A dense swarm of bugs surged toward them. Behind them was an iron gate. Now, there was no way out. Ning Shu just wanted to know why the hell they were the only ones encountering these things.

Could it be that the other people in the dormitory building had already slept to death?

“Take this.” A roommate stuffed something into Ning Shu’s hand. A beetle had burrowed into Ning Shu’s leg. It bulged into a large lump under her skin and flesh as it scurried around inside.

“Apply the Fengyou Essence on your body,” a roommate shouted loudly.

Fengyou Essence!?1Fengyou Essence, also translated as ‘medicated oil,’ is a type of Chinese patent medicine, usually in the form of a liniment or oily liquid with a light green color. It is derived from countries in Southeast Asia where the weather is warm and wet with the prevalence of mosquitoes because it serves a great deal in relieving itchiness. However, it’s also believed to alleviate the symptoms of many diseases ranging from coughing and rhinitis to the cold and flu.

Ning Shu was already being driven crazy by the death of logic. Why would corpse bugs be afraid of the smell of Fengyou Essence?

The moment Ning Shu opened the Fengyou Essence bottle, a chilly scent instantly wafted out from it. The surrounding corpse bugs did not dare to approach. Ning Shu pressed down on the corpse bug scurrying around under the skin of her leg and dripped the Fengyou Essence onto the bulging flesh.

The flesh and blood were instantly dissolved by the Fengyou Essence, and even the corpse bug inside was corroded along with it.

It was a very unique kind of pain. It felt chilly, yet also seemed to burn fiercely.

Ning Shu wanted to bash her head against a wall. Was this Fengyou Essence or sulfuric acid?

Ning Shu leaned close to her roommate who had given her the Fengyou Essence and asked, “How did you know this stuff could deal with corpse bugs?”

“It just can.” Her roommate was also very bewildered. The group squatted at the dormitory entrance, watching the dense and endless swarm of corpse bugs that were too fearful of the Fengyou Essence’s smell to come any closer.

Ning Shu: …

Was this really not meant to be a joke?

Fengyou Essence!!?

Ning Shu looked at her calf. The place where she had been bitten by the corpse bug earlier now had a bloody hole, which was also a hole corroded by the Fengyou Essence.

It hurt so much that half of her body had gone numb.

Ning Shu looked up at the sky. The sky was still heavy and dark. The moon looked like frosted glass, faintly discernible as it was obscured by the dark clouds. When would it finally be dawn?

The surroundings were completely silent. She felt a sense of having been abandoned by the world.

Ning Shu tightly gripped the item in her hand… the Fengyou Essence.

Ning Shu could only use the Fengyou Essence to repel mosquitoes and insects. She used its itch-relieving and refreshing effects to numb her somewhat crumbling sense of logic.

Corpse bugs were also bugs, so Fengyou Essence should probably be somewhat useful against them.

Otherwise, Ning Shu would simply die from agonizing over this.

Ning Shu’s mind cleared up a little from smelling the pungent scent. She huddled together with her remaining two roommates.

Ning Shu tried to sense spiritual energy. However, in this distorted magnetic field, let alone sensing spiritual energy, there was not even a trace of fiery yang energy.

Her Unsurpassable Martial Arts had absolutely no room to be put to use. Without spiritual energy, how could she draw talismans?

What kind of world was this!?

Ning Shu felt a bit sleepy and wanted to go to bed. She almost considered applying the divine artifact Fengyou Essence directly into her eyes. Perhaps it could even awaken the Sharingan.2For those of you who have never watched Naruto, the Sharingan is a powerful visual ability. People who have the Sharingan generally have unique red eyes.

“Why would such things happen?” Ning Shu asked her other two roommates. Could it be that this situation only targeted those who were awake?

Those who were asleep knew nothing at all, so they had nothing to fear.

This was truly filled with nonsense at every turn.

Right now, Ning Shu was just waiting for daybreak so the dorm auntie would open the door and all these bizarre events could finally disappear. Otherwise, she might as well deceive herself and go to sleep too. Perhaps everything she saw was just an illusion.

However, as much as Ning Shu wanted to sleep, she simply could not fall asleep. The body heat of her roommates next to her reminded her that this was no illusion.

In a flash, the overwhelming swarm of corpse bugs in front of her vanished as well. Not only did Ning Shu not feel a sense of relief in her heart, but she also became even more nervous. Heaven knew what the hell would appear in the very next moment.

The corpse bugs receded like the tide. The ground was completely clean. Right in front of her was a single dead corpse bug.

Ning Shu thought: Excuse me, where exactly did these bugs run off to?

There were never any of these things in the dorm usually. Excuse me, where did these bugs even crawl out from, and where did they run off to just now?

Ning Shu was about to get a splitting headache from all these nonsensical events. There was absolutely no logic, and it completely ignored the rationality of how things should develop.

It was just like dreaming.

Ning Shu poked at the dead corpse bug in front of her. This corpse bug was huge, about the size of half a baby’s fist. This thing also seemed to be completely real. Holy crap, then where did that massive number of corpse bugs run off to?

Ning Shu agonized over this question so much she was about to go crazy. This was especially true regarding the zombie that had appeared on the fourth floor. The zombie had climbed in through the window, but this was the fourth floor!

The problem was, where did the zombie go now? Could it be gnawing on the other students at this very moment?

This seemed to be a university setting. Why were there ghosts and children, as well as clowns? Who knew what the hell else would appear next?

Just as Ning Shu was thinking this, she heard screams rising and falling from upstairs, accompanied by the hoarse, moaning roars of zombies.

The chaotic thumping of footsteps from upstairs made it clear that the people above were fleeing in all directions.

Under these circumstances, the desperate screams made Ning Shu’s heart ache with oppression. Her roommate shook the iron gate, rattling it loudly while shouting for the dorm auntie.

Ning Shu rubbed her forehead. A student ran downstairs and spotted Ning Shu’s group of three. Her eyes instantly lit up. “Save me! There are zombies chasing me from behind.”

Ning Shu and her two roommates were speechless.

She had lured the zombies right to them. Now they were really stuck.

Listening to the zombie roars drawing closer and closer, Ning Shu searched everywhere for a weapon. She only wanted to know why she had no combat power in this distorted world.

Moreover, the energy fields were completely chaotic.

Ning Shu did not find a suitable weapon. Was she supposed to tear the zombies apart with her bare hands?

Excuse me, was this a zombie world?

“Aargh…” The body of the girl who had just run over contorted. She was clearly undergoing zombification. She had been bitten by a zombie and was now turning into one herself.

Seeing her lunge to bite her roommate, Ning Shu hurriedly grabbed her collar and expended a great deal of effort just to yank the zombified female student away.

“Use the Fengyou Essence,” the roommate who had given Ning Shu the Fengyou Essence shouted at her.

Ning Shu: Huh!?

Treating a dead horse as a living one, Ning Shu sprinkled the Fengyou Essence onto the zombie’s body. The moment the Fengyou Essence splashed onto the zombified female student, it instantly began to sizzle, just as if she had been splashed with sulfuric acid. It actually corroded the zombie.

Ning Shu: …

Fengyou Essence!?

This was definitely sulfuric acid, wasn’t it?

She was afraid she would have to treat this Fengyou Essence like a precious treasure. Excuse me, what kind of meme was this Fengyou Essence?

Why was the Fengyou Essence so overpowered?

Logic was dead!

Ning Shu was having a total breakdown.

It seemed that for the days to come, Ning Shu would have to survive by clinging onto this bottle of Fengyou Essence.

After dealing with the zombified female student, Ning Shu looked at her roommate who had given her the Fengyou Essence. Ning Shu felt like she ought to know this girl, but she just could not figure out what this person’s name was.

Her brain had been constantly trapped in a rather bewildered state.

“How did you know the Fengyou Essence would be useful?” Ning Shu asked her roommate.

Her roommate shook her head and said in utter confusion, “I don’t know.”

Ning Shu: …

Then why did you give me the Fengyou Essence?

Then how did you know the Fengyou Essence was useful, and why were you even carrying it on your person?

Was she in a dream or in reality? This entirely nonsensical and logic-defying situation made Ning Shu feel like she was in an illusion, or perhaps a dream.

There were ‘bug’s everywhere!
