Chapter 389: Chapter 157: The Revenue That Made the Senior Brothers Cry

But the restaurant’s business hours were strict. It wasn’t that he was tired of making a fortune; his employees needed to rest, too.

From 4 PM to 10 PM, six hours of non-stop, high-intensity work—it was enough to wear anyone out.

This was where one had to admire Ling Shuyu’s foresight.

For the task of washing dishes and plates on the third floor, she had purchased a massive, high-speed sterilizer cabinet and outsourced the labor to a cleaning service. Otherwise, if they had relied solely on the few employees at Delicious, they would have certainly run out of clean plates.

That evening, Su Chen gathered everyone on the nineteenth floor.

It was the only place with a large enough round table in the cafeteria. Even so, with the eight new senior chefs, it was still a tight squeeze.

But that only made it feel livelier.

"Thanks for all your hard work, everyone."

He stood up, holding a glass. "I won’t give a long-winded speech. The first day’s success on the third floor couldn’t have happened without every single one of you here!"

All the employees raised their glasses. After everyone downed their drinks, Su Chen continued, "I’m not one for beating around the bush. Liu Shengnan, give us the numbers!"

Su Chen didn’t know the exact revenue, but he was sure of one thing: it was going to be an absolutely insane number.

Why was he so sure?

Because sometime after 9 PM, the system had already notified him that the main quest was complete.

What did that mean?

It meant that in just over five hours, the combined revenue from the third and nineteenth floors of Delicious had already surpassed 250,000!

He had no way of knowing how much more they had earned since then.

"Ahem, ahem!"

Liu Shengnan stood up and adjusted her glasses, holding a tablet (an office supply she had requested).

"This afternoon, from four to ten o’clock—a total of six hours—the revenue for Delicious’s Home-Style Cooking was..."

As everyone looked on expectantly, Liu Shengnan deliberately built the suspense, drawing out her last word.

"Damn it! Just say it already!" Bai Xiaobo exclaimed, making a move to snatch the tablet.

With a nimble dodge, Liu Shengnan darted behind Su Chen. "Boss, you should be the one to announce it!"

Su Chen shook his head with a smile. He took the tablet and glanced at it, and his smile instantly froze!

"What is it, Boss? Were the results a bit underwhelming?"

"I knew this would happen. The ingredients for the home-style dishes are too high-quality. Even with high revenue, the profit margins must be slim."

"Exactly... We could use cheaper substitutes for some things. For example, the clear broth could be made with MSG and chicken powder instead."

"And those tomatoes! Why did we have to buy the premium ones? I think regular tomatoes would be perfectly fine for the stir-fries!"

Seeing Su Chen’s smile freeze, the group of senior chefs assumed the revenue was less than ideal.

So they began to offer their strategies. After all, they were all restaurant veterans and knew a thing or two about how to increase profits.

Su Chen waved his hand dismissively. "Don’t bring this up again. The unique flavor of our home-style dishes is inseparable from the quality of the ingredients we choose. If we were to carelessly swap them for inferior substitutes, regular customers might not taste the difference, but a connoisseur would notice immediately."

After saying this, he picked up his glass and took a sip of iced Coca-Cola.

"Today’s revenue for Delicious’s Home-Style Cooking is... thirty-five thousand!"

Everyone at the table was stunned for a moment. The original Delicious employees didn’t react much, but the eight senior chefs jumped to their feet with shocked gasps.

"That much?"

"HISS! A daily revenue of thirty-five thousand? Boss Su, are you some kind of monster?"

"Holy shit! Holy shit! Why the hell am I still working as a manager for some legacy brand! Boss Su, are you hiring another manager?"

The original Delicious employees just looked at each other, scratching their heads.

They didn’t have much of a frame of reference for that amount of money. To them, Boss Su could casually make thirty or forty thousand from a single custom meal on the nineteenth floor.

’After all that manpower and all those resources, with everyone working themselves to the bone for hours, we only made 35,000?’

’How much profit could possibly be left after factoring in costs, utilities, and labor?’

Seeing their bewildered expressions, Wang Peixing stood up. "You don’t think that’s a lot?"

Zhang Li said innocently, "Of course it’s not a lot! Last time, our boss made five pastries and sold them for forty thousand!"

The driver, Zhang Jiayi, blushed and lowered her head. ’Shorty, oh Shorty, the way you said that makes me sound like a total sucker...’

Wang Peixing shook his head. "You don’t understand. First of all, we were only open for six hours today. A normal restaurant would never have such short hours. If we could stay open longer, the revenue would be even higher."

"Second! A daily revenue of thirty-five thousand is something only a handful of restaurants in the entire country can achieve. Without exception, any restaurant that hits this sales figure has insanely good business, with customers constantly lining up to order!"

"And one more thing..." Wang Peixing exhaled. "Thirty-five thousand a day means over a million a month! I know the profit margins in the food service industry better than anyone. In this business, the better your sales, the lower your relative costs become! Even if Boss Su’s ingredient costs are a little high, the net profit margin should still be around 40%!"

Shorty did a quick calculation on her fingers.

’A monthly net profit of over four hundred thousand?’

’That seems pretty good, but it’s still no match for Boss Su’s nineteenth floor.’

Having grown accustomed to Su Chen earning thirty or forty thousand from a single meal, the original Delicious employees truly had no frame of reference for this number. They even found the senior chefs’ over-the-top reactions somewhat laughable.

"Alright, alright, thirty-five thousand is definitely a great start," Liu Shengnan said, addressing the room.
