Chapter 67: Chapter 67: A Man Cannot Be Arrogant, but Must Have a Backbone

Jiang Fan’s expression shifted, his eyes instantly turning cold.

"So that’s what this is about? Where did you hear about it?"

In her fury, Yin Ruxue didn’t notice the coldness in Jiang Fan’s tone at all.

"It’s all over the internet!"

"Our contract is over. Get the hell out of here right now."

"I don’t want to see you ever again. I’ll have the finance department pay you every cent you’re owed."

Jiang Fan didn’t say a word. He took the Maybach key from his pocket, tossed it onto the table, and turned to leave.

That slap and those words had thrown his dignity to the ground, grinding it mercilessly underfoot.

He had always been a man with strong self-respect, a firm believer in one principle.

A man can’t be arrogant, but he must have a backbone. No matter what, you have to stand up straight.

Yin Ruxue had been the one to beg him to take this job in the first place, but now it was as if he was the one begging her, using her.

Back in the office, he quickly gathered his things. Mu Fan turned and left without a hint of hesitation.

Not that he had much to begin with.

"Jiang Fan, wait!"

Just as Jiang Fan walked out, Sun Yanzi came chasing after him.

"Where are you going during work hours? And what happened to your face?"

"Sun? It’s nothing. I quit."

"I’m leaving now."

Jiang Fan grinned, waved, and strode away.

"He... he quit?"

’I need to go find out what happened!’

Sun Yanzi stared at Jiang Fan’s back, hesitated for a moment, then rushed back into the office to find Li Muwan.

"Don’t you know how to knock? You scared me."

Li Muwan nearly jumped out of her skin when Sun Yanzi burst in.

"Jiang Fan quit?"

"It seems like something happened between him and the Chairwoman in her office."

"Do you know any of the inside details?"

"What? Jiang Fan quit?!"

Li Muwan was even more shocked than Sun Yanzi.

She knew that Jiang Fan and Yin Ruxue had a relationship, and it wasn’t an ordinary one.

’Did something happen that I don’t know about?’

"Where is he now?"

Li Muwan asked hurriedly.

"He’s already left the company. He didn’t drive."

"He probably hasn’t gotten far, right?"

"You can go back to your work for now. I’ve got it."

"I’ll message you if anything comes up."

"Okay, but don’t lie to me. It’s a real shame for him to just leave like that. It’s not every day we get an interesting and handsome young guy in the company."

"Shoo, shoo. Don’t be thirsty in my office."

Li Muwan waved her hand dismissively.

She picked up her phone from the desk, pulled up Jiang Fan’s number, and hesitated several times before dialing.

’I really owe you one!’

’Let’s just call it a thank you.’

As if she had convinced herself, Li Muwan took a deep breath and pressed the call button.

"Sorry, the number you have dialed is switched off."

She tried three times in a row, but his phone was off each time.

’His phone is off? Seriously.’

’He’s so stingy and poor. I hope he doesn’t starve to death out there.’

Having found her excuse, Li Muwan grabbed her coat, hurried out of her office, and chased after him out the company entrance.

She didn’t even understand why she was doing this. Her feelings for Jiang Fan were incredibly complex.

She chased him all the way to the road outside the company building and looked left, just in time to see his retreating figure about to disappear.

Without a moment’s hesitation, she hurried after him.

"Jiang Fan, you stop right there!"

Though they were far apart, with Jiang Fan’s current hearing, he still heard her.

He turned his head in confusion and saw Li Muwan stumbling toward him.

’What is this crazy woman doing here?’

’She’s not here to dock my pay, is she? But I haven’t even gotten my salary!’

Countless possibilities flashed through Jiang Fan’s mind.

In the brief moment he was lost in thought, Li Muwan had already reached him.

"What are you running for?"

"Quitting just like that? Who gave you the right? Do you know this is a breach of contract?"

Hearing the resentful, blaming tone in Li Muwan’s voice, Jiang Fan’s mood calmed slightly as he ruthlessly extinguished the spark of hope that had just ignited within him.

"Your chairwoman fired me."

"Just tell me what you want. If it’s nothing, I need to go look for a job."

Jiang Fan didn’t want to waste any more time talking to her.

What he needed to do now was find a place to live, then go to Yin Ruxue’s to get all his things back.

No matter how old or broken, they were still his.

"Do you have any money?"

Li Muwan’s question hit the nail on the head, making Jiang Fan freeze.

He really only had a few dozen yuan on him. He’d had 200 in cash last night, but he’d spent it at Niu’s food stall.

"That’s none of your business."

"If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving."

Jiang Fan didn’t give her a pleasant look and turned to go.

But Li Muwan grabbed him. "This is your bonus, and your commission from yesterday."

"I’ve already resigned. This money shouldn’t have anything to do with me, right?"

Jiang Fan didn’t want to accept handouts from anyone.

"Come with me first. There are too many people here."

The people around them were pointing and staring.

Li Muwan couldn’t stand the stares.

She pulled Jiang Fan to the side. "You just need to tell me what’s going on with that store and how it’s able to achieve such high sales."

"This money will be yours. Consider it a personal favor for me, not through the company’s books."

"How about it? Is it a good deal?"

The stack of cash in Li Muwan’s hand looked to be over 3,000 yuan.

"It’s a very good deal. I’m the one who investigated it in the first place."

"You’re lucky I’m not asking for severance pay for firing me."

Jiang Fan didn’t hold back, taking the money and stuffing it into his pocket.

Then he said, "Actually, the main reason is that the two salesclerks are just unbearable to look at."

"Plus, they have no figure to speak of. As salespeople for a brand-name store, if you don’t even have your own assets to work with, how can you show customers what we’re selling?"

"Of course, the more important reason is that those two are just slacking off and phoning it in. They’ll sit if they can avoid standing, and they’ll stand still if they can avoid walking around."

"Let alone proactively trying to attract business or anything like that."

The more Jiang Fan spoke, the stranger the expression on Li Muwan’s face became. "Are you sure it’s that simple?"
