Chapter 103: 103 The Barrier Was Broken

The Barrier Was Broken

"Every cultivator in our army will be able to count on at least one of these pills."

Vaelra looked at the pill in her hand.

"Is he really willing to provide such a large quantity of pills for free?"

Ariselle nodded.

"Now it’s up to us to do our part."

She turned around.

"Trust me. I’ll find something that can bring victory to our people. I know everything indicates that we will lose this war, but we must not give up. We must fight for our territory, for our sisters, and for a future."

No one answered immediately.

Then Vaelra knelt on one knee, and the others did the same.

"We will fight until the very end in the name of our queen."

Ariselle sighed inwardly.

There was a pain in her heart. Perhaps this would be the last time she stood before her council. She herself, one of them, or all of them might die soon if her calculations were wrong.

"Thank you."

Later, on the tenth floor of the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist Rafael, Yun Che walked among ancient structures covered in dust, carving a massive formation.

He was carving one diagram after another while following a thick book in his hand. Sweat ran down his forehead as he analyzed every detail using the system.

Yun Che turned around when a little girl transformed into a black stream of energy and entered his body. At the same time, Ariselle appeared in the corridor.

"Did you resolve everything you needed to?"

"Yes." She answered, pushing her worries, doubts, fears, and anxieties deep into her mind.

Yun Che nodded.

"Then let’s begin."

Ariselle approached him.

"Did you manage to complete the Forbidden Bond Formation?"

The next day arrived very quickly.

There was no longer any time for meetings or discussing strategies. At the four extremities of the mountain range, the Medusas were already in position.

The Medusa army consisted of a little over five thousand warriors who were prepared to give their lives in battle, while the civilians and those incapable of fighting were all inside the mausoleum.

The Medusa army was divided among four defensive positions: north, south, east, and west.

Each position had approximately one thousand two hundred and fifty warriors.

The rest were distributed among the formations, support points, and areas where they could be deployed as reinforcements.

None of them knew how long they would survive, but they all knew that this day would decide the fate of their race.

In the north, Vaelra stood before her warriors with a cold expression. Beside her stood Elyra, one of the three new cultivators who had reached the tenth stage of the Profound Nascence Realm.

The young woman remained silent, feeling the spiritual energy within her body. Just a few days earlier, she had been seriously injured.

Now, her presence alone was enough to make lower-level cultivators feel a pressure that was difficult to withstand.

Vaelra looked at her.

"As cultivators at the tenth stage of the Profound Nascence Realm, our duty isn’t merely to lead the army. We must minimize casualties on our side while inflicting as many casualties as possible on the enemy."

Elyra nodded.

"Understood, Elder."

Vaelra looked directly at her.

"I want you to truly understand this. You saw what someone at the tenth stage is capable of doing during the battle at the strait."

Elyra took a deep breath, remembering the Medusa sisters who had lost their lives in the battle at the strait. In the face of an elite cultivator, even a hundred Body Tempering cultivators posed no threat.

"I understand."

In the south, Nysara observed the terrain with Kaelia standing beside her. The two analyzed the mountains below.

Nysara had prepared several defensive formations at this position.

"If they concentrate too many troops here, retreat to the second formation."

Kaelia nodded.

"And if they break through?"

"Then we’ll attack once they’re within range."

In the east, Thesira held her sword with Lyssara standing beside her. The elder observed the young woman for several seconds.

"You reached the tenth stage recently, but your battle experience during the battle at the strait wasn’t bad. I was genuinely impressed by your coordination."

"Thank you for your words, Elder."

"Don’t let that make you forget that you still have very little combat experience at this level."

Lyssara tightened her grip on her sword.

"I won’t."

Thesira looked toward the horizon.

"Good."

In the west, Mirevra stood before the warriors.

Apparently, this was the quietest of the four positions.

She observed everything—the formations, the slopes, the possible escape routes, and the areas where the enemy might try to concentrate their forces.

Mirevra would serve as the mobile reserve in this area, acting alone as the only cultivator at the tenth stage of the Profound Nascence Realm leading part of the army.

It was exactly at that moment that what they had been waiting for happened...

A violent tremor shook the mountains, and at the same time, all four elders raised their eyes.

The tremors increased in intensity, becoming stronger with every passing second. As a result, the defensive formations began emitting unstable light.

Nysara narrowed her eyes.

"The barrier is cracking..."

In the north, Vaelra looked toward the sky.

A small crack had appeared there, slowly spreading with a sharp cracking sound.

The invisible surface that had protected the entire mountain range for so many days began to break apart.

CRAAACK!

The entire barrier shattered as if it were made of glass, sending a wave of energy throughout the mountains.

The Medusas looked beyond their protective formations and finally saw the enormous enemy army.

Eighteen thousand soldiers were distributed among the four positions of the mountain range. There were countless Beastmen, Lizardmen, and several wild spiritual beasts.

The formation seemed endless.

Despite all the deaths they had suffered during the march, at the strait, and during the destruction of their logistics base, eighteen thousand combatants still remained.

Their forces were divided into four large groups.

In the north, an enormous formation of soldiers advanced under Gorvak’s command.

The gigantic bear-like Beastman carried a massive war hammer, his body easily exceeding two meters in height.

Beside him, Khoran held his enormous sword, while Zarek walked among the heavily armored soldiers.

Tharok advanced with his double-headed axe, while Velka remained farther behind, holding a longbow as she observed the Medusas’ positions.

Gorvak raised his eyes toward the mountains.

"So this is the northern side of the Medusa mountain range."

Khoran smiled.

"There are fewer soldiers than I expected. Don’t tell me they died of fear before we even arrived."

Gorvak didn’t join in the insult. His eyes swept across the formations.

"Don’t underestimate this position."

Velka observed the mountains.

"There are defensive formations scattered throughout different areas of the mountain range. Even if their numbers are insignificant, the terrain isn’t in our favor."

Zarek let out a laugh.

"Formations won’t stop eighteen thousand soldiers from taking this territory and their mausoleum for ourselves."

Velka simply continued staring intently, as if she were searching for something in the mountains.

Something about the Medusas’ defenses was bothering her.
