Chapter 102: 102 The Last Meeting Of The Medusas

The Last Meeting Of The Medusas

In the Queen of the Medusas’ Council Hall, the five most important figures of the race were gathered once again for the final council meeting.

As she always did, Vaelra stood with her arms crossed while Nysara carefully studied the map.

Thesira and Mirevra remained silent, while Seraphina stood beside the table.

As soon as Ariselle entered, everyone looked at her.

"Queen, you’re back. What happened? Where is the necromancer, and who is the little girl?" Vaelra was the one who fired off several questions at once.

Ariselle approached the map.

"One question at a time. I’ll eventually answer all of them, but right now we have something more important to discuss."

"The barrier is close to its limit."

Nysara narrowed her eyes.

"How much time do we have before the barrier completely gives way?"

"I’m not sure. One day, perhaps."

Ariselle pointed toward the four directions on the map of the mountain range.

"The Lizardmen and Beastmen armies are distributing their forces at these points."

The hall fell silent.

"When the barrier falls, they will attack from all four sides."

Nysara immediately began analyzing the map.

"Then we’ll divide our forces."

"Yes, but the division is necessary because of the method they’re using to break the barrier with the artifacts given to them by the Earth Elementals."

"But you’re still right. This will force us to divide our forces, which have already been greatly reduced."

Ariselle pointed north.

"Vaelra, you’ll take the north."

Then she pointed south.

"Nysara, the south."

East.

"Thesira, the east."

Finally, west.

"Mirevra, the west."

Each of them nodded.

"We have a little over five thousand warriors capable of fighting," Ariselle continued. "Divide approximately one thousand two hundred and fifty among each position. The rest will remain as reserves, support, and formation personnel."

Vaelra nodded.

"And the three new cultivators at the tenth stage?"

"They’ll accompany each of you."

Mirevra nodded, and then Seraphina, who had remained silent the entire time, decided to speak when she noticed that something was missing.

"And you and the necromancer, Mother?"

Ariselle didn’t answer immediately, causing Seraphina to narrow her eyes slightly.

"Which areas will you be responsible for?"

"The necromancer and I won’t be present on the battlefield."

"What? Why?"

Thesira looked at the queen.

"I’d also like to know."

Vaelra was more direct.

"Why won’t the necromancer be on the battlefield?"

The question changed the atmosphere in the room.

Nysara lifted her eyes from the map.

"The necromancer has proven himself to be an extremely valuable asset in this war. If he participates, we might be able to hold out even longer."

"He destroyed the enemy’s logistics base."

"And killed one of their generals," Thesira added.

"More than six thousand soldiers died during that operation," Vaelra said. "Why would someone like that simply not participate in the battle?"

Ariselle remained motionless.

"Because I asked him not to."

The five women were stunned.

Vaelra frowned.

"You asked him?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

Ariselle took a deep breath.

"Because this battle cannot be won even if we add the necromancer to our side. Not to mention that this fight isn’t his."

Nysara looked at the queen but couldn’t completely understand her argument.

"You’re saying that the strength he used before won’t make a difference and that it would be better for him not to participate. Is that it, Queen?"

"Even though he has performed miracles for us, eighteen thousand enemies is not a number he can compensate for."

Ariselle pointed at the map.

"This time, all twelve enemy cultivators at the tenth stage of the Profound Nascence Realm will be present simultaneously."

"Along with the eight Fire Elementals," Nysara added.

"Exactly."

Thesira clenched her teeth.

"And we have barely more than five thousand warriors. Adding an outsider won’t make a difference. He would only be throwing his life away."

"That’s why the necromancer won’t be here."

Vaelra narrowed her eyes.

"Then where is he?"

Ariselle looked at all of them.

"At the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist Rafael."

"As I said, I also won’t be taking part in the initial stage of the war."

"He and I are going to search for something there that might turn the tide of the battle. Considering the overwhelming number of enemies, we can’t rely solely on our strength."

"Something?"

Nysara asked.

"A weapon. A method. Anything capable of changing the outcome of this war that might be hidden inside the mausoleum."

Thesira let out a laugh.

"So our hope now depends on something we don’t even know exists."

"You should have a little faith in your queen."

Ariselle didn’t try to hide the reality.

"Faith? That’s exactly what this is."

Vaelra closed her eyes for a moment.

"And if you don’t find anything?"

Ariselle answered without hesitation.

"Then I’ll return and join you as quickly as possible."

"To fight?"

"To die with my people, if necessary."

Seraphina stepped forward.

"Then I’ll go too."

"No. You’re the future queen. There’s no way you’re going to risk yourself on the battlefield."

Ariselle answered instinctively the moment she heard her daughter.

"I’m a cultivator. I’m an important asset to the Medusa army."

"I know."

"Then I should fight."

"No."

"Why?"

Seraphina’s voice began to tremble.

"Because you’re the future queen. If I fall, you will carry on."

Seraphina clenched her fists.

"If everything continues like this, no one will survive. So who cares about the future queen?"

"We won’t lose this war."

"If what you said is true, that we won’t lose this war, then let me fight by your side."

Ariselle stepped closer.

"I can’t."

Seraphina took another step forward.

"I’m not going to run away while everyone else fights."

"Child, you’re forcing my hand."

Ariselle’s eyes glowed green, and two beams of light shot from them, causing Seraphina to freeze in place.

Suddenly, her body began to harden.

"Mo..."

The word died in her throat.

Within seconds, she was completely petrified.

Thesira’s eyes widened.

"Queen..."

"Guards... Take her away."

Two warriors immediately entered the room.

"Take Seraphina to the Mausoleum. And don’t allow her to leave."

The two obeyed.

Ariselle watched as her daughter was carried away, her expression remaining firm.

But her eyes betrayed her pain.

Vaelra could feel the queen’s pain, but none of them commented on it.

Then Ariselle took out several bottles.

"Before we leave, I have something for you."

She placed the bottles on the table.

Nysara picked one up and carefully examined it.

"High-grade recovery pills?"

"Yes. They can treat severe injuries and restore profound spiritual energy."

Thesira’s eyes widened.

"This quality..."

"They were left behind by the Great Alchemist Rafael."

The four elders fell silent.

"The necromancer gave them to me."

Ariselle pushed the bottles toward them.
