Chapter 101: 101 The Fate Of The Medusas

The Fate Of The Medusas

Ariselle remained silent, staring intently at Yun Che, who kept his hand extended while the six undead stood behind him.

Eryon, Valeria, Kael, Nefrava, and Morcant remained motionless.

Andarna, on the other hand, swayed from side to side, her face curiously turned toward Ariselle.

Yun Che’s question still echoed in the queen’s mind.

"Would you give me the responsibility of carrying the burden of saving your people?"

After two long hours of Yun Che explaining his plan over and over again, telling her how he would save the Medusas, the queen finally gave in. Even so, she still didn’t look completely convinced.

"Yes." She answered, sighing inwardly as her beautiful light-green eyes darkened slightly.

"If your plan fails, the two of us will die, and my people may face a fate worse than death at the hands of my enemies."

"We shouldn’t think that way. Even if our chances of surviving are extremely low, we should still have the confidence to try. That’s because if it works, your people will definitely be saved."

"And if it doesn’t work, then so be it. We’re already doomed in the end anyway. At least we’ll be together until the very end."

Those weren’t the words Ariselle had expected to hear, but there were no lies or false promises in them. That was why she remained silent for several seconds.

She didn’t know this man well enough to entrust him with the fate of her people. They had only known each other for a short time and had already made two different agreements.

And yet, something inside her was screaming at her to trust this man, who was no different from an enigma and had already given her several surprises.

"Then it’s decided."

The queen’s fingers closed around those of the young man who was only eighteen years old, three or four years younger than her daughter, and yet was still her husband.

"I will entrust the fate of my people to you."

Yun Che nodded.

"I won’t disappoint you."

Ariselle slowly released his hand.

"Don’t make it sound so simple. Even though we’re already doomed, it’s still not easy to entrust the last remaining hope to someone else."

"You’re taking responsibility for an entire race."

"I know."

"And if your plan is as absurd as it sounds..."

"If the Earth Elementals managed to do it after so many years, there’s no way I can’t accomplish the same thing."

Ariselle let out a small sigh.

"You really don’t know how to back down. The Earth Elementals had years of experience with the inheritance of their mausoleum, but you only became an inheritor recently. Not that I’m underestimating your alchemy."

"They took so long because they don’t have a system capable of performing analyses that no mortal could ever accomplish."

Those words were never spoken aloud. They remained only in Yun Che’s mind.

Outside, another tremor traveled through the mountain range, causing the ground beneath everyone’s feet to shake.

Andarna opened her arms.

"It’s shaking again."

Yun Che looked at the ceiling.

"The barrier can’t hold on much longer. It could break at any moment. We’ll have to begin our preparations as quickly as possible. Otherwise, we’ll die even sooner."

Ariselle nodded.

"We don’t have much time. We must begin immediately. You start the preparations inside the mausoleum. I’ll take care of the Council of Elders."

Two hours later, the situation had worsened.

The barrier protecting the mountain range continued to weaken. The enemies had already begun distributing their forces around the four main directions from which the tremors could be heard.

The moment the barrier disappeared, the attack would begin simultaneously.

It was then that Yun Che looked at the six Knights of the Apocalypse and spoke in a commanding tone.

"Return."

The energy of death began to envelop their bodies. None of them questioned him. Eryon lowered his head.

"As you wish, my master."

Valeria smiled.

"We’ll be waiting for your call, my master."

Kael simply closed his eyes while Nefrava crossed her arms. Morcant, on the other hand, remained silent.

And before they all disappeared, the queen pointed toward the bone dragon, the little Andarna, and asked awkwardly:

"Can she stay with me?"

Yun Che slightly furrowed his brows and looked directly into her light-green eyes before nodding in understanding.

"All right. She can stay with you for now," he said with a sigh after realizing the queen’s intentions.

An instant later, the five bodies began to dissolve into dark energy and returned inside Yun Che.

At first, Andarna didn’t notice the queen’s request. She hadn’t even been paying attention to what the queen had said.

"I’m going too!"

She ran toward Yun Che and grabbed his arm.

"You’ll stay with the queen for now."

"I want to go with Master."

Yun Che looked at her.

"Andarna."

"No."

"I haven’t even said anything yet."

"I already know."

She tightened her grip around his arm. Ariselle simply watched the scene in silence as Yun Che crouched down until he was at the little girl’s height.

"Andarna, this is a mission for you. You must protect the queen in your master’s name. Do you understand?"

Her expression immediately fell.

"But..."

"You’ll stay with Ariselle."

"Why?"

"Because I need someone strong to remain here and protect the queen while I go take care of something."

Andarna thought for a few seconds.

"Am I strong?"

"Much stronger than any of your brothers. That’s why I’m entrusting the queen to you."

She immediately raised her head.

"All right. Andarna will protect her in Master’s name."

Yun Che almost sighed in relief. It was easy to trick a child with an answer like that.

Andarna made a small pout.

"When will I come back to Master?"

"The queen will bring you to me once she finishes what she needs to do."

She stared at him.

"Promise, Master?"

"Yes. I promise."

Only then did she reluctantly loosen her grip on Yun Che’s arm.

Seeing this, Ariselle approached the dragon in the form of an adorable little girl.

"Andarna will stay with me."

Yun Che nodded.

"Deal with the Council. Organize your forces. And keep Seraphina under control."

Ariselle raised an eyebrow.

"Seraphina?"

"She won’t want to stay put."

Ariselle let out a tired sigh.

"You already know her too well."

"She looks like you."

"That wasn’t a compliment."

"I know."

Andarna laughed.

Ariselle turned toward her.

"Let’s go."

The two of them left the room.

Yun Che, meanwhile, put his white mask back on, completely covering his young eighteen-year-old face.

He then walked alone toward the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist Rafael.
