Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System
Chapter 1844: Undead Realm Mission (2)
[Somewhere in the High Undead Heaven - Kaizo and Selantra’s POV]
"Have you heard?" a man wearing a straw hat said, turning to a friend — or perhaps a fellow passenger — seated inside one of the Undead Trains — transport vehicles made from undead leviathans.
Anyone inside the Undead Train might as well be strangers meeting for the very first time.
However, judging by the way he turned to the fellow beside him, it appeared they knew each other. Or perhaps the man in the straw hat was simply an extrovert who found it easy to strike up conversations with just about anyone.
"Lord Lamine had recently awakened his Undead Star and summoned one of the Ancients. I learned the Undead Monarch even commended him and bestowed upon him the title of Undead Baron."
What he had to say, however, captured everyone’s attention.
They all turned to face him, asking for more context. Seeing that he had the floor, he smiled slightly and began to speak.
"Lord Lamine, as we all know, was one of the few who ever made it back from the Primordial Chaos. Of course, many say he was able to do so because of his ever-trustworthy Oracle, the Green Bone Oracle.
"However, regardless of what people think, I believe we all know that returning from the Primordial Chaos is next to impossible. He accomplished it, and now he has summoned an Ancient, making him one of the more powerful Undead Barons.
"I learned he will be unveiling the Ancient he summoned five months from today at a grand wine-and-dine event. Many Undead Barons will be in attendance, including even the Third Undead Princess."
"The Third Undead Princess? Isn’t she the only person to have summoned a Chaos-type Ancient several million years ago?" someone else inside the Undead Train asked, looking at the man in the straw hat.
"That’s indeed her. From what many have tried to hide—and please remember this is only a rumor—the Third Undead Princess apparently had a history with that menace who once terrorized the Undead Realm."
Many turned and looked at each other, almost as if hesitant to say the person’s name. Eventually, someone spoke.
"You mean that terrifying individual who was once known as the Bone Lich Undead Emperor?"
The man who spoke was handsome, with golden hair and golden eyes. He seemed normal, almost native, yet if one looked closer, he appeared foreign.
His words made everyone inside the Undead Train nod in silence.
There is a legend that, many years ago, a single Necromancer, together with his sixty-six Undead Generals, each commanding no fewer than a hundred warriors, invaded the Undead Realm and came dangerously close to annihilating the Undead Monarch and his legacy.
Of course, before that, he was someone many respected, for he had contributed immensely to the betterment of the Undead Realm.
Nobody truly knew what had happened between him and the Undead Monarch, considering they had once been akin to best friends.
But before he vanished, the two of them fought a great battle.
"Wasn’t he the only person to have sixty-six Ancients under his command back then? I wonder where he is now, considering nobody knows his whereabouts or has seen him in the last billions of years... I think."
Sighs filled the Undead Train.
"Maybe it is a good thing he isn’t here. Perhaps his return would be the apocalypse we have been waiting for all these years." A small wave of laughter spread throughout the Undead Train.
The golden-haired man also smiled and asked, "If you don’t mind me asking, how can one qualify to attend this wine-and-dine event?"
The man in the straw hat smiled and shook his head.
"Little buddy, as much as I would love to be there myself, to qualify, you either have to be invited personally or rank among the top three Undead Mercenary teams in all of Rex City. Otherwise, just focus on hearing what transpired during the event from those privileged enough to attend such a glorious gathering."
The golden-haired man smiled and nodded to the straw-hat man’s words.
Then he asked again, "I know you will laugh, but how does one go about ranking among the top three Undead Mercenary teams in the city? And most importantly, how can I become a mercenary?"
The straw-hat man turned to the golden-haired man and said, "Persistent, I see. Maybe that is a good thing since the Undead Realm itself forces people to be persistent. As for becoming a mercenary, you can choose to join an existing team, provided you are a Demigod or above.
"Second, if you want to form your own team, then you must visit the Undead Guild with a minimum of five other people and register it. Of course, that part is simple.
"As for ranking higher, here is how you do it. There are five levels of missions, each more dangerous and deadly than the last. The first are White Missions, which aren’t much of a concern. Then come Blue Missions, which, as you know, are a bit more challenging.
"Green Missions are considerably more dangerous, while Black Missions are on an entirely different level. But the most dreadful are Red Missions, and they mostly take place within the Seven Undead Graves.
"Completing a single Red Mission would, without a doubt, rank you among the top five. Of course, completing two Black Missions would also get you there. The reason is that, in the High Undead Heavens, not many mercenary teams have managed to complete Black or Red Missions.
"Those missions are meant for the Supreme and Celestial Undead Heavens. But all the same, if you want to rank higher, complete one Red Mission or two Black Missions. That said, I would advise you against it since they are extremely dangerous.
"Regardless, good luck, little man."
The golden-haired man smiled and nodded. "Thanks for the information, Senior."
Kaizo turned and looked at Selantra, who was seated beside him, resting her head on his shoulder without a care in the world.
’You heard the man, right? We have to get close to the Green Bone Oracle, and as it appears, she will be at the wine-and-dine event. So we have to get inside, no matter what...’
’I know, Kaizo. No need to disturb my sleep.’
Kaizo smirked.
’Then there’s no need to use my shoulder as your pillow.’
