Chapter 439: Chapter 265: 3 Strands of Source Essence
"Are you okay?"
Su Xing asked calmly. Ling Zhongxing just shook his head, smiling with an air of absolute confidence.
"Of course I’m fine. I knew you wouldn’t let anything happen to me."
"Of course."
Su Xing smiled as well.
The White Impermanence who had been sent flying, however, was not faring so well. He was merely Chi Yu’s right hand, and his strength wasn’t that great to begin with.
Su Xing was even stronger now, so the blow sent him stumbling to his knees. He stayed down for a few seconds before struggling back to his feet, murmuring:
"How can you be this powerful?"
Chi Yu and Su Xing had last fought only three days ago. But in just that short time, Su Xing had grown stronger still. This change instilled a deep sense of unease in Chi Yu’s subordinate, for Su Xing’s rate of improvement was simply far too fast.
"You talk too much."
Li Ye gently stroked the sword in his hand. It seemed connected to the Cyan Cloud Sect’s Cyan Cloud Sword Array, and rich Spiritual Qi flowed between his fingers. In the time leading up to this, the trio’s preparations had turned the entire Cyan Cloud Sect into the perfect hunting ground.
"Cyan Cloud Sword Array, activate."
He flicked the tip of his sword. A sharp ring echoed across the land, seeming to trace the glowing lines of the great array into existence.
"Puppets, come forth."
The moment Tong Yinyin spoke, several puppets materialized from nowhere. They rushed toward the very core of the Cyan Cloud Sword Array. As long as they guarded that spot, the array could unleash its true power.
As for Su Xing, he remained at Ling Zhongxing’s side. He didn’t make a move, instead watching the scene unfold and contemplating his best course of action. Ling Zhongxing, for his part, was completely at ease, seemingly unconcerned about being a mere seventh-rank cultivator caught in the middle of such an insane battle.
"Heh heh..."
"Come back, Xiaoyou."
Chi Yu said in a chilling tone. The fallen White Impermanence immediately dissolved into a long, fleshy appendage that attached itself to Chi Yu’s right arm, the two fusing into one.
Su Xing had fought Chi Yu before, so he knew a little about the man. He understood that Chi Yu had a unique mastery over space.
He also knew Chi Yu’s physical body was incredibly strong and that his right hand was sentient. However, Su Xing hadn’t truly crossed blades with him last time, so he remained completely vigilant, not underestimating his opponent in the slightest.
With an explosive launch that shattered the ground beneath him, Chi Yu shot into the air. He reappeared on the western side of a rooftop, moonlight casting him in an eerie, chilling light. A moment later, a sonic boom ripped through the air.
Like a cannonball, Chi Yu plummeted from the sky. His target, without a doubt, was the Cyan Cloud Sword Array that Li Ye was controlling.
Li Ye was a former member of the Cyan Cloud Sect and was naturally familiar with the Cyan Cloud Sword Array. While it was a strain for one person to control such a grand formation, it wasn’t impossible. Therefore, Chi Yu’s first instinct was undoubtedly to destroy the array.
Logically, the core of the Cyan Cloud Sword Array wasn’t something just anyone could find. Moreover, Chi Yu had seen the array for less than a minute; there was no way he could have deciphered it so quickly. The only explanation was that he had learned of its location from some other source.
In that case,
it was all but confirmed that Chi Yu had been secretly meddling within the Cyan Cloud Sect.
"I’ve been waiting for you."
Li Ye stood in a pond, holding the Cyan Peak Longsword. The pond wasn’t large, but it bore a well-known name: the Sword-locking Pool.
The Sword-locking Pool was a feature found in almost every sect that specialized in the sword. Its primary function was to store blades, but within the Cyan Cloud Sect, it served another purpose.
And that was...
...to give a Cyan Cloud Sect disciple the power and the trump card needed to activate a Sword Array alone.
Li Ye swung his sword, severing the iron chains over the Sword-locking Pool. Seventy-two ancient swords, long steeped in the pool’s waters, shot out at once. Sensing the aura of the Cyan Cloud Sword Array, they instantly fell into formation, merging with the greater array to become a force to annihilate Chi Yu.
All of this had been prepared by Ling Zhongxing.
Since they had arrived early, it only made sense to use the Cyan Cloud Sect’s home-field advantage to lay the perfect ambush. This was the easiest way to take Chi Yu down with minimal effort. It was just that Chi Yu’s strength was still outrageously high.
"Petty tricks!"
Seeing the seventy-two longswords, Chi Yu just bellowed. His speed didn’t decrease in the slightest; instead, he accelerated, creating a series of shockwaves as he moved.
The puppets Tong Yinyin had set in place instinctively moved to block Chi Yu from destroying the array’s core, but upon sensing his terrifying aura, they hesitated for a brief moment—even though they were already dead.
"Do you really think... a few trash puppets and some rusty swords can stop me?!"
Chi Yu burst into manic laughter, a sound so piercing it made the eardrums of everyone in the Cyan Cloud Sect ache. More and more people turned their attention to the commotion, but when they saw who was fighting, they were left utterly dumbfounded.
"What the hell is going on?!"
"Why are the Demoness, the traitor, and Elder Su fighting a..."
At this point, it was hard to say what Chi Yu even was. His right arm swelled rapidly, sprouting giant claws that looked less human and more bestial. He threw a single punch, and space itself seemed to shatter as all of Tong Yinyin’s puppets were obliterated into mincemeat.
