THE GOD EATER

As these eight pairs of eyes peered through the rifts, everything they looked at froze. Only one thing was still moving in their field of vision, and that was the sword light.

They saw the sword light streaking through the void in a certain direction. Aside from this, they couldn’t tell anything else.

So one of them said, "Sword Mastro, who are you attacking now?"

The one who was asked said in reply, "I don’t know. Let me check."

After checking, Sword Mastero said, "This sword is not mine."

These words immediately enraged someone who said, "What kind of nonsense is that? What do you mean, the sword is not yours? It is clearly your attack."

Sword Mastero was confused as he said, "I don’t know what to tell you. But I didn’t make that attack. I have nothing to do with it. Maybe you should ask Heavenly Eye. She is very good at copying attacks. Maybe she is trying to frame me for something."

Of course, no one believed him. The sword clearly had the law fragments of the Sword Pathway. He was currently the only one using the Sword Pathway, so he had to be the one who made the sword light.

The only weird thing about the sword light was that it also had a lot of the law fragments of the Time Pathway. This was extremely odd because the Time Pathway was supposed to have disappeared.

Anyway, no one tried to stop the sword. They all wanted to see what it was up to.

Fortunately, they didn’t have to wait long. In the blink of an eye, the sword had passed through the third dimension and struck its target.

The target was Loki, but Money Armor was also nearby. So part of the sword struck Money Armor. The spill over from the sword strike shattered Money Armor’s body and fractured his Cave Heaven, too.

Since Money Armor’s Cave Heaven belonged to the Thorn House of Commerce, the power of the sword affected all of them. This was something Money Body didn’t see coming.

Within the Cave Heaven of the Thorn House of Commerce, Armor Body was panicking and had just said to Money Body, "He is too strong. He has shattered my body completely."

"With his strength, no rank 7 cultivator can match him. I’m afraid that my reinforcement will only fall into his hands. Only a rank 8 cultivator can hope to defeat him."

Then his Life Fire went out in a flash, and a concussive blast of an explosion struck their Cave Heaven. Then their Cave Heaven began to crack.

Monarch Money Body and the others in the Cave Heaven were divine beings, so they could still think. In fact, everything was still moving on in their Cave Heaven, not frozen like the rest of the world. Because of this, they were immediately aware when their Cave Heaven began to break.

And because they could still think, they could also react to what was going on. Unfortunately for them, the power of the force that struck their Cave Heaven wasn’t something they could resist.

In his shock, Money Body’s eyes widened, and he said, "What the hell is going on?"

That was all he could manage to do before their Cave Heaven broke apart into chunks of stone and fell into the void. As for their Life Fires, they also went out without a Cave Heaven to hold them.

So even though the sword didn’t strike any of them full on, everyone in the Thorn House of Commerce still died. What’s worse is that they won’t know how they died.

With this kind of collateral damage, what the sword could do to Loki would be worse. Already, Loki’s body had shattered, and his Cave Heaven was disappearing.

But just as the sword was about to reach its destination, it stopped. It stopped in place while humming in frustration. Then the entire world began to fade away.

Neither the sword light nor the Dao Lords noticed the world around them fade into nothingness. Then there was nothing but darkness.

On the other side, Loki had returned to the past. This time, the sword light couldn’t follow him because the entrance to the River of Time had closed.

He had entered the River of Time and left it as soon as possible. So he returned to the moment when he was about to start fighting Money Armor.

He had just arrived at the largest of the five small worlds that he knew belonged to the Thorn House of Commerce when he suddenly fused with his future self and received memories of his future.

What he did immediately after he got his bearings was to look around and make sure that there was no sword light looking for him.

When he didn’t see anything, he sighed in relief and said, "So it worked."

Inwardly, he thought to himself, ’It was as I thought. Without me opening the River of Time for it, it shouldn’t be able to follow me into the River of Time.’

’It was just piggybacking my opening an entrance to the River of Time to enter the River of Time. But if a mere attack could do that, could the Dao Lord who made the attack be capable of doing so too?’

This question made him remember the eyes in the sky looking down at him like a human looking down at an ant. The memory made him shiver and think, ’Too strong. They are too strong.’

’So what I have been dealing with all along was a phantom of their power. This time, those were their true bodies, and they could see my thoughts with their eyes.’

He was still shaken by the experience. His body shivered occasionally, and he twitched in fear as if something was chasing him. He always twitched whenever he remembered that sword.

Anytime he remembered that sword light, the experience of having something locked onto him would wash over him again. This made it seem as if there was something behind him chasing. So he would always turn back to make sure.
