The girl left after giving Vera the letter. She walked to a corner and whispered, "It’s done."

At 8:30 PM, Vera went to Red Maple Woods.

Red Maple Woods was a place on school grounds. There were actually no red maples there, but rather a bamboo forest. It was far from the main school buildings, so at night, the area was usually deserted.

But when Vera arrived today, seven or eight girls were already standing there. As soon as she approached, they surrounded her.

Vera glanced around and saw that all the girls had their faces covered with bandanas. It was impossible to see clearly in the dark, and she couldn’t be sure if she recognized anyone in the group.

Before she could even speak, she heard someone shout, "Get her!" Then, several of the girls raised their wooden clubs and charged at Vera.

The girls all assumed that with their numbers, and all of them armed, they could definitely give Vera a good thrashing. However, the situation quickly unfolded in a way they hadn’t anticipated.

Just then, Vera pulled a steel pipe—slightly thicker than her thumb—from behind her back. Before the girls could even get close, she suddenly lashed out, delivering a vicious beating to those nearest to her.

Several girls immediately cried out in pain, completely stunned. They had never imagined that Vera would come prepared!

Getting hit by a steel pipe was far more painful than being struck with a wooden club. On top of that, Vera had studied martial arts and understood human pressure points. As she fought, she deliberately targeted these points on their bodies.

The girls were no match for her. In just the first exchange, half of them were already on the ground, wailing and unable to get back on their feet.

The remaining few, realizing things had gone wrong, turned to flee. Vera wasn’t about to give them that chance. She spun around, sending one girl flying with a side kick, then felled another with a swing of her steel pipe. The last one, the quickest to react, was already thirty meters away, and Vera couldn’t be bothered to give chase.

With a cheerful grin, she reached down and yanked the bandana off one girl’s face. "My, my, you’re all quite capable, aren’t you? Learning how to ambush people in masks. Let’s have a look at who you are!"

The bandana came off. The girl’s eyes were filled with terror, but her face was unfamiliar.

Vera smiled faintly and proceeded to rip the bandanas off the other girls’ faces. She didn’t recognize a single one.

She folded her arms and said, "I have no quarrel with any of you. Don’t you think ambushing me like this is a little uncalled for?"

One of the less-injured girls tried to crawl up and slip away. With a backhanded swing of her steel pipe, Vera struck the girl’s leg. She let out a piercing scream and collapsed, her leg possibly broken.

"Thinking of leaving? Be careful, or I’ll break your legs!" Vera said with a grin. "I’m usually a reasonable person. But if someone isn’t reasonable with me, I become even more unreasonable than they are."

Though her smile was gentle, in the eyes of the other girls, she was utterly terrifying.

They were filled with immense regret. ’If we’d known Vera was this terrifying, we never would have come!’

One girl whimpered, "We were wrong today. We’ll never do it again, we promise!"

"You’re still thinking about a ’next time’?" Vera scoffed. "Do I look that easy to bully?"
