Chapter 674: Chapter 672: Actually, I Think It’s Fine Too
"What do you think, darling?"
"And what does The Exalted One think?"
Javier Sinclair glanced at them. "Me? As long as you’re all happy, that’s all that matters. Why ask me?"
He didn’t really have an opinion.
Javier Sinclair looked at her and said, "You are my wife. Your will is my will. You have full authority over everything in the Demon Realm; you don’t need to ask me."
The Demon Realm was his.
And it was hers, too.
Celeste Grant thought for a moment. "What if someone doesn’t respect my authority, or objects to my decisions?"
Javier Sinclair glanced at her and shook his head slightly. "That won’t happen. If anyone has any dissenting thoughts, it must be because their brain and body have decided to part ways."
He rarely managed the affairs of the Demon Realm, a fact the elders had to suffer in silence. Now, someone willing to take charge had finally arrived—and she was the lady of the Demon Realm, no less. Someone willing to lead them and shake things up? They’d probably all be setting off firecrackers to celebrate.
"Well, that’s a relief. I hope we can all get along."
"It’ll be just like before."
As he spoke, he picked up a slice of fish for Celeste Grant. "My lady, have some fish."
Celeste Grant smiled faintly.
"Thank you, darling."
She picked up the slice and put it in her mouth. The fillets from this large fish were completely boneless. The meat was firm, fresh, and delicious. ’So tasty.’
"Oh, this is amazing! No wonder it was caught in Glacian. The meat is delicious and has a nice, firm texture."
Aaron Sinclair said with a smile, "If you like it, Mom, I’ll go catch more next time. I think this fish tastes great, too. It’s full of Spiritual Energy and the meat is high quality."
They finished the meal amidst laughter and conversation.
「That evening.」
Later that night, after Nerida and the others had left, Celeste Grant arrived at her new home. It was Javier Sinclair’s personal palace. The antechamber was spacious at a glance, its furnishings simple yet luxurious, with everything one could need. The walls were adorned with Magic Treasures and formation diagrams.
It also had things it probably shouldn’t.
For instance, the long desk in the antechamber, and the throne placed behind it.
She raised a hand to shield her eyes.
"My eyes... They’re burning."
The surface of the desk and its four legs were inlaid with countless red eyeballs. At first glance, anyone would mistake them for real eyes. In reality, they were likely crafted from some kind of polished bone, only made to look like the real thing.
It wasn’t just the desk. The throne behind it was also made of bone, its surface inlaid with a dense cluster of red eyeballs that pulsed with a faint, eerie red light.
The atmosphere was something else! Anyone with less nerve would probably find their knees going weak just standing here.
She glanced from the desk to the throne.
’It’s absolutely blinding. And it’s a matching set, of course.’
’But together, they actually have a strange kind of beauty. Is this the throne inlaid with a thousand eyeballs he mentioned? You’re really something else, my dear Archfiend.’
Looking over by the window, there was also a zither. Its entire frame was made of bone, and it radiated a chilling Demonic Qi. This was clearly the Archfiend’s handiwork. Sometimes, she really had to admire his craftsmanship; he could probably be designated a master artisan.
’And this zither... I actually think it’s beautifully made.’
Celeste Grant pinched her own cheek and couldn’t help but mutter, "I feel like after spending so much time with him, my sense of aesthetics is getting weirder and weirder."
’Maybe this is what they mean by "birds of a feather flock together." Anyone else probably couldn’t stand Javier Sinclair’s aesthetic. There’s a reason my Archfiend was single for over a hundred thousand years.’
She walked into the inner chambers of the palace.
This area was decorated quite cozily, with screens, vases, and various elegant ornaments. These must have been recent additions. Even so, they couldn’t distract from the absolute eyesore that was the massive bed in the center of the room.
Her eyes widened.
She muttered aloud.
"Damn... you call this a bed?"
’Does the Archfiend have some kind of misunderstanding about what a bed is? Otherwise, he wouldn’t have designed something so... unconventional. Then again, he wasn’t originally human, was he?’
At first glance, it looked like a giant serpent coiled up, with the bed resting on its body. Above it, nine heads with red eyes were bent slightly downwards, surrounded by drooping gauze curtains. A piece of Ancient Jade hung from one side of the bed.
’Is it because of my Cultivation that I’m not afraid of things like this anymore? This bed is radiating chilling Demonic Qi and should be terrifying, but I actually find the design... quite reasonable.’
She took another look.
’It’s actually kind of nice.’
Celeste Grant rubbed her eyes.
"Have I really gotten braver, or is there something wrong with my eyes?" How could she possibly think that sleeping here would be acceptable?
Celeste Grant walked closer.
She tilted her head up slightly, her gaze landing on the nine heads above. ’If I wake up and see nine snake heads staring down at me, won’t that be an eyesore?’
But seeing this bed, even she felt that this Hydra from Ancient Times had a miserable fate. Not only was it dead, but it had also been refined into a bed for someone to sleep on.
She walked to the edge of the bed and sat down.
She didn’t feel any discomfort.
She leaned back and lay down.
In her line of sight, the gauze curtains on either side of the bed swayed gently.
"You know, it’s actually pretty comfortable."
She had originally planned to tell Javier Sinclair to toss this... collection piece... into a corner to gather dust. But now, she thought it might be fine to leave it here.
Just as she was thinking this, a figure materialized on the bed beside her. He was lying on his side, propping his head up with one hand as he watched her.
"My lady."
Seeing him appear, Celeste Grant turned on her side to face him.
"You scared me, appearing without a sound."
He glanced at her, and then actually made a sound.
"SQUEAK~"
Celeste Grant rolled her eyes at him, but she couldn’t help but laugh. "I didn’t mean literally..." She reached out and gave him a few playful shoves.
Javier Sinclair waved his hands defensively. "But you told me to make a sound. Your husband has it tough." As he spoke, he reached out, grabbed Celeste Grant’s wrist, and pulled her into his embrace.
Javier Sinclair lay on his back with Celeste Grant resting on top of him. He gently stroked her hair, smiled, and asked, "My lady, what do you think of the bed?"
When he arrived, he saw her lying on it without any sign of dislike, so he hadn’t disturbed her. He had been fully prepared to replace it.
Hearing this, Celeste Grant propped herself up on her elbows on his chest, tapping a finger against her chin.
She said languidly, "What do you think, darling? Do I like it or not?"
He cleared his throat. "If you don’t like it, I’ll have it replaced." But as he looked at his wife, she didn’t seem to dislike it at all.
Celeste Grant smiled.
"Actually, I think it’s fine."
His eyes lit up.
"Really?"
Celeste Grant hummed in agreement.
"While your aesthetic continues to challenge my understanding of the world, the design is certainly impressive. After looking at it for a while, it’s not so bad." As she spoke, she patted the side of the bed. "We can keep it for now. But if you ever do something to upset me, I’ll chop it up for firewood."
