Chapter 185: Ch 184: Uninvited Guests - Part 1

"Aww, you care about us so much! This elder brother’s heart is filled with joy to see that his younger brother enjoys his presence so much. Come and give me a hug."

Adrian opened his arms for Kael to snuggle into, but Kael ignored the invitation and looked at the fight below.

He noticed Nathan’s sword flying toward him, but he remained seated. The barrier around him was going to protect him. And if not...Adrian was here to deflect the sword before it reached him.

Adrian smacked the sword away with his own before he looked down at Nathan with a terrifying smile on his face.

"I am sure that you did not lose your grip on your sword on purpose, right? Otherwise, I would be really disappointed in you."

Adrian had a smile on his face, but his eyes were not smiling. And that made Nathan flinch and quickly bow his head in apology.

"My apologies, elder brother. I will make sure something like this does not happen again. I just wanted to test your reflexes."

Nathan sounded genuinely sorry, but his eyes had the same hard glint they always did whenever he was testing someone.

So it was clear that his attempt to harm Kael had not been a mistake but a deliberate move on his part. And if so, he was likely to try again.

Adrian noticed this as well and decided not to let it slide.

"I am afraid that your apology is not enough. Emma, I will take Nathan with me for a training session on manners and respecting his elders. You should take Kael back to his room now. He must be tired after spending the whole day out."

Nathan did not protest as he was dragged away. But the look on his face was filled with terror.

As for Kael? He turned to look at Emma, and she let out a sigh.

"Don’t read too much into Nathan’s actions. He’s not trying to kill you by doing all this. In fact, he quite likes you. And that’s why he’s trying to make sure you won’t be harmed before he gets any closer to you."

That...as much as Kael hated to admit it, he did understand that thought process.

But that did not mean he had to forgive Nathan.

Emma did not expect him to forgive Nathan either, so she did not make any more excuses on their youngest brother’s behalf. But her eyes narrowed as she looked up at the sky...or rather, at the barrier surrounding their estate.

It was hard for Kael to tell what she was thinking, but he had a feeling it was nothing good...

"Is something the matter? You look rather tense. Is the barrier bothering you?"

Emma asked, and Kael immediately shook his head.

It was not as if the barrier was bothering him...but something about it was making him uncomfortable.

He could not explain what it was, but it felt as though something was trying to reach him while bypassing the barrier.

"Emma, is something wrong with the barrier?"

Kael decided to ask his elder sister, and she looked up with narrowed eyes once more. A strange look crossed her face, making Kael certain that something more was going on.

But Emma just smiled in the end and shook her head.

"There is nothing wrong with the barrier. Whatever you are feeling must be a result of your fatigue. Let’s head back to your room now. A little sleep will do you good."

Somehow, Kael had a feeling that resting was not the solution he needed for his problem. But he did not feel like arguing with Emma right now either.

So he followed her inside. But not before he felt a familiar magic brush across his senses. It made him want to turn around...only to be cut off by a sharp sword aura.

"Tsk, looks like pests are trying to crawl their way inside. Kael, why don’t you head back to your room alone? Your elder sister needs to take care of a few things in the meantime."

Emma told him, and before Kael could say anything, she had already run off. He did not even get a chance to ask her what had happened.

Kael was not going to head to his room just because Emma had asked him to. Instead, he wanted to check out what was going on with the barrier, and to do that, he needed to reach out.

But it was going to be difficult since he could not leave the barrier or his injuries could flare up.

"Looks like it is time for the old tried-and-true method of communication."

Kael headed inside the castle in search of writing materials. If the barrier was going to become a problem for him, then he had no choice but to communicate through other means.

"Iris, hurry up. I will back you up. Let’s blast this barrier down and get Kael home."

Seraphina encouraged Iris as she attacked the barrier that was caging Kael inside. Seraphina and Iris had taken one side, while Lyra and Elena were trying to sneak their presence inside from the other.

They had managed to track Kael this far, so getting to him should not be that difficult either...

But the barrier was becoming a problem.

Moreover, Leon seemed to have no intention of helping them. He was just watching them from afar and shaking his head.

"I think you all are going too far. A barrier like this is not a problem for Kael, so if he’s staying put, there must be a reason, right? Why don’t you respect his choice this time and back off?"

Leon asked, and they all knew he was right in the back of their minds. But no one wanted to admit the fact that Kael had decided to stay here of his own free will.

And that was why they were going to bring him back at all costs. This barrier would not stop them.
