The Apocalypse Took Everything, This Time I Hoard It All First
Chapter 145: Meeting Shay Kramer Again
Chapter 145: Chapter 145: Meeting Shay Kramer Again
Before long, the overwhelming, spicy aroma of the red-oil hotpot wafted outward. Over twenty meters away near the restaurant, the survivors swallowed hard. They mentally howled, "Holy shit! That smells too damn good. I’m crying from the cravings!"
Dylan DuPont and his group could only sit silently in the warehouse, pulling out self-heating hotpots to satisfy their hunger. Smelling the mouth-watering scent from next door, their faces practically fell in despair.
In another warehouse, Lance Miller’s squad huddled together, whispering in hushed tones.
"Damn it! How is that group’s luck so good? They open a warehouse and find a light-gauge steel villa? Who in their right mind puts a villa here?!"
"Captain Miller, they aren’t simple. Their entire team is at the Third Rank!"
"So what if they’re at the Third Rank? It’s still just three women serving a bunch of men, heh."
Lance’s eyes were dark and calculating. He thought to himself, "Those broads are seriously smoking hot. If we can get our hands on them, plus their Space Ability, who would still bother driving these piece-of-shit trucks!"
He shot a glance toward Yara Sawyer, keeping his voice low. "Yara, your superpower never misses. Tomorrow, once Dylan is gone, we’ll loop back around and let you drug them all."
Logan Wright felt a bit apprehensive. "Yara is only at the first rank. Those previous two squads were Second Order, and that woman is Third Rank. Will it really work?"
Lance pondered for a few seconds. "I’ll give her a Crystal Core to absorb later. I guarantee she’ll advance to the Second Order by tomorrow morning. It won’t be a problem."
Upon hearing this, the other teammates’ eyes instantly filled with lecherous intent. "Understood! Those women have top-tier faces and bodies. Once we take care of all the men, won’t the women be entirely at our mercy?"
Only Yara was inside her tent arranging her sleeping bag, her expression exceptionally foul. She cursed internally, "Dog! I’ve served you for so long, yet you still drool over other young girls the moment you see them. You even scheme right in front of me. Next time I get the chance, I’ll definitely carve up those vixens’ faces!"
As expected, the moment civilized order collapsed, all the worst of humanity showed their true colors.
On Luna Dawson’s side, the group finished their hotpot and each picked a room to rest, completely ignoring the other people working overtime through the night to unbox packages in the warehouse.
Luna assigned Rollo to keep watch for the night. The little dog could just go into her space to catch up on sleep tomorrow anyway. Tina also stayed up to keep Rollo company, and the two took turns napping. Seeing this only made Luna grow fonder of the little creature.
Shane Shaw brought Nancy Sullivan along and rented a twin room from Luna. He took out a Crystal Core and let Nancy absorb it, hoping his sister could advance to the next rank.
By the time the next morning arrived, the little ones in the space were still lazily refusing to come out. Luna’s group, however, got out of bed feeling completely refreshed. After washing up, they leisurely ate their breakfast. Leaning against the window, they watched the two squads outside, who were already busy loading their vehicles, as if enjoying a theatrical show.
Suddenly, Nancy came skipping out, her face brimming with joy. "I ranked up! After absorbing the Crystal Core all night, I finally broke through to the Second Order!"
Everyone immediately gathered around to congratulate her, genuinely happy for her success. Shane stood to the side, looking at his sister’s sparkling eyes, completely unable to hide the proud smile on his lips.
"Tch, it’s just the Second Order. A turtle crawls faster than you."
Aaron Palmer’s mouth had always been asking for a beating. He leaned against the doorframe, cynically pouring cold water on the mood.
Nancy instantly bristled like a furious cat. Planting her hands on her hips, she lunged at him. "Aaron Palmer, you’re asking for it!"
Aaron was already prepared. Flashing a cheeky grin, he grabbed Miles Dawson—who was busy munching on a scallion pancake and slurping soy milk through a straw—and bolted like a greased pig to join the commotion of the loading process.
The two of them squeezed to the side of the loading crews, still restless as they stood there pointing fingers and giving unprompted directions.
"Hey, hey, stack it this way! You can fit way more like this!"
"Can you hurry up? You’ve been dawdling forever and only moved this tiny bit. You’re so trash at this!"
Standing not far away, Dylan watched the two goofballs, dark lines practically forming on his forehead. Their mouths were truly relentless, capable of talking the hind legs off a donkey.
However, on second thought, this trip wasn’t a total wash. A first-rank Space Ability user named Wyatt Wade had joined their team. Although he only had about ten square meters of space, he could still store a significant amount of supplies.
With this new assistance, he could also boost his team members’ morale, encouraging them to step out of the base more often to train their superpowers and adapt to the rhythm of the apocalypse as quickly as possible.
The group laughed as they watched the men working in full swing. In reality, they had only opened a few warehouses close to the restaurant, and the two squads couldn’t even finish packing the contents of three warehouses.
Luna wasn’t in a hurry. She patiently waited for them to finish loading and leave so she could pack the entire transit hub into her space.
It wasn’t long before Lance and Dylan finished loading their vehicles. Kevin Keane and the others also casually cleared out the remaining hundred or so zombies in the logistics park.
"You guys head back first," Luna said. "There’s no need to waste time here. We’ll just pick through the rest ourselves."
Dylan nodded. After exchanging a few pleasantries to say goodbye, he and Lance started their vehicles and drove off in the direction of the Seventh District.
Luna hadn’t hidden the fact that she had a space, but she never revealed exactly how large it was or how much it could hold. Showing her strength made getting things done easier, but her trump cards had to remain hidden.
As for Shane and Nancy, although they got along well, human nature in the apocalypse was unpredictable. If they truly showed any suspicious movements later, she could simply take them out. There was nothing to fear.
But who could have known that less than twenty minutes after the two convoys set off, Lance’s fleet would stop and turn back. He even used the excuse that they had forgotten something on the second floor of the restaurant and needed to retrieve it.
Dylan watched them through his rearview mirror, his gaze darkening. He thought, "Heh, overestimating their own capabilities. Truly, you can’t save someone who’s hell-bent on digging their own grave."
Back at the site, Shane and Nancy had long since opened a warehouse near the entrance, picking and choosing what to pack into their space. In no time, they had gathered just about everything they needed.
Once the two squads were completely out of sight, Luna walked up to the front of every warehouse, pressed her hand against the doors, and stored all the supplies inside from a distance.
In less than ten minutes, every package and shelf in the entire logistics transit hub had been stuffed into her space.
Seeing this, the group immediately began cleaning up the scene, preparing to set off for their next destination.
But right at that moment, a loud RATTLING sound of dragging iron chains suddenly echoed from the direction of the logistics park’s main gate, breaking the silence of the area.
The group paused, collectively raising their heads to look over, only to see two off-road vehicles and a truck slowly driving in.
"It looks like another squad," Evan Olson whispered, narrowing his eyes as he stared sharply at the main gate.
A moment later, the vehicles came to a steady halt. The doors swung open, and seven figures stepped out, walking straight toward Luna’s group.
Luna looked up, a trace of coldness instantly flashing through her eyes. Well, what do you know, it truly was a small world when it came to enemies!
The seven people strutted forward arrogantly, their postures exceedingly flaunting, exuding hostility from head to toe.
"Sis! It’s that woman who picked a fight with us!" Miles recognized Shay Kramer in the group at a single glance. Frowning, he immediately leaned close to Luna and tattled.
Luna and the others were originally just about to step into the light-gauge steel villa to clean up the dining table and leave. They never expected to bump into this annoying group the moment they turned around, causing their footsteps to instantly halt.
Shay’s gaze landed on Miles the very first second. When she saw the snow combat suit he was wearing, her pupils suddenly shrank. She instantly realized that they were the ones driving that massive off-road vehicle!
No wonder she had felt that the vehicle looked so familiar earlier. It turned out to be the exact same one she and Yolanda Kramer had sat in on the second day of the apocalypse!
