Chapter 802: Chapter 802: Forget Leona Grant, Just Live Your Life Earnestly

But now, she finally felt a sense of balance in her heart.

She could finally look him in the eye.

However, Annabelle Linton’s attention quickly zeroed in on the core of the matter.

"What about the antidote?" she asked. "Does your father have it?"

"The poison infecting you and Leona Grant is a virus custom-made according to our blood type," Quentin Holland explained. "The virus and its onset—everything has occurred exactly as you hypothesized. An antidote simply doesn’t exist. Even if one could be developed over time, neither of you has enough time to wait for it.

"Due to our unique blood types, our ancestors pioneered a technique a long time ago. They created a medicine using the first drop of blood drawn from the index finger right after birth. As long as it is ingested, this pill can cure any virus or disease in our bodies, from a minor cold to terminal cancer. However, it is exclusively effective for the three of us.

"This is the antidote I am talking about.

"When Leona was very young, my father poisoned him. He had to use his own medicine to save his life. That is one of the reasons the Stratton Family left.

"Right now, the antidote we found is my medicine, but it can only save one of you. Your medicine is in Country V, held by your parents."

Annabelle’s heart skipped a beat. Her eyelashes fluttered as she furrowed her brow. "What are the conditions for getting my medicine?"

"You must leave and go to Country V," Quentin said.

Annabelle fell silent for a moment before asking, "And after I go?"

Since she was the heir, she had long since abandoned the pipe dream of simply retrieving the medicine and returning to her peaceful life. Though she already knew the answer in her heart, she still couldn’t help but ask, clinging to a final, desperate sliver of hope.

Both Quentin and Aaron Wyatt fell into a heavy silence.

Lowering her gaze, Annabelle asked, her heart trembling, "I have to stay there and inherit Country V, don’t I?"

Neither of the men spoke.

Annabelle’s eyes slowly reddened, a bitter tightness spreading through her throat. "Is this something Leona can never know?" she asked softly.

They remained silent. But to Annabelle, their silence was a deafening answer. She knew she couldn’t let Leona find out. Why else would they wear such grim expressions?

Quentin sighed. "Back then, you were entrusted to Patrick Grant by the old King, our grandfather. Patrick agreed so that our grandfather could rest in peace, and also because he owed the old King a favor.

"If Leona found out about this, he would definitely raise hell. Secretly taking away the heir is a massive crime. It would effectively mean the Grant Family and Leona declaring war on the North Family, creating a chaotic fallout that would allow Valerius to reap the spoils."

"So what are you saying?" Annabelle asked. "That I should leave without telling Leona? But if I do that, wouldn’t Valerius just find a way to tell him anyway? Wouldn’t this all be for nothing?"

Quentin looked at her earnestly. "There’s no need to hide your illness anymore. You can tell Leona about that. Then, you simply need to leave for Country V in two months. We will handle the rest. As for Valerius, you just need to focus on living your life and forgetting Leona. Leave everything else to us."

Hearing those words pushed Annabelle to the brink of collapse. What did he mean by just focusing on her life and forgetting Leona? Without Leona Grant, how was she supposed to live?
