Chapter 2497: How strong are they? (3)

Since it was able to hold the charge, I was also curious just how much charge it would be able to hold.

I wasn’t the only one that was curious about this as I could see the way that Max was looking at me.

From what I had done, Max had already figured out the same thing.

It wasn’t strange that he was able to figure this out as well considering the genius that he was, but I realized that it wasn’t that simple either.

After all, I could see that he was looking at one of the screens in front of him.

When I looked at it as well, I found that he was looking at something that was measuring the amount of energy that the dagger released.

From this, he could see that there was more immortal energy that was being released from it even though I had already shot it once. He was seeing everything happen in real time, so it would have been strange if he hadn’t been able to figure this out.

Since he was using the instruments to measure it, it was actually better since it gave me an idea of just how much immortal energy it was producing.

Still, I waited until Max showed that he was ready.

Even though he was looking at the screen in front of him, he also seemed to be fiddling with other things on the side. It was as if he was setting up other things that would help him measure what I was about to show him.

Only when he looked away from the screen and looked at me did I start injecting the divine energy.

I knew that when he lost his patience, it meant that he had finished setting everything up and he wanted me to start as soon as possible. He was the kind of person that completely sunk himself into his research when he was interested in something.

With the divine energy entering the dagger, the immortal energy came out.

This time, I didn’t stop once the immortal energy reached a peak and continued pouring even more divine energy into the dagger.

After all, this time we were testing the limit of how much divine energy this dagger could absorb.

But while this was happening, it seemed like Max was dissatisfied with something.

He pulled out a few wires that he brought over, but he completely ignored me as he was focused on the dagger that was in my hand. The wires weren’t for me, but rather to put around the dagger to measure something.

During this time, he didn’t even let me take my hand off the dagger.

He started putting the wires on the dagger while I was still releasing the divine energy.

If it wasn’t for me controlling the divine energy and the immortal energy, then he might have gotten hurt from this. He really was someone that went all out when it came to his research.

He was someone that was completely focused on one thing when there was something that he was interested in.

In the end, it didn’t seem like he wanted to move away from me after he finished attaching the wires.

Seeing him like this, I had no choice but to give a cough and say, "I can’t channel it properly if you stay here like this."

A disappointed look flashed in Max’s eyes when he heard this, but he moved away in the end.

The only way to control him was to use the things that he cared about, or else he really wouldn’t listen to anyone.

Once he moved away, I continued channeling the divine energy with full force.

At first, it didn’t seem that special. But as more and more time passed, it was clear that the capacity of this dagger wasn’t small.

It didn’t seem like there was a limit to how much divine energy it was able to absorb.

I also had no idea just how many immortal energy slashes I would be able to release now that this dagger was charged with this much divine energy. But the fact that this dagger could take this divine energy really meant that it wasn’t normal.

"Or is it normal because it can take this much energy?" I couldn’t help thinking to myself afterwards.

In the first place, cultivators were people that relied on drawing in spiritual energy for their cultivation techniques. Then if the divine energy was being treated as a power source for the immortal energy, then it might be the same and that was why it was able to absorb this much.

In the end, I stopped thinking about it since there was someone better to leave this thinking to.

Though from the look on his face, it really seemed like he was just as stumped as I was.

Sensing that it wasn’t going to stop, I suddenly stopped releasing the divine energy.

When I did, Max looked at me as if he was saying, "What are you doing?"

However, I just pointed at the screens behind him and said, "Tell me what it says first. I want to see if you can even measure it before we keep going."

Once again, it didn’t seem like he was happy about this, but he still went over to look.

When he was done looking, I could see that his expression seemed to have turned even worse.

It seemed like it was just as I had expected, the equipment that he had just wasn’t suited for testing these things.

It wasn’t that his equipment was bad, it was just that this was something completely different.

We had never stress tested the immortal energy to this point before, so it was only natural that his equipment simply wasn’t at the level where it would be able to measure everything.

Once I saw that expression, I said, "We’ll do this again once the new equipment arrives."

It didn’t seem like Max wanted this to end, but there was no other choice.

So instead, I dangled something else in front of him.
