The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse
Chapter 1780: Return of the Asura Race (7)
"Be ready, everyone. They are coming,"
Miriam shouted, and everyone looked up at the dark clouds, their expressions calm even though they all knew a great battle was about to descend on them.
Of course, it isn’t their first rodeo, so they were all prepared for what the heavens were about to throw at them.
On the side, surrounded by five Pseudo-Primordial Insect warriors and five Pseudo-Primordial puppet warriors, are Queenie and the three Asura Keys: Kalynda, Aster and Hermina.
They are the main guards Asha and Nadia had selected to protect Queenie and the three Asura Keys, who would, in less than an hour, become the Three Fates of Asura.
Since the Asura are supposed to be dead, their fate now lies in their hands, and as such, even if the heavens open and their fury descends, they cannot die.
Even if one of them were to fall today, the Asura race, which includes Queenie and Asura himself, would cease to exist.
So their safety is of the highest priority.
But they aren’t the only ones protecting the four of them.
Hidden in the shadows, Nia, the Shadowless Assassins, and the Danger Twins, Luna and Nunu, remain vigilant, making sure nothing sneaks up on them.
Lastly, Lulu, who specialises in soul battles, also remained on the side.
Then, one person who wasn’t assigned a role but had created one for himself was Uncle Mark, known for his strong defense and offense using his shields.
Hunter had also chosen to stand much closer to Queenie, making sure that he and his thousands of sword puppets would fight to the death before they allowed anyone to get closer to his daughter-in-law.
His gaze was directed at the clouds that had now grown thick and would descend at any moment.
Suddenly, his right index finger moved, and one of his Supreme Grade sword puppets zipped through the air, meeting a deadly arrow.
BANG
The two crashed into each other, and cracks appeared in the sword. The arrow, however, was shattered into dozens of pieces. Each piece of the shattered arrow transformed into another arrow, and they continued along the trajectory of the first arrow.
Luckily, Uncle Mark reacted in time.
His shield expanded and blocked all the arrows.
But that was a mistake, a huge mistake.
Just when Uncle Mark moved, another arrow came from his original position, this one holding so much power that the first flew past him and closed in on Hermina, the third Asura Key in an instant.
Uncle Mark and Hunter tried to block it, but they were too late and too caught off guard to do anything.
However, the arrow didn’t reach its target.
Just before it could reach Hermina, another arrow came from the side and slammed into it, breaking the first arrow in half.
Nari narrowed her eyes due east and smirked, "Only cowards hide in the shadows to kill their targets. If you are a real man, show your face and let’s see if you can keep your life for even a second."
Nari smiled and said, "No offense, Nia."
Nia said nothing in response, but she would make sure the Phoenix Calamity paid for calling her, who is literally made of shadows, a coward.
For now, they had a big fish to fry, and that fish soon revealed himself, causing Hunter and a few of the Beast Legion who were familiar with the ancient families to gasp.
"A warrior from an ancient family," Hunter muttered, a shocked expression appearing on his face as he gazed at the handsome Elf who had revealed himself after Nari’s rather sharp words pierced through his heart.
He was clad in dark gray armor. However, while his armor was high-tech and seemed to almost fuse with his flesh, it was the emblem on his chest that made Hunter and everyone gasp.
It was the emblem of the Tarin Ancient Family. Their influence in the universe was extensive, reaching deep places that nobody dared question.
"Oh, so you know who I am," the Elf said with a disdainful chuckle.
"I do," Hunter replied.
"If you do, then why are you still standing? Get on your knees and bow to me." The man tapped his left foot on the ground, and the clouds in the air churned, sending down a pressure that crashed down on Hunter.
Hunter stabbed the sword into the ground and used it to support himself from falling to his knees. He would not go down on his knee for this bastard.
"Weakling. Look at how you are struggling to even withstand 10% of my power, and you think you have what it takes to stand in the way of Heavenly business."
The Elf took one step, and he was 4 meters away from Nari, who was frozen in place. "I have revealed myself, young miss. Why don’t you kill me?"
The Elf chuckled and extended his hand, summoning an arrow. "At such close range, not even a Primordial can save you."
He raised the arrow and brought it close to his bow.
However, before he could put it in the bowstring and shoot, a cold air blew past him, and then he saw his body frozen in place, his line of sight rising for a few moments before it dropped again.
As his field of view descended, he saw the arrow he had summoned slowly disintegrate, and then the bow in his hand slipped from his grip.
Just before his head struck the ground, he saw a lady clad in red armor, sharp red wing blades circling her body. In her hand, she held a thin red sword, her eyes holding sharp killing intent.
The last thing he heard before his head struck the ground was, "Know when to shut up, long ear."
Lily’s cold words seeped into his soul, and they would accompany him to the underworld. The air pressure vanished, and everyone affected by it regained their strength.
Lily’s words reached everyone:
"Harness the power of your Dao and laws, for this is not going to be a fair fight."
Just then, the sky split in six different places, and the banners belonging to six ancient families appeared through them, followed by hundreds of thousands of warriors.
