Chapter 784: Showing Sincerity.
Many Eyes was just grasping at straws and didn’t really think Loki was serious when Loki made the claim. In fact, he was further certain that Loki would not spare him now that he had tried to kill Loki.
So he was surprised when Loki said, "Of course, i will let you go. I said I would let you go as long as you give me all your worlds and I meant it."
His words made Many Eyes pause and begin contemplating his options. When Shadow Body noticed that he had stopped producing small eyes, he shouted at Many Eyes, saying, "What nonsense are you thinking about in the middle of battle? Or do you really think he will spare you? He is only lying to you to weaken us."
This made Loki sneer and say, "I am clearly stronger than the two of you. It is only a matter of time for me to kill you both. So why would I lie?"
As he spoke, he smashed the deceiver in the throat. This caused the man’s throat to cave in. But this didn’t stop Shadow Body from speaking.
Shadow Body shouted, saying, "Of course, you’re only saying this because you don’t want him to deplete your reserve of lifespan. No matter how strong you are, we can still wear you down if we work together."
In response, Loki chuckled and said, "You make a good point. Unfortunately, I don’t need to lie. I have a lot of lifespan to use."
Then he turned to Many Eyes and said, "If you’ve followed me this far and noticed where I’ve been, you should know that I am flushed with world essence. So tell him if I’m lying or not."
Many Eyes knew that Loki wasn’t lying. After all, it had been his worlds that Loki stole the world essence from.
But he didn’t speak out to support Loki’s claim. Instead, he asked, saying, "How can I be sure that you will let me go?"
In response, Loki rolled his eyes and said, "Fine. Let’s sign a contract with any sect as the witness."
Many Eyes relaxed when he heard this. Then he took out his neck token and used it to purchase a contract with his divine merit points.
As soon as the contract was purchased, he manifested it in front of him as a piece of white parchment. Next, he wrote out the terms and conditions of their deal. After he did this, he sent the contract to Loki.
Loki was in the middle of tearing apart the deceiver when the contract came over. He had both of his hands on the deceiver and was pulling out chunks of flesh from his body.
In his desperation, the deceiver tried to destroy the contract. He swung his blade arm at the white parchment to cut it. But Loki grabbed his arm and tore it out of his sockets.
This caused the deceiver to howl in pain as he said, "You bastard."
But Loki ignored his curses and grabbed the contract to read it. While going through the contract, he found something that he didn’t agree with.
What he found made him frown and say, "I said I will let you go. And when I say you, I mean only you. The other seers don’t count. If you want to save them, you will have to give me more than all of the worlds you own."
As he spoke, he tossed the contract back to Many Eyes. Then he used his free hand to smack Shadow Body in the face.
The back of his hand peeled away the layer of skin from Shadow Body’s face when his hand struck him. This layer of skin was black. But beneath it was another layer of black flesh.
There were no blood vessels, muscles, ligaments, or bones in a divine being’s body. Their body is made of uniform flesh made of energy and sustained by power. So it was not surprising that the wound on Shadow Body’s face didn’t bleed red blood. But it was still odd that his body was black all through.
In fact, Shadow Body’s flesh felt like charcoal to Loki. His flesh was as hard as charcoal and shattered into bits like charcoal. Because of this, the injury that the slap inflicted on Shadow Body was more than the wound on his face. There were also faint cracks that were spreading out from the point of impact.
Perhaps the worst part of that injury was that it refused to heal. Whenever Shadow Body tried to heal the injury, a dim green light would always glow in the wound and resist the healing.
But if he didn’t heal the injury, the green light would seep into his charcoal flesh, expanding the injury along the way. If he didn’t curb this expansion of his injuries, the green light would eventually spread through his entire body, at which point his entire body would collapse.
So even if he couldn’t heal the injury, he had to continue spending his lifespan to try to heal it just so that the injury wouldn’t be able to spread. This will ensure that a single injury doesn’t kill him, but the tradeoff is that his attempt to curb the enlargement of the injury would drain him of his lifespan until he runs out of lifespan and finally dies.
And this was just one injury. Loki was constantly hitting and injuring him. Plus, the injuries were weakening him, so the rate at which he was being injured was increasing rapidly.
Each injury had damaged his body, reducing the amount of power he could transmit from his Cave Heaven. This wouldn’t be much of a problem if he could heal the injuries. But now that the best he could do was prevent the injuries from getting worse, every little injury has become a serious problem that will permanently reduce his strength.
As if all of these weren’t bad enough, there was also all the pain.
