Chapter 786: I Don’t Want to Be Apart from You
Chapter 786: Chapter 786: I Don’t Want to Be Apart from You
’For the thousandth time, he was just so glad she was all right.’
’If something had happened to her too, he would have completely fallen apart.’
Leona Grant’s lips curved into a small smile.
’This was good, too.’
’If he really couldn’t make it, he would make sure her future was secure.’
...
The next day, the two of them spent another full day playing at the beach.
By the afternoon, it was time for Leona Grant to leave.
While he showered in the bathroom, Annabelle Linton neatly ironed the new clothes he had ordered.
He liked to wear freshly pressed clothes, as they wouldn’t have a single wrinkle.
When Leona Grant came out of the shower, Annabelle Linton had a simple meal ready. They ate, playfully feeding each other.
After they finished eating, Annabelle Linton helped him get dressed, fastening his buttons one by one before tying his tie.
Leona Grant looked down at her, his eyes full of affection. They were going to get married in two months.
Annabelle Linton finished tying the tie and looked up, her gaze meeting his soulful eyes. Her lips curved into a familiar smile. "What are you looking at?"
"You’re so beautiful." Leona Grant hugged her and kissed her softly, inhaling her scent. His heart fluttered as he whispered, "I don’t want to leave you."
Annabelle Linton smiled and stood on her tiptoes to wrap her arms around his neck. She whispered in his ear, "Don’t forget, our wedding is in two months. You know what they say—absence makes the heart grow fonder. When you come back, it’ll be like a honeymoon and a reunion all in one, twice as sweet. Just think of it that way, as holding out for something even better, okay?"
’Of course, that was just something to say. How could they possibly not separate?’
Leona Grant swept her into his arms, laid her on the bed, and kissed her deeply.
Annabelle Linton didn’t hold back, matching his passion with her own response.
Leona Grant already struggled to control himself whenever he touched her, and her eager response was nothing short of an invitation.
He kissed her, his lips trailing slowly down from her neck...
...
By the time they were finished, the sky had grown completely dark, and Annabelle Linton was fast asleep.
Leona Grant carried her to the bath and washed her, but she didn’t even stir.
He gently dressed her, carried her back to bed, and tucked her in. Then he knelt by the bedside, watching her tenderly and kissing her for a long, long time.
’He used to look at the world and feel speechless at people who would kill themselves for love or go crazy for it. He even found people who were dating to be incredibly boring.’
’The world was full of deceit and hypocrisy, of cheating and infidelity. Scumbags of both sexes were everywhere. There were even people who weren’t content with their own good lives and went out of their way to destroy other people’s families. He truly couldn’t fathom how their minds worked.’
’When you knew that love could only lead to pain, why would you go looking for heartbreak?’
’But ever since meeting Annabelle Linton, he understood everything.’
’Loving someone could be difficult, but being loved in return... that feeling was truly wonderful.’
’To have someone in this world, besides your own family, who wanted to be with you without any ulterior motives, who didn’t care about anything else, and who would never leave you no matter what happened... that feeling was incredible.’
’For Annabelle Linton, he would even die.’
Leona Grant watched her for a long, long time. Finally, he gave her the medicine, then quietly turned to leave.
’If he didn’t leave now, he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to bring himself to go at all.’
He turned off the light. The last trace of it lingered on Annabelle Linton’s face. For an instant, the light flashed on and off again. And then, he was truly gone.
Annabelle Linton opened her eyes, slipped on her shoes, and went to the floor-to-ceiling window to watch for him.
Sure enough, after a little while, he appeared in her line of sight.
