Wang Lihong was thrilled to see that she genuinely appreciated the wood carvings.

After a moment’s thought, she stated a price.

"T-ten yuan."

Seeing how awkward she was, Fu Mingxue named a price herself.

"You can’t sell these so cheaply, or it would feel like I’m taking advantage of you. How about this? Fifty yuan for these four pieces."

Wang Lihong was stunned when she heard the number fifty.

"N-no, you don’t have to pay that much."

’Fifty is far too much.’

"They’re worth it. Go ahead and pack them up for me! And these eggs here—count them out, I’ll take them all too."

Fu Mingxue took out some money from her pocket.

She had just visually estimated there were about twenty eggs in the basket.

Wang Lihong didn’t dare to accept that much money.

"R-really, you don’t need to give me so much."

"There are twenty eggs here, right? They’re five cents each right now, so I’ll give you fifty-one yuan. You can count it."

Fu Mingxue handed the money over.

Seeing the young woman still standing there in a daze, she prompted her.

"What are you standing around for? Go on and pack up my things! You know, I quite like this basket. How about I give you another ten yuan and you can let me have the basket as well?"

’This is perfect. When I head back later, I can secretly transfer the things from my space into it.’

So she counted out another ten yuan.

Wang Lihong’s eyes reddened.

’There are actually people this good in the world.’

’Sure enough, a beautiful face and a kind heart.’

"Th-thank you, Comrade. I’m truly grateful. My grandpa wove this basket. You don’t have to pay for it; I’ll give it to you as a gift. Fifty yuan is enough."

"Your grandfather is very skilled. And since an elder wove it, I have all the more reason to pay. Take the money. I still have other places to browse."

Fu Mingxue pressed the money into her hand.

Seeing this, Wang Lihong had no choice but to accept the money.

Then, in a flurry, she began packing the items into the woven back-basket—

"Comrade, I’ve packed the eggs in there as well. I padded the bottom with a layer of straw, so they shouldn’t break."

"Alright, thanks." Fu Mingxue shouldered the back-basket, then smiled and gave the young woman a wave.

Just then, Wang Lihong suddenly gave Fu Mingxue a deep bow.

"Comrade, thank you. My name is Wang Lihong, from Wang Family Village. I’m truly, incredibly grateful."

This money was extremely important to her.

She could continue to pay for her grandfather’s medical treatments.

Fu Mingxue was quite surprised by this gesture.

"D-don’t mention it. I genuinely like the things you carve. Alright, goodbye!"

Leaving the stall, she headed toward another part of the market.

Wang Lihong watched her retreating figure, her red-rimmed eyes fixed on her for a long time, until she disappeared from view.

Fu Mingxue made a loop around the market, buying quite a few other things as well.

Then she rode her bicycle back to the family compound.

Wang Xiang had also just gotten home from the market.

When she saw Fu Mingxue, she brought over a chicken she had bought at the market.

This took Fu Mingxue by surprise. "Sister-in-law, what’s this—"

"Mingxue, don’t get the wrong idea. This isn’t from me. Qin Tuan asked me to buy it. He told me to pick up a chicken for you while I was at the market so you could make a nourishing stew."

You couldn’t find another man in the entire family compound who was as caring and considerate of his wife as Qin Tuan.

Fu Mingxue was speechless. ’...Qin Wenhao asked Wang Xiang to buy this? Isn’t he being a little *too* thoughtful?’

"Mingxue, do you know how to butcher a chicken? If not, I can help you—"

Upon hearing this, Fu Mingxue quickly replied, "I can handle it myself. Thank you, Sister-in-law!"
