Chapter 227: Chapter 227: The Lethality of Short Videos

Lately, Elias had indeed been fast asleep, but he remained more or less aware of the outside world. Allowing Liang He to carry him onto the private jet in her backpack was actually a deliberate move on his part. If possible, he would probably seize this opportunity to leave and never return to the Sky Shining Star Protection Zone.

"This little guy is quite intimidating."

Caught off guard by Elias’s sudden glare, President Lucas rubbed his chest, his heart fluttering with lingering fear. The reason was simple: he sensed danger.

"Little Black is very well-behaved. There’s no need to be afraid, President." Seeing that Elias was awake, Liang He gently stroked his head with her fingertips, deliberately avoiding his newly grown horns.

"He doesn’t look like a snake. Are those horns growing on his head?" Given his vast experience, President Lucas was now certain that Elias was unlike any animal he had ever known. Was this an entirely new species, or a unique mutation?

"Yes, Little Black most likely has the bloodline of the Dragon Clan."

Liang He had been observing and pondering this ever since she first noticed the bumps on Elias’s head. It wasn’t until their sharp tips finally broke through the skin that her vague suspicions began to take shape.

"On Blue Star, there is a mysterious race known as dragons. They are revered as deities by the people..."

Liang He recounted all the legends of the Dragon Clan she knew to President Lucas, leaving him completely astounded. If she hadn’t been yawning continuously, clearly exhausted from a lack of rest, President Lucas probably would have kept her talking until nightfall.

"Did Liang He stay up all night?"

As Liang He fell asleep in seconds, the Mojin King Tiger and the Canglan Hunting Eagle immediately took up positions beside her, acting as the most loyal of guards. Seeing this, President Lucas could only whisper his question to Huo An.

"Yes. She intentionally stayed up late just to make canned food for them."

President Lucas knew about the cans because he had bumped into them earlier while they were being loaded onto the plane. However, he had assumed they were pre-made batches that Liang He had simply pulled from storage.

"Liang He never uses any preservatives or additives in her canned food, so they generally only have a shelf life of three to seven days. Once they’re almost eaten up, she makes a fresh batch."

Huo An had to admit that, apart from her unique abilities, Liang He was inherently an outstanding and highly responsible Breeder. She always prioritized the health of her furry charges, doing her utmost to take impeccable care of their daily needs.

"As expected of the successor I have my eye on."

Hearing Huo An’s explanation, President Lucas felt incredibly smug about his excellent judge of character. He definitely needed to figure out a way to get Liang He to take over his position.

"President Lucas, it would be best if you gave up on those unrealistic ideas," Huo An offered a friendly warning.

Setting aside whether Huo An, as Liang He’s direct superior, would even agree to let her go, there was a bigger issue. From the Federation’s standpoint, they would never permit Liang He to take a post at the Animal Protection Association and abandon these Evolutionary Beastmen. To put it bluntly, saving countless ordinary animals couldn’t compare to ensuring a single SSS-level Beastman safely survived their Evolutionary Stage.

"Alright, alright. I was just thinking that Cedriel and Lanton seem to be nearing the end of their Evolutionary Stages, so..."

But even if Liang He saw those two off, she would likely welcome new Evolutionary Beastmen soon after. Three years would blend into another three years, or even five-year cycles; she truly wouldn’t have the time to manage anything else.

Suddenly name-dropped by President Lucas, Cedriel and the Canglan Hunting Eagle instantly stiffened. They subconsciously exchanged a glance before silently shutting their eyes, pretending to be asleep. Guilty as they were, they completely failed to notice the probing look Huo An shot their way.

"Well then, President, I still have some work matters to attend to. Why don’t you get some rest?"

As the director of the protection zone, Huo An couldn’t just wash his hands of his duties even while on a business trip. If he did, Chief Stationmaster Uncle Liao would definitely throw a fit.

"Sure, go do your thing. I’ll be fine on my own."

Logically speaking, President Lucas should have been quite busy himself. However, he had recently started cultivating his assistant’s capabilities, delegating a portion of the workload to him. After all, the assistant was guaranteed to be the future vice president.

Since he was getting on in years, napping during the day would only lead to insomnia at night, so President Lucas opted against taking a midday snooze. Finding himself with nothing to do and still dwelling on the Blue Star mythological tales Liang He had just told him, he pulled out his Light Brain and began searching the interstellar web, reading with great relish.

When Liang He finally woke up from a fulfilling sleep, she caught sight of President Lucas curled up in his seat, holding up his Light Brain and snickering to himself.

"President, what are you looking at? What’s got you smiling like that?"

"Ah! Liang He, you’re awake!"

Seeing that she was up, President Lucas glanced at the time and realized it was already five in the afternoon. He had actually been playing on his Light Brain all afternoon! He instantly felt embarrassed, feeling as though he was neglecting his proper duties in front of the younger generation.

"Well... I just downloaded a video app from your Blue Star, and as a result, I kept scrolling through videos. The time just slipped away."

Hearing his description, Liang He had a pretty good idea of what he had been watching. Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, she truly hadn’t expected President Lucas to turn into an internet-addicted old man in the span of a single afternoon. The addictive magic of Blue Star’s short videos was something even interstellar people couldn’t resist.

"Are you hungry? I’ll go heat up some food."

"Sounds great! Let me help you out." At the mention of food, President Lucas immediately perked up again.

"No need, these are meals I prepared in advance. They just need to be heated."

Because she hadn’t known what facilities the private jet would have, Liang He had specifically brought self-heating packs. But now that she confirmed there was a small kitchen, tossing the food in a pan to stir-fry it would naturally make it taste much better. Liang He heated up the meals as quickly as possible. She didn’t even leave out the three pilots in the cockpit, ensuring everyone got to enjoy a piping-hot meal.

"Liang He, your cooking skills are really fantastic!" President Lucas didn’t hold back his praise. The other crew members on the private jet, unexpectedly blessed with such a treat, happily echoed his sentiments.

"Miss Liang He is so kind. She even thought of us while traveling."

"Yeah, I thought we’d only be drinking nutrient solutions. I never expected this... What a pleasant surprise!"

"I really hope we’ll still be the ones providing the flight service when you all return."

The crew members on the private jet were experienced and had naturally served big shots from all walks of life. Logically speaking, they shouldn’t have been won over by such small favors. But Liang He’s personal charm was simply too strong. She was genuine and sincerely respected everyone, treating them all as equals. This made the crew feel incredibly touched and warmed.

"You’re making me blush. I’m just happy you guys don’t mind that these are pre-made meals."

To be blunt, it wasn’t much different from eating leftovers. Liang He actually felt she had slighted them.

"How could we? This is already incredibly good!"

President Lucas probably understood these staff members best. When he previously traveled to various planets to rescue animals, he had lived entirely on nutrient solutions, never even daring to dream of having a hot meal.

"Liang He, you should really promote Blue Star more. I feel like my quality of life has skyrocketed."
