System Glitch! I Accidentally Saved The Zombie Emperor
Chapter 164: Treasure Hunting
Hearing Liu Yun’s request, the captain breathed a sigh of relief. "Of course. We can offer you one kilogram of rice in exchange for one kilogram of vegetables."
’A single Basic Carrot should weigh more than twenty kilograms. I think this is a pretty good deal.’ After considering the offer for a moment, Liu Yun nodded.
"Deal."
Seeing how straightforward she was, the captain’s eyes lit up. Leaning forward slightly, he asked, "Young lady, how many mutated carrots are you willing to exchange?"
Liu Yun had already given the captain one Basic Carrot. She still had 135 Basic Carrots stored in the Multiverse Farmland warehouse, but she needed to keep some for the Mutant Queen and her team.
’Let’s exchange a little bit first and see the grains’ quality.’ After calculating for a moment, she replied, "I have nine more."
The moment she said this, the captain felt a little disappointed.
Ten mutated carrots would be enough to feed a small team, but compared with the enormous demand for food at the military base, they were barely a drop in the ocean.
Although disappointed, the captain kept his feelings off his face.
Smiling at Liu Yun, he said, "Very well. We have already weighed the first mutated carrot, and it weighs 37.2 kilograms. Please take out the remaining nine, and we will weigh them right away."
"Alright," Liu Yun replied before taking out nine Basic Carrots from the Multiverse Farmland warehouse.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
One after another, the nine Basic Carrots appeared on the ground.
At this sight, the captain immediately turned to the soldier and ordered, "Go and bring the scales."
"Yes, Captain!"
The soldier hurried out of the tent and soon returned carrying a large weighing scale. After placing it on the ground, he and the captain began weighing the Basic Carrots one by one.
A few minutes later, the captain and the soldier placed the last Basic Carrot on the weighing scale.
Glancing at the number displayed on the screen, the captain turned to Liu Yun and said, "Young lady, the total weight of all ten mutated carrots is 305.7 kilograms. I will have my men collect the same amount of rice from the warehouse right away. Please wait here for a moment."
"Alright."
After receiving her agreement, the captain and the soldier carried the Basic Carrots out of the tent.
Once she was alone, Liu Yun covered her mouth to suppress her excitement as she screamed inwardly, ’Heavens! Ten Basic Carrots in exchange for 305.7 kilograms of rice! What an incredible deal!’
While Liu Yun was celebrating her good fortune, the captain called over several nearby soldiers and ordered, "You there! Go to the warehouse and bring back 305.7 kilograms of rice."
The soldiers immediately saluted and responded in unison, "Yes, Captain!"
After they left to carry out his order, the captain turned to the soldier who had sent the Basic Carrot to the laboratory.
"Go and call a few more men. Have them transport these mutated carrots to headquarters immediately."
"Yes, Captain!" The soldier then quickly gathered several more men to help transport the carrots.
Watching his men carry the precious vegetables away, the captain clenched his fists and took a deep breath.
’I hope these mutated carrots can buy Base Commander Gu some time until Professor Lin develops a cure for the X Virus.’
By the time the first group of soldiers returned with the rice, more than ten minutes had passed.
Seeing them approaching with bags of rice on their shoulders, the captain lifted the tent flap and said, "Bring them inside."
Inside the tent, Liu Yun’s eyes lit up at the sight of the rice. She immediately stood up and walked toward the soldiers.
When the soldiers put down the rice, she pointed at the bags and asked, "May I check the rice?"
"Of course," the captain replied.
He drew a military dagger from his waist and used it to open one of the bags. Then, he scooped up a handful of rice and showed it to Liu Yun.
"This rice comes from Ji City’s granary. It was harvested last year, but you can rest assured that there are no insects or sand in it."
Liu Yun examined the plump grains with satisfaction. "The quality is indeed very good. I’ll take it."
"Would you like to weigh it yourself?" the captain asked.
Smiling at him, Liu Yun replied, "There’s no need for that. I trust that the base wouldn’t cheat me over a little rice."
The captain watched as the bags of rice disappeared the moment Liu Yun waved her hand. He glanced at his subordinates, whose faces were filled with astonishment, before turning his attention back to her.
"Young lady, if you have more mutated vegetables in the future, you can bring them here or deliver them directly to the Third Division’s barracks. My name is Jia Junyan. You can find me here on Distribution Day or visit me at the Third Division’s barracks."
"Understood. My name is Liu Yun."
Having finally learned her name, Jia Junyan smiled and said, "Then I will look forward to your next visit."
"See you next time, Captain Jia." After bidding him farewell, Liu Yun left the tent in high spirits.
As she walked away from the main square, she called out to the System. ’System, help me locate Gu Lingjian.’
Ding!
[Tracking in progress.]
A few seconds later, a transparent blue screen appeared before Liu Yun, displaying a detailed map of Lie Huo Military Base.
Looking at the map, Liu Yun was surprised to discover several small golden dots scattered across it. Her eyes immediately lit up as she exclaimed excitedly.
’Golden dots!’
Suppressing her excitement, she said, ’System, mark all these golden dots for me. We are going treasure hunting today!’
Ding!
[Potential opportunities have been marked.]
Rubbing her hands together excitedly, Liu Yun jogged toward the nearest golden dot.
Meanwhile, the group of soldiers had arrived at the military headquarters in the central ring area.
