Overlord Tamer:I Only Tame Bosses
Chapter 131: Dragon Reign
Oliver arrived in his room. After taking a shower and changing into his sleeping attire, he immediately jumped onto his bed.
He then opened the system and purchased the [Dragon Reign] pack.
[Dragon Reign Pack]
Theme: Advanced Dragon-Based Cards
Rarity: Uncommon (UC) to Ultra Rare (UR)
Total Cards: 300
Cards per Pack: 3
Price: 5000 Tamer Coins or 5 Tamer Platinums
The pack displayed majestic dragons roaring against a black and golden background. Thanks to his dungeon raids over the past few days, he had managed to accumulate a little over 5000 Tamer Coins.
Surprisingly, he did not feel much when purchasing the pack, unlike the many times before. That was because he knew there were still thousands of dungeons left for him to clear.
To Oliver, they were basically a giant treasure trove of Tamer Coins waiting to be collected.
He unsealed the pack, and three cards appeared in his hand. The first card he looked at was a Rare card.
[Taming Meat – Tenderloin]
Rarity: Rare (Blue Card Frame)
Type: Consumable (One-time Use)
Effect:
Used to greatly increase monster’s Familiarity, improving the chance of successful taming.
“Wow! A Rare Taming Meat! I wonder how much Familiarity it will increase when used.” Oliver smiled.
He then stored the card and looked at the next one. The moment he saw it, his eyes widened in shock.
The second card was also a Rare card. However, what shocked him was not its rarity. It was the fact that it was a weapon card, the very thing he had been hoping to obtain.
[Dracorex Talon and Strider]
Type: Gauntlet and Boots Set
Rarity: Rare (Blue Frame Card)
Archetype: Dracorex
Stats:
STR: +250
AGI: +230
Archetype Effects:
1. Dracorex Aura
Whenever a nearby Dracorex monster is present, increase STR and AGI by 50% for each monster.
2. Dracorex Last Roar
Whenever the user’s HP drops below 10% in a presence of Dracorex monster,
increase STR and AGI by 150% for 1 minute.
Cooldown: 24 Hours
Skills:
1. Scalebreaker
Imbue the gauntlets with draconic wrath. The next attack from each gauntlet will ignore a portion of the enemy’s defense.
2. Skybreaker Kick
Deal massive damage to enemy with a powerful draconic kick.
Oliver stared at the card for several seconds.
Oliver had been thinking about replacing his Assault Dagger for a while now. While it had served him faithfully for years, its stats were gradually becoming outdated compared to his current strength.
This equipment was exactly what he needed. The stat bonuses alone were already impressive, and the two skills looked powerful enough to remain useful for a long time. As for the archetype effects, Oliver’s eyes stopped on Dracorex Aura.
“This effect is actually pretty crazy.”
If he managed to obtain even one Dracorex monster, the bonus could become absurd.
Even Dracorex Last Roar was an excellent emergency effect that could potentially save his life during a desperate battle.
A wide smile appeared on Oliver’s face. The second card had already made the pack worth opening. And there was still one card left.
“Please… I want a dragon… please…”
Oliver narrowed his eyes as his heart pounded rapidly. If his luck was bad and he did not get a dragon, he would definitely kick himself later.
Slowly, he looked at the final card. The moment he saw it, he jumped up in ecstasy, causing the card to slip from his hand and fall onto the floor.
Oliver grabbed his head and began pacing around the room. He could not believe what he had just seen.
Flora then picked up the card and looked at it. The card had a prismatic white frame that shimmered brilliantly whenever light touched its surface.
“Oh my… a dragon.” Flora said.
“It is not just a dragon! It is an Ultra Rare dragon!” Oliver exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement.
He hurried over to Flora and took the card from her so he could properly read the monster’s details.
He couldn’t stop his hands from shaking and excited grin spreading across his face.
[Vaalstrun – Thunderlord Dracorex]
Card Rarity: Ultra Rare (Prismatic White Frame)
Monster Rank: Overseer
Role: Nuker
Archetype: Dracorex
[Attributes]
HP: 15,000
MP: 25,500
STR: 9,500
END: 8,500
AGI: 11,200
INT: 21,000
WILL: 3,000
“So powerful!”
Oliver was genuinely amazed. Since obtaining the system, he had never been this excited before. After all, this was his first Ultra Rare card.
“The stats of this dragon are insane! 21,000 INT?! Its stats are even stronger than Zepharion’s!”
Oliver then remembered what the system had told him before. Zepharion was a Secret Rare monster, and its rarity was comparable to a Super Rare card.
Of course, an Ultra Rare card would be much more powerful!
He then kissed the card in his hand. The dragon depicted on the card was purple in color and covered in crackling purple lightning. It looked majestic and incredibly powerful.
It was then that Flora said something that completely stunned him.
“It is definitely look strong. But can you defeat and tame it with your current strength? An Overseer-rank monster is no joke.”
Oliver’s eyes widened. He had been so engrossed with the card that he had completely forgotten about that part.
Thump!
Oliver flopped onto the bed and buried his face in the pillow. Flora was right. The dragon was indeed powerful, but in order to tame it, he needed enough strength to defeat it first.
It seemed he would have to keep the card for a while before he could actually use it.
A few moments later, Oliver suddenly sat upright and he slammed his fist into his palm.
“I cannot give up now. To obtain new power, one must first gain enough strength to wield it.”
“Nicely said, kid.” Husk replied while lying on the bed beside him.
Oliver then stored the monster card away before equipping the Dracorex Talon and Strider. The equipment had an amazing design.
The gauntlets extended all the way to his elbows, forming sharp protrusions at the joints. The boots featured sharp heels and pointed fronts. Made from dragon scales, the entire set looked powerful and intimidating.
Oliver stood in front of the mirror and struck a pose. Tomorrow, he and his friends would be clearing dungeons together, so he could not wait to try out his new equipment.
But despite his excitement, his thoughts kept drifting back to Vaalstrun. Unknown to him, that dragon would one day bring either great fortune or terrible calamity into his life.
