The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 66: I Can Die for You!
Chapter 66: Chapter 66: I Can Die for You!
"I..."
Rong Anyao looked as if she wanted to both laugh and cry; the expression on her face was a fascinating sight.
"Alright, alright. You should go now."
"I’m really fine here. If I wanted to get out, these things couldn’t hold me."
To put her at ease, Jiang Fan shifted slightly, and both his hands slipped right out of the handcuffs.
"Huh?"
The sight made Rong Anyao’s brain short-circuit.
"See? I wasn’t lying. If I can get out, I’m not going to be stupid enough to just sit here and go to jail."
"Then... okay."
Grabbing her bag, Rong Anyao hurriedly left the interrogation room. Jiang Fan, on the other hand, slid his hands back into the handcuffs.
’Can’t go around provoking them. That’s definitely not a smart move.’
He glanced around and sighed. He didn’t regret fighting one bit. His only regret was that he hadn’t been more vicious.
The police officers weren’t paying him any more attention. No one even came to bring him water.
But Jiang Fan didn’t care. He leaned back, closed his eyes to rest, and somehow managed to drift off to sleep.
He was probably the only person who could fall asleep in a place like this. You had to admit, he was incredibly unflappable.
An unknown amount of time passed before Jiang Fan heard a faint noise. He had just opened his eyes when he saw Rong Anyao tiptoeing in and stealthily turning off the light.
"I can’t believe you can actually sleep in here."
Rong Anyao whispered, crouching beside Jiang Fan.
"There’s nothing I can do right now. It’s either up to you, up to Niu, or up to the people outside to investigate and clear things up."
"I can’t do anything, so what else am I supposed to do besides sleep?"
Jiang Fan shifted his position on the chair and tilted his head to look at her. "Why are you back? Where’s Niu?"
"And how did you even get in here?"
"Keep your voice down! The officers on duty outside are asleep. I slipped in quietly."
"Don’t wake them up."
Rong Anyao grew anxious and reached out to cover Jiang Fan’s mouth.
She only let go when she saw him nodding emphatically.
"Are you sure you weren’t trying to suffocate me?"
"It’s your fault for talking so loud!"
Rong Anyao blushed, but though she knew she was in the wrong, she still acted defiant.
"Niu told me to head back first. He said he’d find someone to help figure things out. He also went to get the surveillance footage from the front of the shop."
"They were the ones who started it, provoking us and throwing insults. He said we should be fine."
"I was worried about you, so I came here first."
"So you only got lucky they were asleep. What if they hadn’t been? You wouldn’t have been able to get in, would you?"
"And now you don’t even dare to speak loudly or stand up, just crouching in a corner like this?"
Jiang Fan really couldn’t understand her train of thought.
"I just want to be here with you. If it weren’t for you, I would have died a long time ago. You saved my life."
At that moment, Rong Anyao seemed exceptionally stubborn.
Jiang Fan didn’t try to persuade her any further.
To avoid being seen if someone pushed the door open, Rong Anyao shifted her position, crouching with her back against the back of Jiang Fan’s chair.
"If you’re tired, try to get some sleep."
Jiang Fan said nothing more.
The atmosphere in the interrogation room slowly fell silent.
The silence lasted until dawn broke, when the door to the interrogation room was pushed open.
Niu burst in, his big, bald head leading the way.
"Fan, are you alright?"
Seeing Niu’s concerned face, Jiang Fan shook his head.
A police officer followed behind him.
"Officer, hurry and unlock these."
"Hey, what’s this young lady doing here? When did you get in?"
"Huh? You didn’t go back?"
Niu and the officer exchanged a look, both of them completely dumbfounded.
They had both spotted Rong Anyao, who was asleep, leaning against the back of Jiang Fan’s chair.
"I..."
Rong Anyao, startled awake by the voices, jumped when she saw the two men and stammered, unable to speak.
"Alright, never mind her for now," Jiang Fan cut in, saving her. "What’s going on? Can I leave now?"
"Of course!"
"Those bastards were the ones who started it. We were just defending ourselves."
"The surveillance video shows it crystal clear."
"Besides, I got this badly injured. They’re lucky I’m not making them pay for it."
Niu casually pointed to his back.
"You can go after you sign some papers outside. In the future, if you run into something like this, remember to call the police right away."
"Don’t try to be a hero."
After giving this advice, the officer unlocked Jiang Fan’s handcuffs.
"And as for you, young lady. This is an interrogation room, not just any other place. It’s not for you to just come and go as you please."
The older officer’s expression was stern as he delivered the warning.
"I understand. It won’t happen again, Officer."
Rong Anyao nodded hastily, a wide smile spreading across her face.
As long as Jiang Fan was okay, she was happy.
Outside, Jiang Fan signed a document and finally got his phone and other belongings back.
He turned on his phone to see it had been absolutely blown up with calls, and the number of messages was off the charts.
The vast majority were from Yin Ruxue.
She kept asking where he was, what had happened, and why he would do such a thing.
Between the lines, he could sense Yin Ruxue’s fury.
"You two head back first. I have something to take care of at the company."
"I won’t see you off."
Rong Anyao and Niu each hailed a cab and left the police station. Now that Jiang Fan was fine, the matter was considered resolved. As for the gangsters, they would be locked up or sentenced as the law saw fit.
It didn’t have much to do with them anymore.
Jiang Fan drove straight to the company. The moment he walked in, Sun Yanzi hurried over to meet him.
"What took you so long? The Chairman wants to see you in her office. What did you do to make her so angry?"
"I’ve never seen the Chairman this furious."
Jiang Fan shook his head, indicating that he didn’t know.
He went straight upstairs to Yin Ruxue’s office.
The moment she saw Jiang Fan, a flicker of relief showed deep in Yin Ruxue’s eyes, but it was immediately followed by an even greater rage.
Without a word, she walked up to Jiang Fan and gave him a sharp backhand slap across the face.
"How could you do something like this? Do you have any idea how much this could hurt Mengmeng? Do you know how much she likes you?"
"If word of this gets out, how heartbroken will she be?"
"That her father is a common hoodlum who gets into brawls??"
"Don’t you forget the terms of our contract!!"
