The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride
Chapter 131: Getting an executive
The card Amie received from Dante felt heavy in her pocket.
She couldn’t help thinking about it, but then Dante wasn’t an executive.
In fact, he had nothing to do with the company.
What she needed was an executive, so that was still a problem for her.
She kept the card in a safe place, refusing to tell her father about it.
Meeting Dante was going to be her personal secret, and sometimes, just staring at the card made her smile.
It reminded her that she was still as beautiful as she had always been, even though Rauf was too blind to see it because he had been possessed by that bitch, June.
She also refused to tell Chris or Serena about Dante.
In fact, she was still angry at Chris for not giving her the access she needed.
But Chris was always busy, so she barely had time to express her anger at him.
Instead of wasting time, Amie decided to move on with the task of getting an executive.
Out of the people she had seen at the bar, the only one who seemed approachable was Arnold.
But waiting to meet him at the bar seemed too long for her.
Amie was already in a hurry to figure out exactly how to solve the problem her father had given her.
She wanted to make him proud.
So instead, she got his office location from Karen.
It was just a level below Chris’s office, and she also learned that the boardroom was on the same floor.
Having nothing else to do, since the head of department had refused to give her more work because she hadn’t turned in the ones he had previously given her, she strode towards Arnold’s office.
Unlike Chris’s office, Arnold’s office didn’t have a personal assistant who checked his schedule before giving anyone permission to step inside.
For that, Amie was grateful.
She couldn’t deal with secretaries at the moment.
Amie knocked on the door.
Once she heard the deep voice inside respond, "Come in," she opened the door with her head held high.
She walked towards the seat opposite Arnold and settled herself into it.
She could tell that his eyes were on her. He had stopped whatever he was doing and was now staring at her.
He knew who she was.
Most of the executives had been personally invited to the introduction party by Serena, but he had no idea why she had sought him out.
"Miss Vassari." His voice came out more boldly than Amie had imagined.
She had thought he would be scared of her.
But she smiled.
He knew exactly who she was, and that made her work easier.
"What do I owe this pleasant visit?" he asked.
Amie chuckled. Her confidence was hitting the sky.
But a reminder of who she was in the company brought a sense of ease to her.
"Well, you already know who I am, so I don’t think an introduction is needed. I’m just settling into the company, and I’m recruiting people. My own people who would aid my work and make it faster."
She paused before continuing.
"People I can trust."
"Okay," Arnold said, but didn’t say anything else that might interrupt her.
"I actually thought of you."
The man was paying attention to her, so she continued.
"If you join me, you’ll also benefit from me when I finally become the head of this company."
Arnold frowned. "What about Mr. Chris?"
What Amie was discussing sounded like an act of betrayal towards Chris, and Arnold knew what would happen if Chris found out.
He was certain that would be the last day he experienced peace in his life.
"Oh, my brother." Amie waved it away. "My brother has enough projects on his hands at the moment, so I don’t think he’s interested in heading the company forever."
That seemed to make some sense to Arnold because the Vassaris ran a lot of things.
Apart from those that most people knew about, the executives knew there were also hidden businesses known only to the Vassaris and those closest to them.
It wasn’t impossible that Chris had other responsibilities.
Arnold studied Amie for a moment before asking, "And how do you need my help, ma’am?"
"I’ll need more information about the company from you. I need to know more about what I’m planning to head, and my mother and brother have given me the assignment of researching on my own. It’s a way of proving myself to them."
Arnold nodded.
"Of course, I can help with that. Whatever you want to know about the company, I’ll tell you what I can. I’ve been working here for years. I started in the marketing department as a marketer and got promoted until I got to where I am right now. I know this company rewards effort, so I’m willing to put some effort into helping you."
Amie could feel a smile threatening to appear on her lips, but she held it in.
She didn’t want Arnold to become suspicious of what she was doing in any way.
She nodded. "Good. Whenever you receive an important memo or letter, or anything that’s going to affect the company, let me know."
Arnold hesitated.
"Anything I’m permitted to share, certainly."
Amie’s smile faltered slightly.
"And if it’s something you can’t give me directly, you can at least tell me about it."
Arnold nodded slowly. "As long as it doesn’t put either of us in trouble."
That was good enough.
For now.
"Before I leave, I’ll give you my number."
The meeting with Arnold went smoother than she expected.
By the time Amie left his office, she was practically bouncing on her feet.
She already had the contact of an executive on her phone, with hers on his.
It seemed her father’s plan was working, and whatever he planned towards the Vassaris, she was willing to help him make it work.
With happiness filling her heart, Amie barely paid attention to her surroundings, not knowing that someone was watching her.
The man narrowed his gaze at her until she stepped into the elevator.
What could she possibly want with Arnold?
There was only one way to find out.
