Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings
Chapter 445: Nicholas Is In The Veil. I Can Feel Him
Elena’s face went pale. "How fast?"
Victoria was quiet for a moment, clearly doing mental calculations. "If it continues at this rate? She’ll be twice as powerful as she is now within a month. Four times as powerful within two months. Within six months...."
"I’ll be too powerful to control," Lilith finished.
"Potentially," Victoria said. "Raw power without control is dangerous. You could destroy everything around you without meaning to. You could...."
She stopped, but Lilith could fill in the rest.
"You could become the very threat the supernatural community fears. The weapon Thalia wants. The monster the covens think you are."
"Then we train faster," Lilith said. "We accelerate. If my power is growing whether I want it to or not, I need to learn control before it becomes unmanageable."
"Agreed," Elena said. "But Lilith.....this changes everything. We can’t use traditional training methods. Your power is too volatile. Too unique. We need to...."
"Try meditation," Victoria interrupted. "Deep meditation. If we can help you connect with the Veil essence at its source, understand what it is and how it functions, maybe you can learn to guide its growth instead of just reacting to it."
"Worth trying," Elena said.
They guided Lilith to sit cross-legged in the center of the training circle.
"Close your eyes," Elena instructed. "Breathe deeply. And instead of reaching for your magic, I want you to sink into it. Let yourself fall into the power. Find the source. The origin point where the Veil essence resides."
Lilith closed her eyes and took a slow breath.
She reached inward. Past the surface layer of her magic. Past the dual currents she had been touching before.
Deeper.
Into the core of her being where power resided.
And found....
Grey nothing.
Lilith gasped as her consciousness plunged into a space that should not exist inside her.
The Veil. The same grey expanse she had seen when Nicholas anchored her soul during resurrection.
Endless. Formless. A space between life and death where lost souls wandered.
But this time Lilith wasn’t just visiting. She was looking at it from inside herself.
The Veil existed within her now. A pocket of that ancient space woven into her very essence.
"Lilith?" Victoria’s voice sounded far away. Distant. "What do you see?"
"The Veil," Lilith whispered. "I can see it. Inside me. It’s like....like a door that’s still open. A connection to that space that never fully closed when I came back."
"Can you interact with it?" Elena asked.
Lilith reached out mentally. Toward the grey expanse.
The moment she touched it, the space reacted.
Souls turned toward her. Faint shadows. Echoes of people who had died and not yet moved on to whatever came after.
And among them.....
A familiar presence.
Not visible. Not solid. But there.
Nicholas.
"He’s here," Lilith breathed. "Nicholas is in the Veil. I can feel him. He’s...." She stopped. "He’s watching me. Trying to reach through the connection."
"Lilith, you need to come back," Victoria said urgently. "Now. Before you get pulled in too deep."
But Lilith didn’t want to come back.
She wanted to stay here. In this grey space where Nicholas existed. Where she could feel him even if she couldn’t see him.
"Go back," Nicholas’s voice echoed through the nothing. "You’re not ready to be here yet. Go back, Lilith."
"I don’t want to," Lilith said. "I want to stay with you."
"You can’t," Nicholas said. "This isn’t your place. Not yet. You have work to do. Training to complete. A life to live. Go back."
"Nicholas...."
"I love you. I’m still here. But you have to go back."
The grey space began to dissolve.
Lilith felt herself being pulled away. Back toward consciousness. Back toward the training room.
She opened her eyes gasping.
Victoria and Elena were both standing over her. Victoria’s hands glowing with green magic. Elena’s with white light. Both of them clearly working to pull her back from wherever she had gone.
"What happened?" Elena demanded. "You went somewhere. Your consciousness left your body for almost a minute."
"The Veil," Lilith said. "I accessed it. From inside myself. There’s a door. A connection. And Nicholas is there. On the other side. He’s...." She looked at Victoria. "He’s still connected to me through the bonds. Still existing in that space somehow."
Victoria and Elena exchanged looks that were equal parts alarmed and fascinated.
"That’s...." Elena started. "That shouldn’t be possible. When someone is consumed by the Veil entity, they’re supposed to be destroyed completely. Erased. There shouldn’t be anything left to connect to."
"Unless the bonds are stronger than the entity," Victoria said slowly. "Unless the soul connection between Lilith and Nicholas was powerful enough to hold onto pieces of him even after consumption."
"Is that possible?" Lilith asked.
"I don’t know," Victoria admitted. "But Lilith....if it is possible, if Nicholas is somehow surviving through your connection to the Veil....." She stopped. "We need to be very careful. Because accessing the Veil from inside yourself is dangerous. You could get lost there. Pulled in too deep. Your consciousness could slip into that space and not be able to find its way back."
"Then we don’t use that in training," Elena said firmly. "Meditation exercises that connect you to the Veil are off the table until we understand what’s happening better."
"Agreed," Victoria said.
Lilith wanted to argue. Wanted to say that accessing the Veil might be the key to understanding her power.
But she also knew they were right. Getting lost in grey nothing while her body remained in the training room was a recipe for disaster.
"Fine," Lilith said. "What’s next?"
Elena looked at Victoria. "We accelerate everything. Combat training. Magic control. Teaching her to wield life and death together instead of separately. And we do it fast. Because Lilith....your power is growing. The threats are mobilizing. And we have less time than we thought."
"How much time?" Lilith asked.
Victoria’s expression was grim. "Weeks. Maybe a month if we’re lucky. Before either your power becomes uncontrollable or the supernatural factions arrive in force."
