Seeing this, Chloe Reed’s breath hitched. She quickly got up and hurried over to the stairs, supporting his arm as she asked, "Why didn’t you use the elevator?"

It was far too dangerous for him to come downstairs alone like this!

Walker Grant’s tone was indifferent as he replied, "I have to get familiar with my own home eventually. You can’t stay with me for the rest of my life."

Hearing his words, Chloe felt a sharp pang in her chest, a sour bitterness spreading within her. She didn’t say anything else, merely guiding him over to sit down on the sofa.

Fiona Linton said, "Come here, let me examine you."

"Mm."

After checking his pulse and gently pulling back Walker’s eyelids for a closer look, Fiona couldn’t help but let out a soft exclamation of surprise.

"What’s going on? Your pulse tells me that you’re perfectly fine," Fiona murmured, stroking her chin with a thoughtful look. "Why can’t you see yet?"

Chloe grew nervous and asked, "Is he really okay?"

"Yes, he really is." Fiona nodded, then added, "You should go to the hospital for a check-up. Let’s see what the medical equipment says; maybe it can pick up on something."

Walker handed the white gauze to Chloe and said in a calm tone, "I’ll go when I’m less busy."

Chloe bandaged his eyes again, her gaze incredibly complex.

Just then, her phone rang. She turned to look and saw it was a call from Preston Vance.

She glanced at Fiona and said, "Can you finish wrapping this for him?" Then, she let go of Walker to answer the call.

Taking her phone, she walked right out of the living room, her footsteps fading into the distance.

Fiona came over to adjust the gauze, but Walker began doing it himself. In no time, the bandage was perfectly secured over his eyes.

Fiona was surprised. "You know how to do it yourself?"

Walker’s thin lips curved into a faint, bitter smile. "I have to learn how to live alone eventually, don’t I?"

Fiona sat back down and remarked, "That sounds so pitiful. What’s wrong? Is Chloe going to divorce you?"

Walker didn’t reply, but the aura around him inexplicably turned cold and oppressive.

Noticing this, Fiona distanced herself from him a bit and said, "Haven’t you been mentally preparing yourself for this for a long time?"

Walker remained silent. He tilted his head slightly, trying to catch her voice, but she had left the living room for the garden; he couldn’t hear her at all.

It was as if she had completely disappeared from his world.

And this felt like a reality that could strike at any moment.

Walker’s hands suddenly clenched into fists, panic rising in his heart, yet his face grew even more expressionless.

"Mr. Grant, Doctor Linton, breakfast is ready," a servant walked over and said respectfully.

Fiona nodded. "Got it." She stood up and looked at Walker, asking, "Are you going to eat breakfast?"

Walker stood up and began walking toward the dining room.

Fiona reached out to support him, but he avoided her touch. His tone was icy. "I can do it myself."

Fiona pursed her lips, her gaze growing a bit complicated.

She watched as he slowly made his way to the dining room. He wasn’t completely familiar with the layout of the living room yet, so he walked at a painstakingly slow pace, probing and feeling his way forward.

For some reason, Fiona felt a twinge of sorrow in her heart. She quickly averted her gaze and stopped looking.

In the garden.

Preston’s gentle voice came through the phone. "Chloe, did you sleep well last night?"

"Yes, it was fine. Preston, what about you?" Chloe turned around. From her angle, she had a clear view of everything happening in the living room.

Her eyes locked onto Walker as she watched him adjust his own gauze.
