Chapter 129: The room she didn’t thought she needed.

"Sir, it is ready."

Henson’s voice made Rauf lift his head from the file he was checking.

He had finally moved the majority of his work to New Central State, and soon, all he had to do was check the place out.

But before then, he wanted June more settled in. He wanted her more comfortable in his place.

"Already?" he asked.

Henson nodded. "You said that you needed it urgently, sir."

He did.

"Okay." Rauf said, pushing the file aside.

Immediately, he stood up and headed to June’s room. It was still early in the morning, so he expected her to be there.

Henson must have worked on the project throughout the night because, right under his eyes, Rauf could see dark circles.

He patted Henson’s back and moved towards June’s room.

He knocked lightly on the door, waiting for a response. When he heard none, he knocked again.

He made sure to pound on the door loudly to avoid the situation that happened the other day.

Not like he wouldn’t like to see more of her, but with her permission and when she was more comfortable with it.

Soon, he heard the sound of feet dragging towards the door.

June opened the door, but fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, this time she was decently covered.

"Good morning," she yawned.

"Good morning," Rauf responded. "How are you, and how is the baby?"

June narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously. "What are you doing here so early this morning?"

Rauf chuckled. "Can’t I just come and check on you?"

She shook her head. "You’ve never done that before."

"Maybe I’ll make it a duty. But today, I came for something different."

He was silent as he watched June.

"What?" she asked, her eyes dancing with undiluted curiosity.

"It’s a surprise. I can’t tell you. I have to show it to you."

"Surprise," June repeated.

Her heart started beating fast. She loved surprises, especially ones she hadn’t been expecting at all, and this surprise was coming from Rauf.

She couldn’t guess what it could be.

"Can’t you just tell me?" she asked, batting her lashes in the way she had seen ladies do in movies.

Rauf stared at how cute she was.

For a moment, he was tempted to tell her, but he shook his head. "No, I have to show you."

"Fine," June responded. "But do I have to change my dress? Are we going somewhere far?"

Rauf didn’t hide his gaze as his eyes lingered shamelessly on her body, staying a moment longer on her breasts, which were becoming fuller.

From the way his eyes narrowed at her, June felt hot all over.

Recently, she thought she was becoming fat. But from the way Rauf stared at her, it didn’t look like he minded at all.

"Come on, answer me," she said, trying to distract him.

If he continued looking at her that way, she was going to forget the surprise and just drag him into her room.

Maybe she would get a reminder of how hot his lips felt against hers.

"You look beautiful either way, but you don’t have to change," Rauf finally said, blinking and looking away from her. "The surprise is in the building."

"Really?" June said.

She hadn’t noticed anything.

And she didn’t think Fleur and the others had either.

They would have told her if they did.

"Okay, let’s go."

Rauf led her through the narrow hallway, all the way out of the main living room.

June followed like an obedient puppy, her heart racing at a speed she considered alarming.

He led her to a part of the property she had never been to.

There was a small detached building. It looked more like a store or a private building independent of the main house.

He opened the door and led her inside, but the moment June stepped into the room, she froze.

She pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t asleep.

The whole room was like a dream, something she would read about in a novel or see in a movie.

The room was painted sky blue, her favourite colour.

It was hard to believe Rauf remembered her favourite colour.

On one side was a laptop, a printer, an internet router, and a big monitor.

It was set up like a mini office.

Then there was a bed on the other side.

There was also a sofa she could easily lie on.

Yet, what was most surprising was the refrigerator.

June moved closer to the refrigerator and opened it.

Inside, it was filled with different snacks and drinks. Most of them, she noticed, were fruit juices.

She looked at everything but didn’t say a word.

Her hand moved slowly over the rest of the equipment. She touched the laptop, the different papers, and even the camera set.

She lifted the camera and took a picture.

After taking in the whole room, she turned towards Rauf.

"What’s this?"

She wasn’t smiling, and Rauf couldn’t guess what was going on in her mind from her expression.

He had no idea if she was impressed or not.

Yet, he said, "I noticed you’ve taken on a rather strange hobby, and I thought instead of being cooped up in your room all day, searching and working, it would be better for you to have a comfortable area where you can do your research and develop your skills."

June froze.

She had no idea Rauf had been taking her so seriously.

"You prepared all this for me?"

She hadn’t even thought Rauf cared about what she wanted.

He had always told her to stay away from researching.

He had told her to stay safe.

He had told her all she had to do was lie down until the baby was born.

Yet here he was, handing her something she had never even thought she needed.

A room that contained everything she needed.

Without thinking, for the first time since their separation, she threw herself at him.

This time, Rauf froze.
