Chapter 1371 Meeting The Enemy.

They had lived many lifetimes and experienced much, making Rank 5 cultivators more knowledgeable. But for weaker mortals, a pathway was just a normal part of life, and it had been true for as long as they could remember.

However, when Dao Lords began to appear here and there, mortals became restless. Some grew anxious and afraid, while others grew excited and ambitious.

For the former, the existence of Dao Lords meant the existence of an apex predator they couldn’t compete with, making them fear for their lives. But for the latter, the existence of Dao Lords represented the existence of apex predators that they could become.

Whether it was fear for their lives or excitement at the prospect of gaining the power to stand above the world for thousands of years, those emotions intensified when Loki’s avatar entered the super worlds to recruit mortals into the Olympic Sect, which he claimed had a superior cultivation system.

Loki introduced the Dao Fetus cultivation system to the world, and it spread like a virus through the populace. They rushed to join not because they believed him. They joined simply because of who he was and what he represented. But this still made Time Traveler anxious.

After all, Loki had no cultivation system to offer mortals in any of the timelines he remembered. Now that Loki was doing something different, it proved to him that Loki was growing and adapting, even as he reversed time.

Despite how anxious the three Cosmic brothers and their alliance of Dao Lords were, they didn’t seem to be making a move. As a result, the Sea of Worlds remained peaceful.

Of course, Loki wasn’t fooled by this peace. He remained vigilant like a thief in the night.

His vigilance reached a new peak when he saw the sky open above Thief Heaven again and again, with colorful eyes appearing in the torn rifts. Then he grew suspicious when he saw many Dao Lords sending down projections of their Supreme Metacs to establish Domains on Thief Haven.

He wasn’t surprised when Thief’s Haven accepted all of the Supreme Metacs. He also wasn’t surprised when he didn’t see Black Chain and his Supreme Metacs among them.

’It is already weird that they are all establishing Domains on one world. But they can explain it away by saying they have formed an alliance and were strengthening each other.’

"But it would just be sloppy workmanship if Black Chain also joined in establishing Domains. I would be disappointed in the three brothers if they made such a rookie mistake,’ he thought, grinning.

Just a day after the timeline restarted, one and a half days after Loki ascended, Wandering Thief reached out to Loki again. He said, "I have good news. The alliance has been officially formed."

"That’s indeed good news," Loki said, smiling.

"Are we going to swear an oath to seal our partnership now?" he asked, eager.

"Unfortunately, no," Wandering Thief said, shaking his head.

"I also wanted us to swear oaths to make the alliance more secure. But I couldn’t get anyone to swear any oath, so I scrapped the idea."

Of course, that was a lie. Their coalition had sworn oaths to deal with the Gemini race together. But he didn’t want to swear an oath with Loki because he was sure he would be asked not to harm him.

If he swore the oath, he couldn’t attack Loki. The alternative was to use the Freedom Supreme Metac to break the oath, but it would expose to his allies that he couldn’t be trusted. So he made up a lie to avoid that pickle.

"That’s a shame," Loki said with utmost sincerity.

He truly felt pained for losing a chance to expose Wandering Thief as the fraud he was.

’I guess I can expose him myself,’ he thought, grinning wickedly.

Then he asked nonchalantly, "So what now?"

"When do we strike at Black Chain? I hope it is as soon as possible because I want to kick his face in as much as possible."

"Do you know that he hunted and tried to kill me when I ascended? So I have a lot of motivation to get rid of him," he finished while grinding his teeth in anger.

’If I were Black Chain, I would also try to kill you for decimating his sect and destroying his Domain like that,’ Wandering Thief said, snorting in displeasure.

But on the surface, he smiled and said, "We will attack him soon. But first we have to strengthen ourselves."

"We decided to strengthen ourselves by expanding our Domains. I have opened up Thief’s Haven to everyone to strengthen us before the fight."

"So I have come to invite you to establish a Domain on Thief’s Haven," Wandering Thief finished his explanation.

"Is that so?" Loki asked, disbelief in his voice. "That’s incredibly generous of you."

"You’re completely unlike me in this aspect. I went out of my way to make super worlds refuse more Supreme Metacs, while you opened a super world for the greater good. Clearly, you’re the better person."

"I am just doing my part in getting rid of the great evil that is Black Chain, Wandering Thief said modestly.

"Why did you make those super worlds ban more Domains anyway? I’m just curious. If you don’t want to say, you don’t have to."

He already knew why Loki did it, but he asked anyway because it would be suspicious if he didn’t bring it up when he claimed the alliance members needed to strengthen themselves, and Loki was clearly standing in the way of that goal.

Loki, for his part in this dance, replied, "I did it to monopolize those worlds. That was when I thought I had to do my best to fight for survival."

"If I had known that we could successfully form an alliance where the spirit of cooperation was so great that we could share worlds to strengthen ourselves, I wouldn’t have done it. I really regret it."
