Chapter 55: Chapter 55:Maya Saw The Kiss

"Hello, how active is your blog? I have a video I want you to post," Laura said as soon as the call connected.

"Oh, don’t worry about that. I have thirteen million followers across all my social media platforms. Whatever I post gets attention," the person replied confidently.

Laura raised an eyebrow.

"Hmm. Thirteen million followers? I don’t think that’s enough," she said.

There was a brief silence on the other end.

"Wait a minute. What kind of video are we talking about? Is it something controversial?" the person asked curiously.

Laura smiled as she glanced at the road ahead.

"It’s exactly what the internet wants. Something people will talk about for days. Just relax. I’ll get back to you when everything is ready."

"Alright, but I hope this is worth my time. You know I don’t post just anything."

"Trust me. You won’t regret it."

Laura ended the call and dropped her phone on the passenger seat.

A satisfied smile slowly appeared on her face.

She imagined the embarrassment, the endless comments, and the countless people sharing the video. She could already picture Flora’s face when the scandal became public.

"Let’s see how powerful you will be when the whole world starts laughing at you," she muttered.

Her fingers tightened around the steering wheel.

"By the time this video is out, your reputation will be ruined. Everyone will finally see what kind of chameleon you are."

She laughed softly.

Just then, something caught her attention.

Two beautiful young women were walking towards the restaurant entrance. They were elegantly dressed, with attractive figures and confident smiles.

Laura slowed down and watched them through her windscreen.

"Such beautiful angels," she whispered, her eyes moving from one woman to the other.

A mischievous smile appeared on her face.

"These are exactly the kind of girls I need for my business."

She continued watching them for a few seconds.

"Perfect. Absolutely perfect."

She checked her appearance in the rearview mirror, and stepped out of the car.

"Excuse me," Laura called out.

The two girls stopped and turned around, looking at her with surprised expressions. They exchanged a brief glance, wondering how the strange woman knew them.

Laura smiled as she approached them.

"I just saw you both from my car," she explained, pointing towards her red Ferrari. "My name is Laura."

The girls looked at each other.

"I’m Evelyn," one of the girls introduced herself.

"And I’m Treasure," the other added.

"Nice to meet you both," Laura said with a friendly smile.

"Nice to meet you too," they replied.

"Can I have your contact numbers? I have a business deal for you," Laura said.

They paused, their curiosity growing.

"A business deal?" Evelyn asked.

"Yes. I’ll explain everything when we speak," Laura replied.

They exchanged numbers with her.

"Thank you. I’ll give you a call," Laura said.

She turned around and walked back towards her Ferrari while the girls continued into the restaurant.

Laura got into her car, started the engine, pressed the accelerator and drove off.

MEANWHILE, AT FLORA’S MANSION

The evening was relatively quiet at Flora’s mansion.

The gardener stood near the flower beds, holding a small gardening tool while the housekeeper arranged some freshly washed clothes nearby.

The gardener glanced towards the main building before lowering his voice.

"I hope this isn’t what I’m thinking," he said.

The housekeeper looked at him.

"What are you talking about?"

He moved closer and spoke in a quieter voice.

"I don’t want to wake up one morning and discover that Simon has officially become my new boss."

The housekeeper immediately burst into laughter.

"Why not? I wouldn’t mind that at all."

The gardener looked at her as though she had just said something ridiculous.

"What do you mean you wouldn’t mind?"

She shrugged.

"Did you notice how cute they were staring at each other today? It was magical. They make a perfect match."

The gardener stared at her in disbelief.

"You really don’t have sense. Have you completely lost your mind?"

The housekeeper placed her hands on her waist.

"Excuse me? What exactly is wrong with what I said?"

He shook his head and pointed at her.

"It’s obvious you’ve washed your brain with detergent. How can you stand there and imagine such things?"

The housekeeper gasped.

"Detergent? Is that the best your little brain could come up with?"

The housekeeper laughed sarcastically.

"Well, you have used scissors to trim away your own sense of judgment. That’s why you can’t see the future."

The gardener opened his mouth to respond.

"Listen, woman, let me tell you something—"

"Tell me what? Are you jealous?"

"Jealous? Of Simon? Don’t make me laugh!"

"Then why are you so worried about him?"

"I’m not worried about anybody! I simply don’t want to start addressing someone who was employed as a driver yesterday as my boss tomorrow!"

The housekeeper laughed even harder.

"Well, you better start practising. You never know!"

The gardener shook his head.

"God, please give this woman some sense."

"Keep praying. You need it more than I do," she replied.

Suddenly, they heard a movement behind them.

Both of them froze.

The gardener’s eyes widened as he quickly turned around. The housekeeper almost dropped the clothes in her hands.

"Oh my God!" They exclaimed.

It was Maya.

She stood a few steps away, looking at both of them with a slightly raised eyebrow.

The gardener immediately straightened his back, while the housekeeper hurriedly adjusted the clothes in her hands.

"Good evening ,Miss Maya," they greeted almost at the same time.

Maya looked from one face to the other.

"What are you two doing here?" she asked.

The gardener swallowed.

"Nothing, Miss. We were just having a little conversation."

Maya narrowed her eyes.

"A conversation?"

"Yes, Miss," the housekeeper quickly answered.

Maya folded her arms.

Maya looked the people standing before her up and down. Her expression remained cold, and she clearly had no interest in exchanging words with anyone. Without saying anything, she turned around and headed towards the staff wing.

As she approached the building, she glanced around, searching for someone.

"Grace! Where are you?" she called out.

A few seconds later, Grace appeared from one of the rooms. She quickly adjusted her clothes before walking towards Maya.

"Miss Maya," she greeted politely. "Good evening."

Maya barely acknowledged her greeting.

"Good evening. Where is everyone?" she asked, looking around the staff wing.

"They are inside, Miss Maya. Is there something you need?"

Maya stared at her for a moment before asking, "What happened today?"

Grace looked slightly confused.

"Nothing unusual, Miss Maya. Everything has been fine."

"Nothing?" Maya repeated, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, Miss Maya. We have been carrying out our duties as usual."

Maya studied her face, as though trying to determine whether she was hiding something.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

Grace nodded. "Yes, Miss Maya. Is there any problem?"

Maya did not answer immediately. She looked past Grace towards the other rooms, then turned her attention back to her.

"Where is my mother?"

"Madam Flora is inside the living room, Miss Maya."

"Alright."

Maya turned around and began walking away.

Grace watched her for a moment before heading back into her room..

Inside the living room, Flora was having a conversation with Simon. Both of them seemed to be in a good mood, and occasional laughter filled the spacious room.

"Honestly, that woman is crazy. I have never seen anything like that in my entire life," Simon said, shaking his head.

Flora chuckled, placing her teacup on the table.

"Well, you should have seen the expression on her face when I confronted her. I almost felt sorry for her," she replied.

Simon burst into laughter.

"Ma, you scared the living daylights out of her. I thought she was going to faint right there."

"She should be grateful that I didn’t make things worse for her," Flora said, smiling.

They both laughed again.

For a moment, Simon simply stared at her. His eyes slowly settled on her face, taking in every little detail. There was something about Flora that always left him fascinated.

He looked directly into her eyes, his expression suddenly becoming serious.

"Ma," he called softly.

Flora turned towards him.

"Yes, Simon?"

He hesitated before taking a step closer.

"Do you really mean what you did today, or was it just for the moment?"

Flora frowned slightly.

"What are you talking about?"

Simon moved a little closer, his gaze never leaving hers.

"You know exactly what I’m talking about. I just want to know if you meant it."

Flora immediately stepped backwards, creating some distance between them.

"Simon, is something wrong with you?" she asked, looking at him suspiciously.

Simon remained silent.

"You should understand that it was only for the moment. I needed to make her uncomfortable and put her under pressure. That was all. Now, wake up and stop asking me such silly questions."

Simon lowered his gaze briefly, but a faint smile appeared on his lips.

"Alright, Ma."

"Good. I don’t want to repeat myself."

Before Flora could say anything else, Simon reached for her hand and gently held it.

"Simon, what—"

He immediately bent his head and placed a soft kiss on the back of her hand.

At that exact moment, the living room door opened.

Maya stepped inside.

She stopped immediately.

Her eyes widened as she stared at the scene before her. Simon’s lips were still pressed against her mother’s fingers, while Flora stood before him.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

Maya’s expression changed.

"What exactly is going on here?" she asked coldly.

Flora slowly withdrew her hand, her expression becoming unreadable.

"Maya?" she called.

But Maya wasn’t looking at her mother anymore.

Her eyes were fixed on Simon.
