogant tone immediately, Wright narrowed his eyes. "Why are you here?"

Daniel stepped out from the shadows. He walked over openly and with complete composure, certain that Wright’s men wouldn’t dare touch him. "I’m here to pick him up."

He gestured toward Walker Grant with his gun. "I’m his bodyguard now, responsible for keeping him safe. What about you guys, though? Is business abroad doing so poorly that you all came running over here?"

"Stop right there!" Wright warned, his eyes narrowing further. "Take one more step, and I’ll shoot him."

"Ha..." Daniel laughed aloud. "If you had the guts, you would have done it already. Why would you waste so much time? You want to use him to force Chloe Reed to show herself? Stop dreaming. Chloe has already left the villa."

Hearing this, Walker Grant, who had been keeping his head down in silence, paused slightly. He slowly raised his head, turning toward the direction of Daniel’s voice. "She left?"

"Yeah." Daniel nodded. "Chloe is incredibly smart. The moment the fire broke out, she found a way to slip away quietly. Only idiots like you would think she’s still here." He looked back at Wright, his eyes brimming with mockery. "Your boss really raised a bunch of trash. How about I give your boss a call and have him replace all of you?"

Wright’s face was hidden behind a mask, but the anger radiating from him was palpable.

He cursed inwardly, "Damn it! She actually managed to escape! This mission is a total failure."

Despite Daniel’s provocation, Wright couldn’t retaliate because the man was Walker Grant’s bodyguard. Walker had a delicate relationship with their boss. If Wright took matters into his own hands and did something drastic, it would cost him his own life!

The atmosphere froze in a tense standoff as the flames continued to dance and burn nearby. Just then, the wailing siren of a fire engine rang out. It started off faint but quickly grew louder and clearer.

Daniel’s lips curled into a smirk. "Aren’t you going to retreat? Do you want to go head-to-head with the authorities in this country? If you get tangled up with them, do you really think you can walk away unscathed?"

Wright ground his teeth together. "Don’t be too arrogant. You’ll fall into my hands one day."

Daniel took another step closer. "I’ll be waiting."

Knowing they had to move, Wright led his subordinates in a rapid retreat. They were only here to execute a mission, but since their target never showed up, they couldn’t afford to stick around waiting for trouble to find them. If they brought the authorities back to their doorstep, their boss would undoubtedly fly into a rage.

These mysterious mercenaries had arrived like ghosts, and they vanished just as silently. In less than five minutes, there was no trace of them left.

Meanwhile, the fire engines had already entered the villa grounds.

Daniel quickly walked over to Walker’s side. "Are you hurt?"

Walker shook his head before asking, "Where is she? Is she hurt?"

Daniel looked at him with a complex expression. "She’s safe. She has already reached the city, so you don’t need to worry about her."

Walker murmured in response, "Mhm."

That was good. As long as she was safe, everything was fine.

Daniel supported Walker as they headed toward the exit of the villa. They left behind a few men to liaise with the firefighters and tally the casualties. The incident was extremely severe and would require everyone’s cooperation to properly investigate and resolve.
