Chapter 565: The Evidence

Yun Xirou glared at her stupid deskmate. Was she even aware of what she was doing? If someone heard her, then there was a good chance they would be the ones in trouble. "Don’t you know what you can say and cannot say? Do you want someone to hear and tell the teachers?"

She picked up her book and started to do the practice questions. "Anyway, you have already done it. So we are in the same boat; it will be better if you keep your mouth shut, or else who knows what might happen to you? So you better listen to me and keep this matter to yourself; it will be better for you."

However, the more Yun Xirou behaved like this, the more her deskmate became worried. She could not help but say, "Yun Xirou, how can you talk to me like that? I lied to the teachers because of you. You were the one who said that nothing would happen, and that was the only reason I was willing to follow along with you, but now you are telling me that there is a chance that we will be entangled in trouble. That is not fair!"

"Comrade Ji, you lied because you do not like Comrade Han. In your heart, you are still upset because he rejected you. Don’t make it sound like you did a favour to me," Yun Xirou rolled her eyes and snorted heavily. Did Ji Yuan think that she did not know anything? She knew everything! Han Jianyou rejected Ji Yuan a few days ago, and she was unhappy about it, that’s the reason why she agreed to file a complaint against him. If not, she would have never joined forces with her.

"You—"

"Student Yun? Student Ji?" Class Monitor Liu walked into the classroom and looked at the two girls who were sitting in the middle row. "Teacher Xu has called the two of you and..." He then turned to the three boys who went with Yun Xirou earlier. "And you three as well."

As soon as Class monitor Liu asked the five of them to go to the staff room, Ji Yuan turned as pale as the moon. Alarm bells started to ring in her head as she turned and looked at Yun Xirou. It seemed like the matter had been found out.

Initially, Yun Xirou also panicked, but then she calmed down. As long as she did not admit it and insisted that Han Jianyou had actually cheated in the exams, she did not believe that anyone would be able to find out the truth. Anyway, there was no evidence, and Han Jianyou was all alone. She would love to see how Han Jianyou would be able to escape this time around.

"Xirou—"

"Shut up. Just stick to your story, and no one is going to say otherwise." Yun Xirou glared at her deskmate.

She then followed the class monitor out of the classroom.

When Ji Yuan saw her leave, she hesitated and followed Yun Xirou along with the three boys.

"Teacher Xu, did you call me —" Yun Xirou began but was dumbstruck when she saw Han Ruochen sitting in the staff room. She was so shocked that she could not help but blurt out, "What are you doing here?"

"What do you think?" Han Ruochen sneered. She stood up from the chair on which she was sitting and walked over to where Yun Xirou was standing. She assessed the young girl from head to toe before turning around on her feet and walking away. Though she did not say anything, something about her stance made Yun Xirou nervous. If it were just Han Jianyou, then she was sure that she could have dealt with him. But now that Han Ruochen was here, she was no longer as confident.

Thus, when she walked inside, her smile was dimmer than before.

"Student Yun", Teacher Xu was highly embarrassed after being questioned by Han Ruochen. He was not angry, just embarrassed, because he realised his own thoughts. And once he realised what he had said, he could not help but feel upset about it.

Since he started teaching, he had always thought that he was a good teacher and had always been fair and just. But why did he subconsciously believe the words of Yun Xirou and even doubt Han Jianyou this time around? It was because he did not trust Han Jianyou in the first place!

He looked at Yun Xirou and the rest of the students who had accused Han Jianyou of cheating and spoke to them in a serious voice, "Miss Han here insists that her brother has never cheated and wants to investigate the matter thoroughly. I will ask you all one last time if you—anyone of you—have lied about Student Han cheating in the exams; if you have, then you can tell me the truth. I will not say anything to you or anyone else. I will treat this matter as something you all do because you all are young."

"But if the matter is investigated and you are found guilty of lying, then I am afraid that you all will be punished. You might even get a bad remark in your results, which might affect your future applications for college. Remember that if you receive a remark from the school, it might leave a bad impression in the future."

When Yun Xirou heard the teacher’s words, she grew a bit nervous, but at the same time she was unwilling to admit that she had lied. So, even though she knew that the matter of Han Jianyou’s cheating would be investigated, she still gritted her teeth and hurriedly said, "Teacher Xu, please don’t say such heavy words to scare us. I know that Student Han’s sister can be a bit forceful, but the truth is that we all saw him cheat! He was looking in the textbook when he was taking the exam."

"Teacher Xu, we are not scared. After all, it is not us who are lying!"
