Chapter 193: Axe’s Machete (Bonus Chapter)
But Moon knew there was a legend, one that no one had ever encountered in real life.
That was Syzygy Spirit.
The highest-ranked academy, Regal Syzygy Academy, had been named after it.
Although the name existed, no one had ever seen a Syzygy Spirit.
At least, no one knew of one.
There were rumors that the Lycan royal family possessed Syzygy Spirits because they attended this academy.
However, looking at the crippled emperor, everyone had doubts that he was any better than an Eclipse Spirit holder.
If anything, he might only be a Perigee.
Though no one would voice such thoughts openly.
So far, Regal Syzygy Academy had also remained shrouded in mystery.
Like Citadel of Phantoms, it did not recruit students through trials. And how it selected its candidates, no one knew.
Once someone entered the academy, they never came out. Not even during wars involving their own packs.
So, people could consider them dead.
Unlike Citadel of Phantoms, which was famous for spying, Regal Syzygy Academy had a worse reputation.
Mainly because no one had ever seen anyone come out after so many years.
They couldn’t possibly be studying for hundreds of years and growing old just by studying, could they?
So, when Moon remembered that West Blackwood Pack had declared a crown prince with less than a Gibbous Spirit, everything clicked in his mind.
’Could this girl be buying the bracelet for their crown prince?’
"Miss... you’re buying it for..."
"Don’t say it, please," the girl cut him off. She already knew Moon had guessed it after hearing her pack name.
"Are you selling or not? Sell it to me. I’ll raise the price."
"No need. But we only have three, as he said," Moon replied.
The girl looked at Moon, then at Nox, in disbelief. Where was the thousand he had mentioned?
Nox scratched his chin uncomfortably.
He almost felt as though he were bullying a girl.
"Leave your contact information here. We’ll contact you later. Today is a busy day," Moon said.
"I’m Mirali from West Blackwood. My father is a Beta from the third branch. You can just ask around to find me."
"Eh? Don’t you have anything to communicate with?" Nox blurted out.
Mirali looked at him as though he were a fool.
"I’m not an heir or anyone important. I don’t have a communication stone. All I have is a pack mark that allows me to communicate with my pack members only."
"Oh!" Nox said.
He had almost forgotten that people didn’t usually have communication stones.
"I have communication jade here. You can communicate only with people who have the same kind. Do you want to buy one?" Axe, who had finally settled down behind his tools, perked up.
"Only five thousand siki. I have two," he added.
Mirali’s expression grew even stranger as she looked around.
Then her gaze settled on Moon.
’Sure enough, he really is a witch! He knows how to refine so many things,’ she thought.
She completely ignored the fact that Axe was the one who had made it.
"I’ll buy it."
She swiftly completed the transaction and learned how to use it to communicate with them.
Moon also told her that they might be temporarily unavailable and that she shouldn’t worry if they didn’t respond immediately.
She wanted to see more of their goods, but an impatient young man behind her was already complaining.
"Come on! How long do you want to chat?"
"This silver-haired brother, show me that machete!"
"What is that round plate?"
"Holy crap! They have some gorge’s capybara and bullfrog cores!"
"I saw the shoebill stork’s beak. Brother, you have sharp eyes!"
Someone even praised them, though they didn’t know which one of the brothers had caught the shoebill.
Mirali reluctantly left the stall.
Soon, it was crowded with young men and women.
Most of them were from the younger generation who had come to register, but there were some older people as well.
Like the one standing in front of Axe now.
"Show me that machete."
"THAT’S NOT FOR SALE!" Axe shouted.
This was the fifth time he had said it, yet people kept asking.
"Why don’t you look at the other weapons? There’s also this pair of boots and these twin machetes," Moon suggested from the side.
The old man looked around and smiled.
"These are good, but they’re not for me. I want that machete. Young man, sell it to me."
Axe felt conflicted.
No matter how badass he was, this old man seemed like a prestigious figure, and he was asking politely. Axe couldn’t be rude to him.
He shook his head and apologized.
"Elder, I appreciate that you want my weapon, but it’s my personal one. I won’t sell it."
The man frowned.
"You can make a new one. You made it yourself, didn’t you?"
The people around them gasped.
To be approached by an old veteran who was even praising his weapon meant that the machete must be special.
And, of course, it was.
That was precisely why Axe couldn’t sell it.
If Silas hadn’t been getting on his nerves with all his chatter, Axe wouldn’t have taken out his personal weapon in the first place.
They only wanted to sell some random things they had made for practice, not the final weapons they had crafted for themselves.
"I can make another one. You can buy that later," Axe said, growing exasperated.
Anyway, once they left, no one would be able to find them. Surely no one would follow them around just to buy a machete.
But he was wrong. The old man was stubborn.
"Fifty thousand. I’ll give you that much. Is it enough?"
Moon felt ecstatic.
That was a lot of money!
He looked at Axe, but Axe remained indifferent.
"NO!" he said outright, no longer bothering to be polite as he had been before.
As if realizing that Axe was getting angry, the old man laughed out loud.
"You really are stubborn, huh? Let me guess. Is this the first weapon you’ve finished? Do you want to gift it to someone?"
