Chapter 82: Chapter 82: No Matter What, I Won’t Like You

"You’ve never been like this before?"

Jiang Fan tactfully changed the subject.

"No. I don’t have any friends."

Li Muwan’s voice carried a hint of loneliness.

"No friends?"

"That’s right. Besides Xue’Er, I don’t have any other friends. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have even joined Xuerong when we were putting it together."

"No way."

Most people have at least a few friends.

’Having no friends at all...’

’Either she’s from an incredibly wealthy and powerful family and doesn’t dare to form genuine connections...’

’...or she’s dirt poor, and no one wants to befriend her.’

But Li Muwan’s aura didn’t resemble someone from a dirt-poor family at all.

On the contrary, her every move had the air of a well-bred young lady.

"What are you looking at me for?"

"I’m telling you, I will never, ever like you."

"I don’t like breaking up other people’s relationships."

Li Muwan forced her eyes to clear up and said with a completely serious expression.

"Get outta here. You’re drunk as a skunk and still spouting this bullshit."

"As if I’d ever be interested in you."

Jiang Fan looked at her with disgust.

"BOOM!!"

A flash of light streaked across the dark sky, and the roar of thunder echoed through the heavens and the earth.

"See? That’s what you get for lying! You got struck by lightning!"

"Hahaha!"

Li Muwan laughed with wild abandon, paying no mind to her heaving chest.

"Pah! I don’t believe in that superstition. Let it strike me!"

"BOOM!"

Lightning flashed across the night sky.

Jiang Fan flinched. "Holy shit! You really get struck by lightning for saying things you don’t mean?"

"With my looks, the line of guys chasing me would stretch from Xuerong all the way to the Beautiful Country!"

"So stop dreaming!"

"SPLASH..."

A torrential downpour began without any warning.

The two of them were instantly soaked to the bone.

Summer weather was just that fickle, coming and going as it pleased.

"That’s what you get for bragging! Now you’ve got your just deserts!"

Though drenched by the rain, Jiang Fan also laughed heartily.

"Go, go, go! Let’s get back in the car, quick!"

Jiang Fan grabbed Li Muwan and ran.

Sitting in the car, they looked at each other and burst out laughing at the same time.

"Keep laughing. You’re going to catch a cold."

"We’ve been drinking, so neither of us can drive."

"What are you waiting for? Turn on the AC! Turn on the heat!"

Jiang Fan rolled his eyes.

Catching a cold and getting a fever in this weather would be absolute torture.

"Um... the car is out of gas."

After fiddling with the dashboard for a moment, Li Muwan turned her head and said pitifully.

"Huh??"

"Out of gas?"

Jiang Fan was so exasperated he laughed.

"And I think the battery’s dead too..."

Li Muwan mumbled quietly.

"Fuck..."

Staring at the rain pouring down even harder outside, Jiang Fan fell into deep thought.

After thinking for a moment, he took off his shirt.

"What are you doing? Are you being a perv?"

"Good grief, we’re both going to get sick if we stay in these wet clothes."

’I feel like I’ve rolled my eyes more today than in the past month combined.’

’How can someone be this dense?’

"Then... then what should I do?"

Li Muwan hugged her shoulders and shivered.

She felt like her teeth were chattering.

"You need to take yours off too."

"We’re a man and a woman all alone... aren’t you afraid I’ll do something to you?"

"Shouldn’t I be the one saying that??"

"You’re the woman here, hello!"

Jiang Fan scratched his head. He was truly starting to regret coming out with her.

"I... I can manage. I’m not taking it off. I’m not cold."

Li Muwan stubbornly shook her head.

"Hold on a sec."

Jiang Fan suddenly leaned over the back seat and pulled a T-shirt out of the trunk.

"I saw this the other day when I was driving. Uh, why don’t you change into this?"

Jiang Fan rubbed his nose, a little embarrassed.

Because this T-shirt was extremely sheer.

You could see almost everything underneath.

But at least it was dry.

"But..."

"No buts, just change! Hurry!"

Jiang Fan moved straight into the front passenger seat.

Then he flipped down the rearview mirror.

Li Muwan clung to the last shred of sobriety in her mind.

She took off her soaked clothes.

A violent shiver ran through her.

She quickly pulled on the T-shirt.

But the moment she put it on, she regretted it.

’What’s the difference between this and wearing nothing?’

But now, the drunkenness in her head and the cold seeping into her body were corroding her last vestiges of willpower.

All she could do was hug her shoulders and shiver, her teeth chattering nonstop.

Jiang Fan sighed and moved over from the front seat.

He tossed all the wet clothes onto the floor and used tissues to wipe down the seats.

"Wh-what are you doing?"

Li Muwan’s eyes were full of alarm, but she couldn’t muster an ounce of strength.

"Get over here!"

Jiang Fan grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms.

"SMACK!"

Mustering a sudden burst of strength from nowhere, Li Muwan slapped Jiang Fan hard across the face.

"I’m warning you..."

"What is wrong with you?"

"I’m finding you to be a really strange person. Either you’re so drunk you’re out of your mind and act like a completely different person..."

"...or you’re in this half-drunk state, acting stubborn and causing trouble."

"I just want to warm you up. At this temperature, with what little you’re wearing, you’ll be frozen solid by morning."

Only then did Li Muwan realize that Jiang Fan was as warm as a furnace.

His scent, his warmth—she found it incredibly captivating and couldn’t bear to leave it.

"I’m... sor..."

Unable to form a complete sentence, she could only reach out and stroke the cheek he’d just had slapped.

Jiang Fan’s fiery body heat seemed to seep into her, giving her a surge of energy as well.

She suddenly threw her arms around Jiang Fan’s neck, looked up, and kissed him.

Taken by surprise, Jiang Fan’s eyes went wide.

"Mmph? Why are you carrying an iron rod?"

After who knows how long, Li Muwan released him and asked, her eyes hazy as she gazed at him.
