Chapter 138: Chapter 138: The School’s Reward

"I recognize this guy. He’s a wanted criminal!"

Just then, one of the parents shone a flashlight right in the scar-faced man’s face and cried out in shock.

"Get the hell away from me, or I’ll kill you all."

The scar-faced man’s expression changed, and he threatened them, brandishing the dagger in his hand.

Perhaps it was a burst of desperation, but with a sudden surge of strength, he actually managed to snap the rope he had already cut more than halfway through.

After getting down, his first instinct was to rush toward Jiang Fan and Er Pang’s father.

The scar-faced man was well aware of his current situation. If he didn’t have a hostage, none of the three brothers would be able to escape.

The rest of their lives would be spent either executed or in prison.

There was a large group of people over there; he didn’t dare go that way.

Over here, there were only two men and a child—undoubtedly the best targets.

"Heh."

Jiang Fan let out a soft chuckle.

"The fuck are you laughing at?!"

The scar-faced man roared viciously and lunged, stabbing at Jiang Fan with the dagger.

"Jiang, get back!!"

"Daddy!!!"

The faces of the parents over there turned pale, but there was nothing they could do to stop it.

But Jiang Fan looked completely relaxed. With a backhand slap, he sent the scar-faced man sprawling to the ground.

Then, Jiang Fan stepped forward, stomped on his hand, and bent down to take the dagger.

"Is that all you’ve got??"

Jiang Fan had held back with that slap. If not for all the witnesses, it wouldn’t have been impossible to kill him with a single blow.

Back at the orphanage, many of the children had been abducted by human traffickers, who then maimed, muted, or deafened them before forcing them onto the streets to beg.

In the end, when they had no more value, they were either casually discarded or simply killed.

That was why Jiang Fan despised these human traffickers with a passion!

Only then did the group of parents hurry over. Seeing the scar-faced man with a mouth full of blood and a face swollen like a pig’s head, they all swallowed hard.

They looked at Jiang Fan with a hint of disbelief, but mostly with admiration.

"Jiang, I never would’ve thought—not only is your wife gorgeous, but you’re such a good fighter too?"

"Jiang, let’s call the police. Let them come and take these guys away."

"Does this count as us performing a meritorious service? This guy’s a wanted criminal, so the other two with him can’t be small-time crooks, either."

The group of parents surrounded Jiang Fan, chattering with immense enthusiasm.

Just then, Er Pang slowly began to wake up, looking around at his surroundings in a daze.

"How come you guys are here?"

"When are we gonna eat?"

Hearing his son’s voice, full of energy, Er Pang’s father’s eyes immediately filled with tears.

Jiang Fan gave an imperceptible nod. He had just pressed a few of Er Pang’s acupoints to help his body metabolize the knockout drug.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have woken up so quickly.

"Jiang, words can’t express my gratitude. From now on, if you ever need anything from me, you just have to ask."

Er Pang’s father stood up and spoke with the utmost solemnity, looking as if he was about to kneel before Jiang Fan.

"You’re too kind, you’re too kind. There’s no need for that."

"It was the right thing to do."

Before Jiang Fan could finish speaking, the two male teachers from the school walked over.

"Mengmeng’s dad, thank you so much for this."

Their faces were filled with gratitude.

If Er Pang had really been lost this time, they couldn’t dare to imagine how the once happy and perfect family would have been torn to pieces.

It wasn’t just Er Pang’s family; the two of them would have been inescapably responsible as well.

"It’s alright, it’s alright. Since the child has been found, let’s all head back first. No need to make the others keep worrying."

"A few of us will tie these three up and bring them over."

"The police should be here in a little while."

"Alright."

After Jiang Fan spoke, the group immediately agreed and tied the three men up securely.

The two kindergarten teachers were especially enthusiastic in their efforts.

As the many women waited at the campsite, Jiang Fan returned, leading a large, triumphant procession. He carried Mengmeng and walked at the very front, like a general returning from a victorious battle.

Yin Ruxue let out a long sigh of relief, the weight on her heart finally lifted.

"Mommy, we’re back! We caught three people!!"

Mengmeng danced with joy.

"Three people?"

Only then did Yin Ruxue notice the three thieves wedged in the middle of the crowd.

"This is..."

A look of confusion appeared in her eyes.

"They’re the ones who kidnapped Er Pang when he went to the bathroom."

"Their goal was to extort some money."

On the way back, the male teachers and parents had, with a tacit understanding, given them a round of "Major Memory Recovery."

That was how they learned the trio’s motive.

While Jiang Fan was explaining things to Yin Ruxue, the police arrived. After taking the three men away, they thanked Jiang Fan’s family profusely and gave a special commendation to Mengmeng by name.

After an incident like this, the camping trip obviously couldn’t continue. However, it was too late now, and going down the mountain would be a hassle.

After a quick discussion, everyone decided to move their tents together into a circle.

They would make do for one night and leave first thing in the morning.

After finally coaxing Mengmeng to sleep, Jiang Fan and Yin Ruxue lay facing each other on their sides.

"You’re quite the organizer."

After a long silence, Yin Ruxue was the first to speak.

"Organizer? Not really."

"When this happened today, all the other parents were panicking. You were the only one who was calm, directing everyone and calming them down."

"You might not have even noticed it yourself, but that requires extremely strong organizational skills and mental fortitude."

Yin Ruxue said this with such conviction that it made Jiang Fan a little embarrassed.

"Well, I didn’t really think about it that much. It was just too chaotic at the time."

"Any delay, and if something had really happened to the kid... no one wants to see that."

"Speaking of which, the school will probably give Mengmeng some kind of reward tomorrow, right?"

"The police department will probably give her one too."

Jiang Fan quickly changed the subject.
