Chapter 886: Someone Is Going to Be Heartbroken

"What do you think?"

Walker inwardly mocked his current cautiousness; he had never been like this in the past. He probably realized that he truly couldn’t keep her anymore, which was why he felt so terrified and lost. Because of that, he had thrown the question right back at her.

Chloe’s eyelashes fluttered. He was asking her? Asking her to take what responsibility? They weren’t even divorced yet, so what was the big deal about sleeping together?

However, looking at his handsome face, she pondered for a moment before tentatively suggesting, "We sleep together one more time? As compensation?"

Walker laughed out loud. "Is that compensating me, or compensating you?"

Chloe fell silent.

"Make it twice."

"Deal."

Silence settled over the room once again.

"I’m going to wash up," Chloe said.

Walker murmured in agreement. Sitting on the bed, he lowered his eyes slightly, listening to the sound of her footsteps entering the bathroom. He closed his eyes and offered a helpless, bitter smile. It seemed there was nothing else he could do but seize every possible second to be close to her.

Downstairs.

Fiona Linton had already gotten up. She was sitting in the living room, massaging her eyes with ice globes to reduce the puffiness. Hearing footsteps on the stairs, she opened her eyes. Spotting Chloe, she asked, "Chloe, did you sleep well last night?"

"Pretty well," Chloe nodded. She sat down next to Fiona, looking at her curiously. "What are you doing?"

"I didn’t sleep well," Fiona sighed. "My eyes are all swollen, so I’m trying to get the puffiness down."

"Why didn’t you sleep well?" Chloe asked in confusion.

"I kept thinking about something..." Fiona placed the two ice globes in a tray and looked at her with a solemn expression. "Do you think there are people in this world who have absolutely no blood relation, yet look incredibly alike?"

Chloe looked blank for a moment before replying, "Probably. Why do you ask?"

"When we got back last night, we ran into a man at the front gate who looked exactly like Walker!" Fiona exclaimed excitedly. "They looked so alike that I almost mistook him for Walker. If the guy hadn’t spoken, I wouldn’t have even realized it wasn’t him because his voice was different!"

A bewildered look appeared on Chloe’s face. "Why don’t I remember that?"

"How could you remember? You were dead drunk and passed out." Fiona proceeded to recount the events of the previous night.

When she heard that she had pressed herself against the car window and screamed Walker’s name at the top of her lungs, Chloe could hardly believe her own ears. Was that... something she would actually do?

"Look, look, I knew you wouldn’t believe me, so I even took a video." Fiona immediately pulled out her phone.

"You don’t need to show me," Chloe hurriedly pressed a hand over Fiona’s. "I believe you."

Fiona bumped her shoulder with a teasing smile. "Are you really that in love? Even when you’re dead drunk, you still can’t forget him?"

"You said it yourself, I was drunk," Chloe countered. "Besides, didn’t I mistake the wrong person for him?"

"Tsk, tsk, that’s not how I see it." Fiona shook her head. "I think you still have him in here." She reached out and poked Chloe’s chest, right over her heart.

Chloe lowered her eyes slightly, her tone perfectly calm. "He’s been gone from there for a long time."

Fiona picked up the ice globes again and leaned back, resuming her depuffing routine. "Alright, alright. If you say he’s gone, then he’s gone. I don’t live in your heart, so naturally, I wouldn’t know your true thoughts. It’s just that a certain someone is going to be heartbroken."

Upon hearing this, Chloe subconsciously turned her head, only to see Walker standing on the staircase, slowly making his way down step by step.
