Overlord Tamer:I Only Tame Bosses
Chapter 129: Shocked
The blazing lava sword swung horizontally toward Oliver.
However, Oliver had already activated Quickstep and dashed backward, quickly getting out of the sword’s range.
“Bloob! Change into Carapace Blaster!” Oliver shouted. At the same time, he switched into his Crimson Striker class.
“You got it, Bloob!”
Bloob, who was currently in Husk’s form, immediately began to shrink before transforming into a version of Oliver with green hair and carapace wings.
He floated in the air above the battlefield.
The benefit of having Bloob was that, unlike Oliver, who needed the respective active monster in order to switch into their class, Bloob could transform into any class without limitation as long as he had previously engulfed and stored the form.
He was glad that he had listened to the system’s recommendation to purchase this monster.
“Husk, let’s go and close in on him! Bloob, provide long-range support!” Oliver ordered.
Both of his monsters nodded. They had done this countless times before, so coordinating with each other was second nature.
Oliver used Quickstep multiple times before arriving directly beneath Lavaslazar. The boss immediately swung its massive sword downward to crush him.
However, a large blast suddenly struck the boss’s arm, causing its attack to veer off course and swing backward.
Oliver seized the opportunity an he unleashed Crimson Slash and swung upward, creating an uppercut-like slash.
“RAARRR!”
The boss roared in pain. But the assault wasn’t over yet. Husk appeared behind it and unleashed Crimson Fang, causing the boss to stumble forward before crashing onto the ground.
Bloob then flew directly above it and fired a Cataclysm Beam downward from the air.
BOOM!!
Before Lavaslazar could even try to stand up, the massive beam slammed into its back, causing cracks to spread across the platform.
“You’re not dead yet? Bloob! Now take this! Bloob”
BOOM!! BOOM!! BOOM!!
Bloob mercilessly unleashed blast after blast at Lavaslazar’s back. It was a horrific sight as the boss monster’s rocky body began cracking apart, exposing its molten interior.
Oliver watched as the boss monster’s HP dropped into the red before finally reaching zero. In less than ten minutes, the three of them had defeated the boss with ease.
With that, Oliver had cleared the dungeon by himself. If the academy knew about this, they would surely be amazed.
Of course, there were senior students capable of clearing this dungeon alone, but it usually took them around ninety to one hundred and twenty minutes.
Oliver, on the other hand, had cleared it in only fifty minutes. And he had done it with ease. Well, not completely without sweat. At the moment, he was drenched in it because of the intense heat.
“Die! Die! Bloob!” Bloob shouted as he continued firing nonstop at the boss.
“Hey, Bloob! Enough! That boss is already dead!” Oliver yelled.
“That small creature really doesn’t fit his gangster attitude. He needs to be controlled properly.” Husk shook his head as he looked at Bloob.
Oliver could only shake his head and rub his temple. Bloob was indeed cute, but he had a far more explosive temperament than the others. Compared to him, Oliver actually preferred Nyx’s childish attitude. At least Nyx listened to him.
“Can you help me teach him some manners?” Oliver asked Husk.
“Isn’t that supposed to be the job of his master, the tamer?” Husk replied.
“Please, Husk. You’re the only normal one among my monsters. Please…” Oliver begged.
“Sigh…I will try my best. But next time, can you also consider a monster’s personality before taming it? I’ve had enough weirdos surrounding me.”
“Okay, I promise I will do that!” Oliver said, giving Husk a salute.
Husk simply shook his head. For some reason, he felt that Oliver’s promise wasn’t very trustworthy.
Later, after exiting the dungeon, Oliver was met by the same guard from earlier. The man was smiling widely at him.
“Hahaha! Don’t feel down, kid. I’ve seen many students try to take down that monster for first time and fail. Even though it’s only a Rank 5 dungeon, it’s still one of the strongest.” the guard said.
He had been working there for almost twelve years, so he knew the dungeons very well. And the dungeon Oliver had just entered, Volcanis Stronghold, was considered one of the toughest Rank 5 dungeons in this academy.
“What do you mean?” Oliver asked casually. “I cleared it.”
“What!? No way! Show me your card!” the guard exclaimed.
Oliver then showed him his card. It was a magically enhanced student identification card that recorded every dungeon a student had attempted and cleared. With this the lecturers could access the information to monitor their students’ progress.
The guard’s eyes widened as he looked at the information on the card. It seemed that the first-year student standing in front of him had really cleared the dungeon on his first attempt.
“This… this is… impossible…” the guard muttered, still unable to believe it.
“Can I have my card back?” Oliver took the card from the guard before heading toward the next dungeon portal leaving the guard still dumbfounded.
He planned to clear three or four dungeons every night. If he kept up that pace, then before graduating from the academy, he could potentially clear all 4,475 dungeons, a feat that no one had ever managed to accomplish before.
For that night, he managed to clear another two dungeons. Both contained boss monsters that he wasn’t particularly interested in taming. However, he managed to obtain a boss skill card from one of them, so it was still considered a good harvest.
The next morning, Oliver could barely keep his eyes open because of his sleepiness. He had only returned to his dorm at nearly 2 AM the previous night.
“Hey, Oliver, are you alright? Did you study too much last night?” Max asked.
Oliver was too sleepy to answer. He just wanted to rest his head on the table. But before he could do so, Isaak entered the classroom.
“Sit down, everyone. Get ready for today’s class. Before that, I will take attendance first,” Isaak said.
“Urggh…”Oliver let out a tired sigh.
Soon, after the attendance check, Isaak wrote something on the board.
‘DUNGEON STRUCTURE’
“Today, I will teach you about dungeons. Mr. Oliver Overheart, tell me how many types of dungeons we have?” Isaak asked.
However, there was no response from the person he had called on. The classroom suddenly became quiet and all the students turned their heads toward Oliver.
Oliver was currently fast asleep.
