Chapter 792: Investigating Money Body.
His thoughts surged in his mind with deadly seriousness as he said to himself, ’What’s uncertain is whether they are two Dao Lords or only one. Another thing that is yet to be certain is what they want from me.’
While Money Body was agonizing over the matter of being hunted by a Dao Lord, Loki was busy killing people and getting stronger. The death of Money Armor had helped him in this aspect.
He hadn’t been able to breach Money Armor’s golden shield before the man suddenly crumbled in his hands and scattered into the wind.
So he didn’t actually consume any of the man’s lifespan before the man died. This surprised him a lot, but he just shrugged and put the matter out of his mind.
He got over Money Armor’s death very quickly because he had more important things to do. The most important one was the information about the Thorn House of Commerce that he was investigating.
After Money Armor died, he continued to investigate the Thorn House of Commerce. He didn’t give up just because one of the parties involved was dead. There were other people in the Thorn House of Commerce that he knew, so he used them to continue the investigation.
He had thought that Money Armor was killed preemptively so that his investigation could be cut off. So he was very surprised when every member of the Thorn House of Commerce refused to block his investigation.
This made him say in surprise, "What is going on? They are basically giving me the information on a platter. Since when did the Thorn House of Commerce become so reasonable?"
Even Money Body had chosen not to block his inquiry, even though this was something he could do, even if Loki didn’t investigate the information through him. Just the fact that the information was related to Money Body meant that he could have decided not to let Loki see it.
The cost of blocking the inquiry would also be reasonable since Money Body is of the same rank as him. Yet, Money Body gave up without a fight. So he got to see what it was that they were willing to give up five small worlds to protect.
He saw Money Body and two other people. The two people were his subordinates. They were rank 7 money cultivators, which made them two-thirds of the rank 7 cultivators in the pathway.
The three money cultivators entered the second dimension of the Blessed Heaven World. After they appeared in the black and white world of death, they flew along the twists and turns of the river of death.
Along the way, they saw many skeletons moving through the river or just floating around in it. They also saw many of these black skeletons fail to float and sink to the bottom of the black river.
During this process of watching them fly, he was still beating Star Divination. Fortunately, she didn’t have a lot of lifespan to spare, so it wouldn’t take him a lot of effort to kill her.
She used her Environmental Illusion Divine Metac to change their surroundings and confuse him. But this was like a drowning man grabbing at straws to stay afloat. It was a desperate move that was unlikely to work, but she had to use it because she didn’t have any other choice.
Even Shadow Body had failed to deceive him, and she was there when Shadow Body had failed, so she surely knew that there was no way her illusion would make Loki lose sight of her and let her escape. But she did it anyway for the slim chance of success.
If by chance, her illusion bypassed Loki’s defense or Loki ran out of lifespan trying to defend her illusion, she would be able to escape. In fact, if Loki got trapped in her illusion, she might be able to turn the tables against him.
Unfortunately for her, she wasn’t that lucky. Whatever amount of luck she had was crushed by the overwhelming difference in their strength.
Because of the vast disparity in their strength, she couldn’t put up any meaningful resistance. Her illusion didn’t even blur Loki’s vision. He was able to see her, and he was always able to strike her.
She also didn’t have a tool like the Money Armor Metac to protect her, using something other than her strength for power. So after a round of intense beatings, he killed her. She had been so weak that he managed to kill her in less than a minute.
Any divine being would say that killing another divine being should be difficult and take more time than traveling around the Blessed Heaven World. But in this case, it was taking longer for the trio to reach their destination.
Divine beings are very fast. Especially someone like Money Body who could cover over 250,000 kilometers per hour without trying.
On the other hand, the Blessed Heaven World is at most 300,000 kilometers across from north to south. So Money Body should be able to traverse the entirety of the Blessed Heaven World in a little over one hour. But this was not the case.
Instead of moving in one straight line, the three money cultivators menandered. They turned several times. And they even circled back to the same spot occasionally.
Their behavior was as if they were lost. But Loki didn’t think this was possible, so he believed that there might be something going on that they could see that he couldn’t see.
He was also willing to entertain the possibility that they were moving through a maze that he couldn’t see. But after a while of seeing the same thing happen again and again, Loki began to suspect foul play with their behavior.
It took over a day of watching them before he realized what was going on. When he understood what Money Body was doing, he slapped his thighs and said, "That bastard. He is doing this to cover his tracks."
