Chapter 1523: I’ll Give It a Try

Alice Turner wasn’t joking with Anthony. She had just made that decision herself, resolute and brooking no doubt or refusal.

"No way, sis! Are you kidding me? Or are you punishing me for helping your ex-husband just now?" Seeing Alice’s serious face, Anthony felt the latter was more likely. It must be because of what happened earlier that she was upset and handed it all over to him.

Before they left, they had agreed that she would talk to her ex-husband, and he would be the background support.

But now it was the other way around. He would talk, and she would become the background support.

Alice still wore a serious face, both in tone and demeanor, she was as serious and earnest as ever. "Do I look like I’m joking with you? If you want to return to Derry Kingdom sooner, then focus on talking with Mr. Shaw."

That man was completely abusing his power for personal gain. She didn’t want to give him any opportunity.

If you love, love deeply; if you abandon, abandon completely.

Alice was not someone who procrastinated, whether in work or in relationships. She loved Thomas Fisher, so she wouldn’t drag things out with Benjamin Shaw.

No matter what entanglements they had, she felt it was bad for everyone involved.

"But Mr. Shaw only wants to talk to you."

On the surface, Anthony appeared carefree and casual, but he wasn’t foolish at all. He saw things accurately and was very cautious.

Alice knew this about him very well. To others, and even to his own parents, he appeared to be nothing but trouble.

Yet, his capabilities exceeded everyone’s imagination. She discovered this by chance during an unexpected incident.

The way he portrayed himself was just a cover to hide the real him.

Alice buried this accidental discovery deep in her heart, planning never to reveal it. She just wanted to be a quiet observer.

"I think we can’t hand all the control to him; we should firmly hold it in our own hands. That’s the only way the following matters will be easier to negotiate." If she didn’t regain control, she’d always be led by the nose by that man, and that wasn’t a situation she wanted to see.

"Alright, I’ll give it a try."

Anthony was about to say more to persuade Alice, but seeing how determined she was, he gave up on persuading her. Besides, what she said made sense.

This result was what Alice anticipated, but hearing Anthony agree, she still breathed a sigh of relief.

"Grace! Work with Anthony in a bit." Alice handed her laptop to Grace Young. After delegating her authority, she felt much more relaxed.

Feeling lighter, she regained her appetite and picked up her chopsticks to start eating again.

Alice not only ate for herself but also helped Grace and Anthony with their food. She knew their preferences inside out, and she certainly wouldn’t get it wrong for them.

"Mr. Turner! You should eat too."

"Sis! Don’t just keep serving us, you eat too."

Neither Grace nor Anthony focused only on enjoying themselves. They also served Alice, and the three of them enjoyed passing food back and forth.

When Benjamin Shaw pushed the door open, what he saw was such a harmonious scene. His brows furrowed at that moment.

Apparently, this trio felt he was a nuisance. Once he left, they began to let loose.
