Chapter 764: Chapter 764: Annabelle, I Miss You

’Back then, I thought he was just being childish, but now, it feels so, so warm.’

’Life is so unpredictable. The days that once felt perfectly ordinary have now become such precious memories. It felt like their happy days were now on a countdown.’

Annabelle Linton had always thought things like death were a distant concept, but she never imagined a single disaster could so easily begin devouring her life, and Leona Grant’s life too.

Tears started rolling down Annabelle Linton’s cheeks again for no apparent reason.

She looked back at the comments below.

Xylas Shepherd: Is there any problem a good f*ck can’t solve? If so, make it two. Followed by a devilish emoji.

Nathaniel Locke: Good luck.

Ashley Grant: @Xylas Shepherd, this isn’t the bus to kindergarten! Stop, I want to get off!

Roxanne Jennings: Hahahaha.

Annabelle Linton couldn’t help but laugh as she read them. She switched back to the chat window and replied, "Getting ready for bed."

Leona Grant replied almost instantly, his tone full of playful complaint, "What took you so long? I’m sad now. I need a hug."

Annabelle Linton chuckled, wiped away her tears, and sent a hug emoji before replying, "I was in the shower. Just saw your message."

"A shower?"

That was an odd reply from Leona Grant. Just as Annabelle Linton was about to type back, a video call from him came through.

She quickly wiped her tears away and ran to the mirror to check her reflection. Seeing that she didn’t look like she’d been crying, she accepted the call.

His impeccably handsome face filled the screen, illuminated in the dim light.

Leona Grant gazed at her beautiful face. Annabelle Linton had just finished her shower, and her fair skin was tinged with a rosy blush, making her look both cute and enchanting.

He always loved how she looked after a shower—smelling so fresh, looking so soft, and being so incredibly easy on the eyes.

He watched her serene profile, his heart stirring even when her face was devoid of expression.

Leona Grant realized he missed her even more.

The two of them just gazed at each other, and for a moment, neither spoke.

After a moment, Leona Grant gazed at her tenderly and said softly, "Annabelle Linton, I miss you."

Annabelle Linton pressed her lips into a smile, her gentle eyes crinkling with warmth as she replied just as tenderly, "I miss you too."

Then, they fell silent again.

They continued to gaze deeply at one another. Though no words were spoken, the affection they shared was clear in their eyes.

Annabelle Linton looked at him softly and asked with a small smile, "Have you eaten yet?"

"I have. You?"

"I’ve eaten too."

After another brief silence, Leona Grant was the one to break it, asking, "How’s the weather over there?"

"About the same as in Lynton."

"Make sure you dress warmly. Don’t catch a cold or get sick, okay?"

"You too."

Annabelle Linton had just gotten out of the shower and her hair was still dripping. Leona Grant noticed the droplets and asked, "Are you going to sleep without drying your hair?"

Annabelle Linton propped her phone on its stand, grabbed a towel, and sat down on the bed. She began to dry her hair, saying with a smile, "I’m drying it now."

Leona Grant watched her, completely entranced, as if he couldn’t bear to blink.

’He wanted so badly to hold her.’ In the two weeks they’d been apart, they had called every day and could see each other just like this, but it wasn’t enough. In fact, it only made him miss her more.

Annabelle Linton toweled her hair for a bit. While it was still damp, it was no longer dripping.

Annabelle Linton put the towel down, picked up her phone from the stand, and told him, "All done."

"Good girl."
