The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride
Chapter 127: If you need anything
"Who is that?" she whispered to Karen.
Karen squinted her eyes, trying to get a better look at the man who had just walked in, but no matter how long she stared at him, she couldn’t identify him.
Instead of responding to Amie’s question, she turned to Lamie.
"Do you know who that is?"
Lamie mirrored her expression. "No, never. Haven’t seen him before."
Amie paused.
Both Karen and Lamie had no idea who he was.
Then it meant something. He was of a higher rank than they could imagine, and that made him more interesting.
At that moment, Amie decided that if she was going to get closer to any executive to find out what the mission her father had given her was, it was this man who was now strolling towards the bar.
Amie adjusted her clothes.
It was time for her to make a move.
There was no point wasting time.
She moved, sashaying and calling attention, while both Karen and Lamie watched her leave.
Immediately she got in front of the man, she paused.
Her gaze moved slowly over his body, appreciating him.
There was only one man who had made Amie believe that men could also be beautiful, and that was Rauf.
This man’s beauty couldn’t compare to Rauf’s, but he was certainly exquisite enough to make Amie salivate.
She moved closer to him. "Do you care if I join you?"
The man’s gaze moved over her slowly.
From the moment he had stepped into the bar, he had noticed her looking at him, but he had decided not to make a move.
He was waiting exactly for this moment.
"Of course, you can."
Amie turned towards the barman. "I’ll have what he’s having."
The man raised one of his brows slightly.
"Interesting," he muttered.
After collecting the drink from the barman, Amie settled in front of him.
"My name is Amie Vassari."
With an expressionless face, the man stared at Amie.
The name he had gotten from his research was Amie Trevor, not Vassari.
Yet, he made no effort to correct her.
Instead, he said, "Dante."
His voice sent a cold chill through Amie.
"Dante," she repeated. "It’s nice to make your acquaintance."
Dante nodded, stretching his hand out to shake hers.
Yet, at that particular moment, his mind couldn’t help but go to the picture of the other woman.
How would it feel?
Shaking his head, he drew his attention back to the moment before his thoughts could drift further away from his main purpose.
Wanting to know the exact position he held at Vassari, Amie asked, "So, Dante, what exactly do you do for a living?"
Dante’s lips curled into what resembled a smile.
Wasn’t that too straightforward?
But he didn’t say that.
Instead, he responded, "I work for the family."
Amie nodded.
Interesting.
He must not be willing to say the exact position he held.
What a humble man.
But Amie needed to know the exact position he held and how much his power could influence decisions at Vassari Group.
She took a sip of her drink before turning her full attention back to Dante.
"What exactly does your family do for Vassari Group?"
Silence.
Dante watched her without responding.
Amie swallowed.
Did he catch on that she was trying to court an executive?
Not wanting to be too obvious, she said, "I’m new to the company. I’m trying to get to know the important people."
For a brief moment, Dante’s gaze moved towards the table she had left.
He could see the two women who had been sitting with her still glancing at them.
They must have been helping her.
It must be very important for her to meet an executive.
What was she planning?
Dante found it interesting.
"And how do you decide who is important?" he asked.
Amie smiled. "I have my ways."
Dante noted that Amie was interested in meeting an executive.
But from the way her gaze moved over him occasionally, he couldn’t tell if she was interested in him or the fact that she thought he was an executive.
Not wanting the time spent in the bar to be wasted, Amie asked, "You haven’t told me if you work at Vassari."
Dante held her gaze.
"No, I don’t."
Immediately, Amie’s shoulders slumped.
She had been hoping he was an executive above everything else, but her little reaction didn’t go unnoticed by Dante.
"What’s the problem? Does the fact that I’m not an executive bother you that much?"
Amie shook her head quickly, not wanting to give herself away.
"No, no. Not really."
"But you seem less interested now that you know I’m not an executive."
Silence.
Amie had no idea how to respond to that.
To her, Dante was interesting enough.
Even if he wasn’t an executive, she was still interested in him, but now she had no idea how to express that interest to him.
Seeing the silence between them, Dante added, "I might not be an executive at Vassari Group, but I can help with whatever you plan to do."
For the tiniest second, Amie doubted him.
But then again, her gaze moved up and down his body.
He looked like an important person, but she had no idea if she could trust a stranger with such an important task.
She shook her head.
"I don’t want to impose, but thanks for the offer."
Dante didn’t push it.
He had already fulfilled his purpose for coming tonight.
"Fine, but if you need any other help, don’t hesitate to contact me."
His long fingers disappeared into his shirt pocket, and when he brought them back out, there was a card between them.
Amie took the card, trying to see if she could get more information about this mysterious man.
But all that was written on it was:
Dante
And beneath it was his phone number.
No surname.
No other name.
But Dante was already standing up.
Before he left the bar, he gave Amie one final reminder.
"Remember, don’t hesitate to ask for whatever you want."
Then he walked away.
