The Secret Of The Earth Elementals

On the tenth floor of the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist Rafael, Yun Che walked among ancient structures covered in dust, carving a massive formation.

He was carving one diagram after another while following a thick book in his hand. Sweat ran down his forehead as he analyzed every detail using the system.

Yun Che turned around when a little girl transformed into a stream of black energy and entered his body. At the same time, Ariselle appeared in the corridor.

"Did you resolve everything you needed to?"

"Yes." She answered, pushing her worries, doubts, fears, and anxieties deep into her mind.

Yun Che nodded.

"Then let’s begin."

Ariselle approached him.

"Did you manage to complete the Forbidden Bond Formation?"

Instead of answering, Yun Che remained in the center of the enormous ancient room.

All around him were dozens of spiritual circuits that he had drawn himself, following the guidance of the system as it navigated through the knowledge of the Great Alchemist Rafael.

Pentagrams were scattered across different points. Some were small, while others were large enough to occupy several meters.

Above them, projections of light floated in the air. Some of the diagrams slowly rotated.

Others remained motionless while different energy lines crossed through the space, connecting one formation to another.

Several formations overlapped one another. Upon closer inspection, some appeared to function as supports while others directed energy.

The queen looked at what appeared to be an enormous and extremely complex formation.

Yun Che remained kneeling on the ground, one hand resting on a spiritual line.

His eyes were completely focused when a small current of energy passed through his fingers.

The moment he noticed it, he immediately moved his hand away.

[Energy flow identified.]

[Correct direction.]

[Spiritual channel stable.]

[Next circuit.]

Yun Che breathed slowly.

The system continued guiding him through every step, so he didn’t need to memorize everything.

He only needed to follow the instructions.

But that didn’t make the process simple.

Yun Che closed his eyes.

When he opened them again, his spiritual vision activated.

In the next instant, the world before him changed.

The walls around him disappeared, as did the floor. Even his own body seemed to lose its importance.

All that remained were the energy flows.

Luminous lines traveled through the interior of the formation like small rivers.

Some were thin, while others were so dense that they resembled streams.

Yun Che observed every single one of them.

[Correction complete.]

[Flow stabilized.]

Yun Che released a long breath.

"Finally, it’s done."

Only now did he pay attention to the queen and what she was wearing.

Her clothes were different from the battle attire worn by the elders outside.

The elegant fabric followed her movements, with small details embroidered along the sleeves and waist.

Her long green hair, adorned with countless small serpents, flowed down her back while the little green snakes on her head moved slowly.

Her light-green eyes swept across the enormous formation before her, and for several seconds, she simply observed it.

Yun Che smiled inwardly.

The queen had changed her clothes before coming to see him. This created a small ripple in the heart of the necromancer.

"You completed the formation?"

Yun Che didn’t answer immediately.

His hand continued working on the final circuit until he finally stood up.

Yun Che’s eyes met the queen’s directly.

He continued staring into those light-green eyes for several seconds.

"What are you looking at so passionately?"

Yun Che tilted his head slightly.

"I was just lost in my own thoughts."

"What are you thinking about so intensely?"

"About what the princess told me about the Earth Elementals."

Ariselle remained silent for a moment.

"Seraphina told you about the Elementals?"

Yun Che nodded.

"She told me a few things about this secret realm and its native races. We talked especially about the Elementals."

He looked at the formation again.

"I knew there were three races that possessed mausoleums within their territories."

Ariselle didn’t interrupt.

"The Fire Elementals, the Medusas, and the Earth Elementals. That’s what the princess told me when I saved her from the Beastmen."

Yun Che turned his eyes back to her.

"From what I heard from her, the Earth Elementals were considered the weakest race among the three."

Ariselle remained silent.

Yun Che continued:

"The Fire Elementals were ranked first."

"Then came the Medusas."

"And the Earth Elementals were considered the weakest of the three races."

Ariselle finally nodded.

"That was true."

She walked a few steps closer to the necromancer.

"For a long time, the Earth Elementals really were considered the weakest race among those that possessed a mausoleum."

Yun Che continued looking at her.

"But that changed."

"Yes. She told me that as well."

Ariselle stopped in front of one of the smaller formations.

"It changed when they managed to inherit the mausoleum within their territory."

"The Mausoleum of the Earth Emperor."

"Exactly. They inherited the Earth Emperor’s legacy within his mausoleum, becoming the first race to accomplish such a feat."

Ariselle’s voice became slightly more serious.

"After receiving that inheritance, the Earth Elementals changed completely."

Yun Che narrowed his eyes.

"How much did they change from what they originally were?"

"A lot."

She turned toward him.

"They completely isolated themselves within their territory, abandoning their territorial disputes with the other races."

"They closed off their territory, and a barrier appeared around their lands."

Yun Che immediately thought of the Medusas’ mountain range, which also possessed a barrier thanks to the inheritance of the Great Alchemist Rafael.

"Like our barrier."

Ariselle nodded.

"It’s similar."

She paused briefly.

"But their barrier is stronger."

Yun Che remained silent.

Ariselle continued:

"After that, the Fire Elementals and other races attempted to invade their territory several times in an effort to take what they had obtained from the inheritance."

"But they never succeeded."

"Not even once?"

"No."

"They tried to break through the barrier?"

"Several times."

"Did they attack directly?"

"Yes."

"Then why couldn’t they succeed?"

Ariselle breathed slowly.

"Because the Earth Elementals were no longer the same."

Yun Che became thoughtful.

Ariselle continued:

"Every invasion ended the same way. The forces that entered their territory were either destroyed or forced to retreat."

"Until the last invasion happened."

Yun Che’s expression changed.

"What happened?"

Ariselle let out a small laugh.

"Three different races attacked the Earth Elementals, and two of them were led by the elemental tyrants of the Fire Elementals."

She paused briefly before continuing.

"But only one survived to tell the story."
