The moment that I gathered the divine energy around my hand, it seemed like there was immortal energy that was released from the dagger.

The way that it released the immortal energy, it really seemed like it was responding to the divine energy.

But at the same time, I could feel that I could control the immortal energy if I wanted with just a single thought.

Whatever the divine energy had done, it had caused the immortal energy relic to fall under my control.

"It seems to be taking in some of the divine energy?"

I didn’t notice it at first since there was only a small amount that was being taken, but it seemed like the relic was absorbing a bit of my divine energy. It seemed like in return for the divine energy that was being taken, it was releasing this immortal energy.

"So they really are similar?"

If the relic was releasing immortal energy after absorbing the divine energy, then it meant that to a certain point, the two forms of energy must come from the same source.

But that didn’t really matter right now since it wasn’t as if this meant that they were exactly the same.

It was like how the cultivators weren’t able to adapt when they were completely surrounded in mana without a single trace of spiritual energy. Even though they were both forms of energy, it was like the mana was poison to the cultivators.

Once the dagger was releasing immortal energy, I focused on how to use that immortal energy on the corruption energy samples. However, I soon found that it was quite easy for me to direct the immortal energy at the corruption energy samples.

It turned out that this dagger had a very simple function which was to release the immortal energy out as an energy slash.

All it took was for me to point the dagger at the corruption energy sample that I wanted to shoot the immortal energy out at to release that immortal energy.

The moment that the immortal energy hit the corruption energy, it disappeared without a trace.

However, it wasn’t just the immortal energy alone that disappeared, it was also the corruption energy that disappeared as well.

This was a process that we were very familiar with since we had seen it many times before. It was just that it was also a bit different with how the immortal energy disappeared right away.

"So it does have the same effect as the divine energy." Max said while looking at the readings from the equipment. Though he said this, it didn’t seem like he was satisfied with what he was seeing.

I didn’t need to see the readings to know what he was dissatisfied with.

Even with just my eyes alone, I could clearly tell that this immortal energy wasn’t on the same level as the divine energy.

It wasn’t just the divine energy that I released, even the divine energy from the other relic users were stronger than this.

"Is it because those relics draw power from faith while this one draws power from the user? In this case, it would draw power from the one that created the relic rather than the user alone."

Or that would have been the case in a normal scenario.

It was just that I had felt my divine energy being pulled in when I used the relic, so I knew that it was drawing on my power as well.

As I held the dagger and looked at the other corruption energy samples, there was a thought that came to mind.

Since I was already planning on discarding this dagger after this test, then it really shouldn’t matter if I pushed it a bit harder.

With a single thought, there was more divine energy that gathered in my hand.

I had held back previously since I didn’t know what kind of effect gathering that much divine energy would have on the relic, but now it was different. Now, I wanted to flood the relic with the divine energy.

"It’s actually able to absorb it?" I was caught off guard by the sensation that followed, but that didn’t mean that I stopped. I actually wanted to see just what the limit of this relic would be if I used all this divine energy.

In the end, I wasn’t able to find it.

No matter how much divine energy I gathered, it didn’t seem to stop absorbing it.

But after a while, it didn’t seem like it was having much of an effect to give it more divine energy. It seemed like the relic had reached a limit on how much immortal energy it could release.

Even though it was still absorbing more divine energy, there was no more immortal energy that came out.

Since that was the case, the only thing that I could do was release the same immortal energy slash as before. Only this time, the immortal energy slash was much stronger than before.

It didn’t disappear the moment it cut through the corruption energy sample and even went for the corruption energy sample behind the first one.

This immortal energy slash was able to cut through four of them before disappearing.

It certainly wasn’t that strong, but it was still better than before.

However, this wasn’t the only thing that happened with this relic.

I found that even though I had used up the immortal energy the dagger released, it was still releasing more immortal energy. It was as if it was drawing on some kind of internal storage to release this immortal energy.

Only I knew that it wasn’t that simple.

"The rest of the divine energy that it absorbed, it kept it inside as energy to be used later."

So that meant that I could charge this immortal energy relic with a bunch of divine energy and keep releasing immortal energy slashes like this.

It was almost like some kind of weapon that ran on a battery.
