Charlotte Shaw and Anthony’s conversation woke Benjamin Shaw from his sleep. He slowly opened his eyes; just after waking up, his gaze looked a bit dazed and unfocused.

"Ex-hubby! You’re awake?"

Anthony was the first to notice Benjamin opening his eyes. He didn’t care what Charlotte had just said, and leaned down to look at the man who’d been woken up.

Hearing Anthony call him "ex-hubby" again, Benjamin’s brows suddenly knitted together. "What are you doing here?"

Freshly awake, his voice was a little hoarse, that lazy kind of rasp, but it actually sounded pretty nice.

"You really don’t seem happy to see me. I’m so hurt." Anthony was totally bewitched by Benjamin’s lazy voice; when he spoke, he unconsciously slipped into a coy tone only a little woman would use. He even pouted, looking all cuddly and cute on purpose.

Charlotte was standing beside Anthony, while Anthony was bent over looking at Benjamin, so she didn’t see what Anthony looked like at that moment.

But Benjamin was face-to-face with Anthony. That fussy, cutesy act was perfectly clear in his line of sight, and the frown between his brows tightened even more.

What’s with this kid acting like a woman? Actually pouting and playing cute.

No wonder Thomas keeps calling him a sissy. This kid really is a sissy.

"How could Benjamin not want to see you? He just woke up; he’s not fully awake yet. Don’t take it personally."

Seeing Benjamin frowning at Anthony and not responding for a long while, Charlotte thought he was really upset. She hurriedly spoke up to smooth things over.

Hearing Charlotte’s words, both Benjamin and Anthony reacted, and at the exact same time—but the intensity and content of their reactions were completely different.

"How could I possibly take it personally with someone who’s injured? Absolutely not!" Anthony answered his own question, not giving the other two a chance to speak.

Compared to Anthony, Benjamin’s response was much simpler. "I’m very much awake right now."

"You’re awake, you’re awake."

Charlotte glanced at Anthony. Seeing that he wasn’t angry about what Benjamin said, she finally relaxed and looked back at Benjamin, shooting him a subtle eye-roll.

Benjamin chose to ignore the eye-roll Charlotte sent his way and turned his gaze to Anthony. "Your phone’s in my car. My car is still parked at the hotel where you guys are staying. When you go back later, just get your phone from my car."

"The car keys are in the drawer of that cabinet." He lifted his hand and pointed at the cabinet beside the hospital bed, signaling Anthony to take the keys from inside.

"Got it. Don’t move around too much."

Worried Benjamin might move and pull at his wound, Anthony quickly reached out and opened the cabinet drawer.

Sure enough, he saw a car key inside the drawer. He took it out and very naturally wrapped his fingers around it.

Seeing Anthony take the key, Benjamin immediately spoke, basically telling him to leave. "Go grab it quickly. If someone calls you and you miss it, that wouldn’t be great."

It sounded like he was thinking of Anthony’s best interests, but really he just wanted to shoo him out. He really wanted to be alone right now, to sit quietly by himself.

"President Shaw, you’re absolutely right. In that case, I won’t bother you here. I’ll get going." Anthony had sharp eyes and keen ears; how could he not pick up on Benjamin’s impatience and irritation?

Even though he really wanted to stay, in order not to disturb ex-hubby’s rest, he still obediently left the hospital room with the car keys in hand.
