Chapter 305: Chapter 305: Someone Has Your Back

Mengmeng wiped her runny nose and said, "Daddy’s not crying, so I’m not crying either!"

Jun Yue carefully began treating Mengmeng’s scrape, quickly disinfecting and bandaging the wound.

"Thank you, Auntie!"

Once her wound was bandaged, Mengmeng’s smiling face quickly returned.

Seeing Mengmeng’s scrape all bandaged up, Jiang Fan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Alright, go on and play. Just don’t run anymore. You can play cat’s cradle or fold paper airplanes with the other kids. At most, you can play with marbles!"

"Okay!"

Mengmeng agreed and ran back toward the group of children.

Jun Yue couldn’t help but laugh. "Everyone says little princesses are precious, but look at you raising your daughter. You don’t even let her cry when she falls, and as soon as she’s bandaged up, you send her right back to play."

Jiang Fan gave a wry smile. "Isn’t that what we did when we were kids? When we fell, we’d just dust ourselves off and keep playing."

"How can you compare yourself to a little girl?"

Jiang Fan chuckled.

Amid their lighthearted banter, noon soon arrived.

At the matron’s call, the children got ready for lunch.

After spending the morning together, Mengmeng had completely hit it off with the other children. Led by Li Qian’Er, the kids all washed their hands properly and sat in a neat row.

The matron and a few other women began serving the children in turn. Every child received the same balanced meal of meat and vegetables.

Jiang Fan and Jun Yue helped Li Qian’Er.

After lunch, the children began their afternoon nap, which was also when Li Qian’Er got to rest.

Once all the children were asleep, the three of them went to sit in the pavilion next to the courtyard.

"Qian’Er, you’ve worked hard during this time," Jiang Fan said with a wry smile. "It must be exhausting looking after the children like this every day."

Li Qian’Er waved her hand. "Not at all, Jiang. During the week, other teachers help out, and Junyue comes on the weekends. I’m really just playing with the kids."

"Junyue, you come every week?" Jiang Fan asked, surprised.

Jun Yue nodded. "I got used to it after coming back to Yang City. Basically, if I’m free on the weekend, I’ll come back to the orphanage and stay the night. It’s a nice way to unwind from my busy schedule."

Hearing this, Jiang Fan nodded.

"By the way, how’s the school coming along? I haven’t had a chance to come and see these past few days," Jiang Fan asked Li Qian’Er.

Li Qian’Er pointed into the distance and said, "As for the school, Junyue found people to help, and with Ying and the others here, it’s basically running smoothly with no problems. The government is also taking it very seriously. They even allocated funds. See over there? They’re planning to build a new academic building and dormitory."

Jiang Fan glanced in the direction Li Qian’Er was pointing. He hadn’t even noticed before that there was construction going on over there.

"Recently, some smaller orphanages have been seeking help from our Grand Orphanage. Plus, with the funding from you and Junyue, as well as government support, we’re getting more and more students. The school definitely needs to expand."

Jiang Fan nodded and looked at Jun Yue.

To be honest, he felt his own contribution was just a drop in the ocean. He never expected there would be so many complicated follow-up matters. It was all thanks to Jun Yue that so many of the orphanage’s problems had been solved.

"Junyue, thank you. If it weren’t for your help, I’m afraid my good intentions would have backfired and just caused everyone a lot of trouble."

Jun Yue smiled and said, "Don’t say that. The biggest credit for getting the orphanage’s school started goes to you. If you hadn’t taken the lead, I would have had the will but not the means. I’m just so gratified to see the school slowly getting on the right track."

Jiang Fan smiled and shook his head.

Just then, Jun Yue’s tone shifted. "Are you sure you won’t consider giving Yuefan Group a try? I’d really love for you to work with me. Coming to Yuefan wouldn’t be like working for someone else!"

Jiang Fan let out a wry laugh.

"Junyue, thank you for the kind offer. The truth is, I’m not cut out for corporate life. If I ever get to the point where I can’t survive, I promise you’ll be the first person I run to!"

"Alright. Like I said before, I won’t force you."

"So, what are your plans now?"

"I don’t have any solid plans at the moment. I’m thinking of starting a business with a couple of friends."

"If you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask."

"Okay!"

Just then, Jiang Fan’s phone suddenly rang.

Jiang Fan pulled out his phone and glanced at the screen. It was an unknown number.

After a moment’s hesitation, he answered.

"Hello, is this Mr. Jiang Fan?" a deep voice asked from the other end.

Jiang Fan frowned. Before he could say anything, the person on the other end got straight to the point. "This is Chen Xuan!"

"Chen Xuan?"

Jiang Fan was stunned for a moment. He racked his brain for the name and finally remembered. Chen Xuan was that guy from the Yin Family’s banquet who wanted to marry Yin Ruxue.

’But why would Chen Xuan be calling me now?’

"What do you want?" Jiang Fan asked.

"Mr. Jiang, I think we should talk. The Yin Family and my Chen Family are both considered Noble Families. Xue’Er and I are a match made in heaven—"

"Hold on!" Jiang Fan quickly cut Chen Xuan off.

"Chen Xuan, did you fucking call me just to say this? Have you forgotten you promised your grandfather you’d stop harassing Yin Ruxue? What ’match made in heaven’ bullshit? Are you even worthy, kid?"

Jiang Fan cursed bluntly.

"Jiang Fan, don’t be so hasty. I admit I lost to you before, but one stone-gambling match doesn’t determine the feelings between me and Xue’Er. Besides, times have changed, haven’t they? I know all about you and Yin Ruxue, so you don’t have to put on an act in front of me. I’m with Young Master Su right now. If even Young Master Su is qualified to pursue Xue’Er, why aren’t I?"

"Young Master Su? Su Qingchu?"

"That’s right!"

Jiang Fan’s brows furrowed. No wonder Chen Xuan had suddenly come looking for trouble again. It turned out Su Qingchu was pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

"Jiang Fan, I know you and Yin Ruxue are just putting on an act. Now you’ve gone and provoked the Liu Family. If you don’t want Yin Ruxue to suffer because of you, then come and find me!"

The voice on the other end was Su Qingchu’s.

"Su Qingchu, who the hell I provoke is none of your business!"

"Whether you live or die is none of my damn business, of course. But why should Yin Ruxue have to clean up the mess you made? If you’re a man, come face us. Why are you hiding?"

"What do you mean?" Hearing Su Qingchu’s words, Jiang Fan’s heart trembled slightly. "What do you mean, ’Yin Ruxue is cleaning up my mess’?"

"Guomao Restaurant, private room number nine. We’ll wait for you for half an hour at most. Don’t be late!"

As soon as Su Qingchu finished speaking, the line went dead.

Jiang Fan’s expression darkened.

He had no intention of dealing with those two at all, but the mention of Yin Ruxue’s name struck a chord.

From what Su Qingchu said, it seemed Liujiang River was still causing trouble for Yin Ruxue, but she had never mentioned it to him.
