The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride
Chapter 126: The Meeting
Two pictures were placed on the table in front of Dante.
One was Amie Trevor.
The other was June Trevor.
Dante was supposed to be looking at Amie’s picture.
After all, she was the reason he had asked his men to gather more information. She was Serena Vassari’s daughter, the woman his grandfather wanted him to bring home.
Yet, for some reason, his gaze kept moving towards the other picture.
June.
Dante picked up her picture and stared at it for a few seconds.
There was nothing particularly special about the picture. She wasn’t even looking at the camera. From the information his men had gathered, she was pregnant and somehow involved with Rauf Salvador.
None of that should have mattered to him.
Yet he couldn’t put the picture down.
His right-hand man, who had been standing quietly in front of the desk, finally noticed.
"That’s not Serena Vassari’s daughter."
Dante lifted his gaze.
"I know."
"The other one is Amie Trevor."
Dante’s eyes returned to June’s picture.
"I know that too."
His right-hand man narrowed his gaze at him but said nothing else.
Dante sighed, finally putting the picture down and concentrating on Amie’s.
"So, what other information do you have about her?"
Satisfied, his right-hand man started.
"Miss Amie has finally been given a position at Vassari headquarters. She also has a new car, and it seems she has been integrated into the company’s security system."
Raising his brow slightly, Dante sighed.
"It seems this other lady..." His gaze moved to June’s picture again. "She really has nothing to do with Serena."
His right-hand man nodded. "Yes, Don. Throughout the party, she was with Rauf Salvador."
"Rauf Salvador," Dante repeated.
For some reason, the name left a bitter taste in his mouth.
"I want to know everything about this Salvador."
His right-hand man nodded. "Okay, sir."
"Also, I want to know what Amie is up to once she closes from work."
Dante picked up both pictures from the table, placed June’s picture above Amie’s, then closed the file.
If he wanted their plan to work perfectly, he needed to woo Amie without letting her know he was an enemy.
Amie’s mood was sour when she returned to the office.
Chris hadn’t even bothered introducing her to the executives. How was she supposed to know which executive to walk up to?
The plan she thought was simple was now looking so difficult all of a sudden.
Karen and Lamie watched her from the corners of their eyes but didn’t dare go close to her. She looked like she could strike them with her gaze.
Ten minutes later, Karen got up from her chair and moved closer to her.
"Miss Vassari, is something wrong?"
Lamie, who had experienced the whole situation with Amie, didn’t dare go near her.
Slowly, Amie lifted her gaze towards Karen.
"What’s wrong? Everything is wrong." She tugged at her hair slightly. "I mean, where do the executives in this place go?"
"The executives?" Karen asked eagerly.
"Yeah, the executives. I haven’t been seeing them. Do they even work, or have they been embezzling my mother’s money?"
Karen smiled instead.
"Miss Vassari, that’s because most of the executives are busy during the day, and in the evening, most of the staff go out for fun. You can’t see them when they’re busy. You only meet them in the fun places."
"Fun?"
Amie turned her full attention to Karen.
No one had told her about that. She had thought all they did here was work and work.
For the past week that she had been coming to the office, she went straight home immediately after work.
But now Karen had her full attention.
"Where does this fun take place?"
Karen moved closer to Amie as if she was about to whisper a secret to her.
"There’s a bar not far from the company. Most of the staff frequent the bar because it’s close to the office."
Amie could already imagine herself at the bar.
That was the sort of setting she worked with perfectly.
"I’m interested in this bar."
Hopefully, she would be able to capture the attention of an executive.
After all, she was Serena’s daughter.
Before the office closed, Amie had already gone back home to change into something more appropriate.
She told Karen to send the address of the bar to her.
Amie arrived at the bar fashionably late.
The bar was closer to the office than she had thought, and she wondered why she had never noticed it before.
But now, it didn’t matter.
What mattered was the fact that she was here.
And her plan was moving forward.
She walked into the bar, her gaze moving around.
It was a busy bar, with most of the tables already occupied.
And that was when she discovered she had a bigger problem.
She had no idea what the executives looked like or how she was supposed to attract them.
She had simply thought they would flock to her because of who she was.
But now that she was here, no one was paying attention to her.
"Miss Vassari!"
A familiar voice called, and Amie saw Karen hurrying towards her.
"I can’t believe you actually came," she said, standing right next to Amie. "Ma, Lamie is also here, and there’s space at our table."
Before Amie could protest, Karen led her to a secluded table in a darker part of the bar.
It was well hidden from the others, but they could easily see everyone else.
As soon as Amie sat down, Karen started.
She pointed towards a bald man whose moustache seemed to be his saving grace from looking like a potato.
"That’s Mr. Arnold. He’s an executive at the company. He handles all the financial details."
Finances.
It was a pity that Mr. Arnold wasn’t good-looking.
And she was still married to Rauf.
Soon, Karen pointed out at least three more executives.
Amie nodded.
With different options to pick from, things were looking better than she had expected.
Just as she was about to stand up, she noticed some movement near the entrance.
Amie turned towards the door.
A handsome man dressed in a crisp black suit walked in, his expression cold enough to freeze an ocean.
Immediately, Amie lost interest in the other executives.
"Now, this is what I am talking about."
