Chapter 209: 209: The End.
"Beep! Beep!"
A loud horn blared beside Lin Xuan making him instinctively jumped away from the road.
He turned toward the vehicle that had just passed him, his eyes widening slightly as it sped away.
"What...?"
Lin Xuan looked around in confusion.
Tall buildings surrounded him, vehicles moved along the roads, and unfamiliar sounds filled the air from every direction.
People walked past him while staring at their phones, barely paying attention to anything around them.
He lowered his gaze and looked at himself.
His appearance had not changed, he was still wearing the same clothes he had on before falling asleep.
"Where is this place?"
Before he could think any further, two younger kids happened to walk past him.
One of them stopped and looked him up and down.
"Is that for a cosplay?"
The other kid looked at him with obvious excitement.
"That’s so cool! You look like one of those immortals from a manhwa!"
Lin Xuan awkwardly nodded toward the two children.
"Yes."
The two kids continued on their way, still glancing back at him with curious expressions.
Lin Xuan stood there for a moment before slowly beginning to walk.
He looked at the familiar streets, the buildings, and the countless people moving around him.
Then his expression gradually changed.
"This place... How could this be?"
A strange feeling rose within his chest.
Without thinking any further, Lin Xuan suddenly began running.
He ran through the streets without caring about where he was going.
Minutes passed.
Then hours seemed to pass.
Sweat soaked through his clothes, and his breathing became increasingly heavy. His legs gradually grew tired, and every step became more difficult yet Lin Xuan continued running.
He kept moving forward as though something deep within him was pulling him toward a destination he had not seen in years.
Eventually, a worn-down apartment building appeared before him.
Lin Xuan slowed to a stop and stood there, breathing heavily as sweat dripped from his face.
His eyes remained fixed on the old building.
"This..."
His voice became softer.
"I can’t believe I’d ever miss this place."
Lin Xuan stood there quietly for a while, allowing the familiar sight to sink into his mind.
Taking a deep breath, Lin Xuan walked forward and entered the apartment building.
As soon as he stepped inside, he noticed a beautiful young woman sitting nearby and eating instant ramen.
She looked up at him with confusion, still slurping on the noodles.
"Who are you, mister?"
Lin Xuan looked at her for a moment before asking, "Are you the new tenant of this apartment?"
The young woman nodded slightly.
Lin Xuan hesitated before asking the question that mattered most.
"Do you know what year this is?"
She stared at him.
Lin Xuan immediately recognized that expression.
It was the exact expression of someone looking at a madman.
He quickly raised his hands.
"I’m not a madman. Could you please tell me what year this is? I’ll leave right after."
The woman’s expression changed again.
Lin Xuan sighed.
He could practically see what was going through her mind just from her expression alone.
A creep.
Deciding that this conversation was going nowhere, Lin Xuan turned around and left the apartment building.
He headed back toward the road while rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
"A newspaper should have the date and year printed on it."
With that thought in mind, Lin Xuan began looking around for somewhere that might have one.
Lin Xuan continued walking through the streets, still trying to make sense of the strange world around him.
Before he could find a newspaper, a loud announcement suddenly rang through the city.
"Attention, residents. A dungeon has been detected in District X. All residents in the surrounding area are advised to remain calm and immediately proceed to the nearest designated shelter."
Lin Xuan stopped in his tracks.
"Dungeon?"
He looked around, utterly confused.
"What is going on?"
With a single leap, Lin Xuan shot into the air and landed effortlessly on the roof of a nearby building.
He looked down at the street below before glancing at his own hands.
"This..."
A strange realization slowly surfaced in his mind.
"Did my cultivation from the other world transfer here?"
He frowned.
"But that doesn’t make sense. Even if I ran for several days without stopping, I wouldn’t become exhausted but earlier I clearly got fatigue. So what exactly is happening?"
He barely had time to think before the air below him suddenly distorted.
A massive tear appeared in space.
The surrounding air twisted violently as a huge, dark gate slowly took shape in the middle of the street.
Lin Xuan’s curiosity immediately overcame his caution.
He leaped from the building and landed directly in front of the strange gate.
He stared at it in silence.
"Just what exactly happened to this world?"
Before he could find an answer, something suddenly stepped out from the gate.
A small, green-skinned creature emerged from the darkness.
"A goblin?"
Lin Xuan stared at the creature, confused by its strange appearance.
Then something even more bizarre happened.
The goblin’s face suddenly began to change.
Its rough green features twisted and shifted before gradually transforming into a familiar face.
Lin Xuan’s eyes widened.
"Zhaoyue?"
Before he could even process what he was seeing, another goblin emerged from the gate.
Its face immediately began morphing into Lin Zhaoyue’s face as well.
Within moments, hordes of goblins with Lin Zhaoyue’s face began pouring out of the gate.
Lin Xuan stood completely frozen.
His expression gradually turned horrified as the endless stream of goblin Zhaoyues flooded into the street.
Before he could figure out a reason as to why, everything suddenly went dark.
Lin Xuan’s eyes then snapped open and he jolted upright in bed, his breathing slightly hurried as his eyes immediately swept across the unfamiliar room.
The ceiling above him was not the one he had expected to see.
His instincts immediately took over and he released his divine sense without hesitation, spreading it throughout the surrounding area.
Within moments, the familiar structure of Violet Log City appeared within his perception.
He recognized the City Lord’s Mansion beneath him and quickly confirmed that he was still staying there.
Only then did his tense expression relax.
Lin Xuan slowly exhaled and got out of bed.
He walked toward the nearby window and pushed it open, allowing the cool night air to enter the room.
Outside, Violet Log City was unusually quiet.
Lin Xuan rested one hand against the window frame and stared toward the night sky.
The bright moon hung above the city, illuminating the distant rooftops with a pale glow.
