Steampunk: Sixth Era Epic
Chapter 2383: Sword of the Wind King
Chapter 2383: Chapter 2383: Sword of the Wind King
The red glow wrapped around the two sisters, and within this light, the Red Butterfly Maiden appeared in an elegant black and white gauze dress, and graciously kissed Shard:
"Honestly, be careful at Moon Bay."
"I know, entering the edge of life and death this time was unavoidable, but look, the nun is here, isn’t she?"
"With the nun around, of course we’re relieved."
The maiden carefully patted her chest, which seemed flat but was actually quite ample:
"What shall we do next? Chase that person? Or solve the strange thing in the middle of the bridge together... Such pure death, sir, you should know what that is~"
Her tone naturally carried a hint of a coquettish voice.
"Of course I know. You don’t need to do anything next; Sister Delphine and I will handle it."
Shard smiled and kissed the maiden’s forehead:
"The big event at Moon Bay is almost over, but not yet. Dorothy and Lecia are ready on their end, and we’ll need your power then."
"Of course, always at your service, sir."
The Red Butterfly Maiden tenderly released Shard and then looked toward the "Fate" Grand Witch:
"Good evening, Belindel. Do we need to introduce ourselves? We are Zina Cassandra’s teachers, butterflies flying from the Fifth Era to the Sixth Era."
The gentle tone suddenly turned cold.
"I know who you are, yes, I know."
The birthmark on her brow was vividly clear even in the mist. The Treasure Bead in her right shoulder emitted warm heat, preventing her from getting lost in the mist of death, yet it made her more acutely aware of the terrifying power of the relic in front of her.
Despite knowing they were allies, she still found it hard to see Grace and Helen as ordinary girls like her. She forced a smile to greet them, then "hid" behind Shard, internally marveling at Shard’s ability to utilize any form of power.
To avoid the aftermath of the battle, John Flynn and his group had retreated to a safer distance, reappearing only after the six descending from above the Moon Bay Bridge.
The young man wielding the Sword of the Wind King reinserted the longsword into its scabbard, leaving his three companions behind as he walked towards Shard alone:
"Meeting again, Mr. Watson."
His attitude was respectful, considering the power displayed by both Shard and the ladies around him commanded awe.
"Good evening. How did you find your way here?"
Shard directly asked, not shying away, and the young man disclosed without reservation:
"We’ve recently established a cooperative relationship with the True God Church. I’ve informed them of my status as a candidate. In this operation, the church arranged for us to join the exploration of the edge of life and death. We initially followed the main party, but after encountering a wave of Undead Tides, we dispersed and unknowingly ended up here."
This person was either the first candidate or the second, and his character was kind and upright. Even though he and Shard fought intensely during their first meeting in Tobesk due to their respective missions, Shard held a positive view of him.
As for John Flynn’s association with the True God Church, Shard wasn’t particularly surprised, considering John Flynn even made friends with Mr. Coroner Albert:
"Was the Light Chaser here from the start?"
"Yes, he was already here when we arrived. I suspect he was waiting for you from the beginning."
John Flynn had his suspicions about Shard’s identity but adamantly refrained from mentioning it:
"I don’t know much about the edge of life and death. Before entering here with my three friends, we learned some details from the Church of Nature. Although we have the amulets provided by the church, the four of us can’t withstand another battle. The core of this incident is ahead, Mr. Watson, I’ll leave it to you."
With that, he nodded slightly, turned to leave, but Shard called him back:
"Would you like to make another deal?"
Shard proactively suggested:
"I’ll share some information about the Chosen One Ceremony if you let me examine your sword."
John Flynn barely hesitated and handed over the sword:
"Of course."
Shard passed the Time Flute to Miss Eles, accepted the Sword of the Wind King without unsheathing it, and began:
"The Chosen One Ceremony for the Chosen One of Light requires a sort of trial to acquire status. If my understanding is correct, it involves defeating specific adversaries in a determined sequence. Didn’t the Light Chaser mention the Higgs Dragonhead Stone? Do you know this relic?"
"Yes, when I was in the New World, I also heard the deeds of the renowned ’God Summoner’... Does it require defeating a target transformed into a dragon using the Ancient Dragon Transformation Stone?"
John Flynn speculated, Shard shook his head:
"I don’t know either, my understanding is limited to this. Of course, the Higgs Dragonhead Stone is in the hands of the God Summoner, but I don’t know where the Hafana Dragon Body Stone is."
"Dragon Feast Cult."
Suddenly the young man said:
"We, the New World Mutual Aid Society, have had some encounters with the Dragon Feast Cult in the New World. Please wait a moment."
He turned to call over his refined middle-aged companion, who looked like a clergy, and after exchanging a few words, he said to Shard:
"The circle sorcerers in the Mutual Aid Society, about three years ago, saw an eight-rings sorcerer from the Dragon Feast Cult using that relic. And not merely using it, but embedding the stone into the chest to strengthen the transplanted dragon heart and dragon lungs."
"Relic fusion technology of the Truth Society?"
Shard frowned and asked, John Flynn nodded:
"Yes, we suspect that the Dragon Feast Cult learned relic fusion technology from the Truth Society. In fact, the Truth Society indeed collaborated with the Dragon Feast Cult to research the ability of dragon bloodlines to infect humans. But I don’t know if the cultists brought the Hafana Dragon Body Stone to Moon Bay."
The relic is highly likely to be in Moon Bay, even if the Dragon Feast Cult doesn’t know it’s the required relic for the Chosen One Ceremony, fate will certainly bring that relic here in a reasonable way.
After communicating this information, Shard drew the Sword of the Wind King from the scabbard in the mist.
The Sage-Level Relic, Sword of the Wind King, requires one to have a noble character to use, otherwise it is merely a sharp longsword. The sword shows a complex metallic color blending cobalt blue and sky blue, with a gold hilt. The longsword is not heavy, and can even be said to be somewhat light.
The outlander, although not considering himself a standard good person, was not rejected by the sword. As for its negative trait, it seems related to the risk of summoning wind, but Shard was just trying the sword’s power, so he was not concerned about it.
The longsword, when drawn from the scabbard, is completely invisible, but Shard could clearly perceive its shape and location when holding it. After attempting to swing it twice, he suddenly slashed towards the sky. The dazzling silver moonlight flew into the mist-covered high air, and along with the glimmer, the gale actually dispersed a large area of white fog above everyone’s heads.
"A casual swing results in a high-intensity wind blade..."
By a certain method, the invisible longsword can be made visible; in this visible state, the Sword of the Wind King possesses more powerful strength, full use can even directly summon storms.
But Shard did not do so, only "observing" it one last time, his gaze lingered briefly on the ancient language on the blade, "Even a gale cannot bend justice", then inserted the longsword back into the scabbard, returning it to John Flynn:
"Today is Sunday, do you have time tomorrow afternoon? I want to meet you at the Spider Inn in Spider Alley, I have something to discuss."
"No problem, I’ll wait for you there at two in the afternoon."
The young man said, then nodded slightly to the ladies behind Shard, and led his three companions towards a direction away from Moon Bay Bridge.
"They really left, not hiding nearby."
The black-and-white skirt lady controlling the butterflies said softly. The ladies who hadn’t spoken earlier spoke:
"Seems like a nice person, pity he’s a man."
This was the assessment of Miss Sylvia.
"His fate is indeed unique, but the threat of death also looms over him."
The Countess said, while the Blue Dragon Girl was more concerned about the sword:
"I’ve never seen the Sword of the Wind King, but its practicality is strong. The sword was blessed by the Old Gods of the Four Elements—wind, fire, water, and earth. Although the requirements for holding it are a bit strict, it’s one of the most useful weapons among the Sage-Level."
Sister Delphine’s words were fewer:
"He has a very pure light on him, his talents related to light have yet to be displayed."
As for the Red Butterfly Maiden, they cared little about John Flynn:
"Sir, let’s resolve the matters here. Once you leave the edge of life and death, we’ll return to Midshire Fort."
Even though the previous battle dispersed the heavy fog surrounding Moon Bay Bridge several times, the fog in the central location of the bridge remained. Confirming that the surroundings were safe, the group of six continued to proceed deeper into the bridge in the fog under the Moon Bay Bridge.
The fog grew thicker, and even Shard felt a bit discomfort from the aura of death.
To resist this extremely unfriendly power to the living, the rings on Miss Sylvia’s right hand and Miss Belindel’s hand bracelet gradually emitted golden light, Miss Eles also revealed the wings on her back and small dragon horns on her forehead.
Sister Delphine still held that dark gold scythe, while the surface of Shard’s body gradually appeared cracked, with the cracks symbolizing the Fire of the Primordial showing crimson light traces.
