Chapter 776: Chapter 776: Annabelle Will Always Be Leona Grant’s Little Baby

In two months, everything would probably be settled.

They only had three months left. Annabelle Linton had made up her mind.

She would fight for another two months. After those two months, if she succeeded, they would have a wedding together—get married one more time.

If she didn’t succeed after two months, they would still have a wedding. But by then, she would truly have to give up.

Because in two months, the complications would likely appear—starting with hair loss, then bleeding from the orifices. She probably wouldn’t be able to do her research anymore by then. She wanted to spend her final days with Leona Grant, and then they would die together.

Annabelle Linton couldn’t help but smile at the thought.

’In our last life, we basically died together. In this life, we’ll die together too. What’s there to be unsatisfied about?’

’If we can live, we’ll live together. If we can’t, we’ll just die together.’

But she wouldn’t give up on any chance she had.

Leona Grant understood what she meant.

’Whether they find a cure in two months or not, she’ll still have a wedding with me, right?’

’Whether it’s to celebrate or to make up for regrets.’

Hearing this, Leona Grant smiled and said tenderly, "Alright. It’s a deal then."

Annabelle Linton smiled too, then couldn’t help but cough a few times.

Hearing her cough, Leona Grant couldn’t help but tense up. His tender expression instantly hardened back into his usual cold look as he asked urgently, "Annabelle Linton, what’s wrong?"

A shadow passed through Annabelle Linton’s eyes. She covered her mouth and coughed softly a few more times. Once the coughing subsided, she deliberately said in a light tone, "The wind’s been a bit strong here lately. It’s just a little cold."

"A cold again? Have you taken any medicine or gotten a shot? I told you to wear more clothes and take care of yourself, and now you’ve caught another cold. Annabelle Linton, are you just ignoring everything I say?"

Leona Grant said sternly, but his tone was saturated with a concern that was impossible to ignore.

Afraid he would uncover something if he kept questioning her, Annabelle Linton said with a laugh, "It’s just a simple cold, don’t worry. I’m taking medicine, and I’ve already had a shot. Anyway, I have to go, I’m busy."

Leona Grant pressed his lips together. "Okay, go on and get busy then. Call me later. Remember to keep your phone on. Don’t turn it off, and don’t ignore my calls. No matter what happens, you have to tell me first. And remember, you must take good care of yourself, understand?"

’People always seem to be especially fragile and sensitive when they’re sick.’

He said these words without fail every time he called, but today, they felt exceptionally warm.

Annabelle Linton’s eyes reddened almost instantly, but she still said with a smile, "I know, I know. I’ll call you later."

Leona Grant closed his eyes, composing himself. He then said softly, "Remember, your husband will always be here for you. Even if the sky falls, I’ll hold it up for you. My Annabelle is always Leona Grant’s little baby, no matter what. So you must, must be happy every single day, understand?"

Annabelle Linton smiled, the bitter sting in her eyes growing stronger. Still, she did her best to make her voice sound normal as she replied, "I know."

"I miss you."

"Me too."

"I love you."

"Me too."

Leona Grant took a deep breath and said, "Let’s hang up."

"Okay."

After hanging up, the tears in Annabelle Linton’s eyes finally fell, streaming silently down her face.

She missed Leona Grant. So, so much.

But she couldn’t go see him.

In truth, they were both lying to each other.
